{ CHAPTER - 33 } THE DIARY

Karma had earlier missed the writing on the diary's cover that said, "Share your secrets."

The diary was just around 10 centimeters in length, so you could hold it easily. It appeared ancient from the exterior, but it was brand-new because of the rusty, classic tone it possessed.

The cover was a light brown color because it was made of leather. He found numerous pages in the diary, half of which had rulers and the other half had been left blank, but none of them had been destroyed or even mildly scuffed.

Karma made a further deduction after examining the diary's outside and interior.

"The buyer of this item had a classic taste, and given that the pages remain in like-new shape, it is clear that he loved and cared for his possessions."

He carefully read every page and discovered several paragraphs written throughout, the majority of which made no sense at all.

(Did you find anything helpful?)

The demon was left in suspense since his full attention was on deciphering those arbitrary paragraphs.

The diary's blank pages were so pristine that it appeared as though no one had ever touched them, which made him suspicious.

The fact that the writing on the ruler pages made no sense and appeared to have been assembled from various random phrases worried him more than anything else.

Karma supported his confused head with his right hand while having no idea what the diary was about.

Sighing under his breath, he continued, "Nothing is making sense in here; no matter how I look at it, these are simply some random words placed together. Even though I attempted to use numbers instead of words, nothing could be made to make those numbers make sense."

Being unable to get anything from the journal left him feeling rather dejected.

The devil moved up to him, bent forward next to him, and inquired as he looked at the diary. (Do you believe that these blank pages could provide a hint?)

He utterly missed something until he paid close attention to the demon's advice and remembered it.

As he hit his forehead, feeling incredibly stupid, a thought flashed through his mind.

"Of course, how did I forget this?"

He discovered another thing after tearing the diary's last blank page, which was located at the far back. These pages, when compared to a typical one, are rather thick.

The paper was significantly thicker than a typical page, he noticed after ripping it with his hand.

Karma picked up the paper and ran it under the sink's faucet without caring about how thick it was.

To extract anything out of the paper, he turned on the faucet and let the water soak it.

The demon questioned after becoming curious about his behavior. "What are you doing?"

He responded while turning to face the devil who was seated at the dinner table. "This is one of the oldest tricks in the book; people use an invisible ink that becomes apparent when it comes into contact with water."

He held the paper underwater for a long time, hoping to discover its secrets, but he was unsuccessful.

He blows on the paper to dry it, but nothing is still shown.

He put the paper on the table after realizing he had not gained anything from it and asked himself, 'Am I overthinking this?'

He circled the room in perplexity as he questioned himself. When another thought suddenly flashed across his mind, he halted and moved closer to the diary.

He spoke to himself seriously while covering his lips with his palm, saying, "Wait a minute, there was that too."

The demon, on the other hand, had no idea what Karma was talking about and simply watched as he rushed out of the living room while Karma was alone talking to himself.

As he saw Karma flee out the door, the demon continued to look at the door in perplexity.

He averted his gaze when Karma didn't return for a while but was shocked by his abrupt entrance through the door.

Karma sat down at the dining table after pulling back the chair and setting the diary there.

He set a candle on the table and used a matchbox to light it.

He disregarded the wet page since it was still wet and tore another one out of the diary's back, holding it up to the candle's flame.

(Is this another trick in the book?)

"Yes, it is..."

Fire will work if water doesn't, right? He had hoped that this ruse would succeed, and fortunately, this time his hopes were not dashed.

When the paper was placed near the fire, certain words were visible on it, which thrilled the devil at the back.

"At last, we found something."

He discovered some more words on those white papers, but this time something was different.

His dissatisfaction prompted him to utter these additional remarks. (These are just some words.)

If that were all there was to it, then these additional words would have been meaningless.

His eyes spotted a thread connecting those unrelated words, and that was it.

Every page in the diary followed the same pattern: the right side was ruled, the left side was blank, and so on.

Look here, this word here is 'Car,' Karma remarked, pointing at the word from the paragraph on the ruler page. He said, "And if we look on this page it reads 'Ride' here." while pointing to the word on the white sheet.

When he paid close attention, even the devil understood (These two words have a meaning for each other.)

"Yes, these sentences aren't just randomly chosen. These phrases should be concealed somewhere on each blank page in this diary; if we examine them all, we will undoubtedly find something."
