67 Qi Gathering Formation

From his slightly confused eyes, he saw Elder Feng holding onto 8 identical looking stones, and then placed them in a uniform manner around the center.

"Elder Feng, what are those stones, and what are you doing right now?" Long Chen curiously asked with a gaze of interest.

He only knew that these stones were able to increase the density of Qi energy in a specific area, but had no idea what it was nor how it worked.

Elder Feng was not surprised by Long Chen's question, and he patiently explained, "Those stones that I have placed down are called Formation Crystals. Although they may look like normal stones, there is actually a trace of Formation power imbued within them."

"Do you see the 4 Formation Crystals which have been placed around the centre of the room? This is actually a type of Formation that is meant to gather Qi energy, known as the Qi Gathering Formation."

"It works the same as a Qi Gathering Pill, which naturally helps you to gather Qi energy from the surroundings. The only difference is that the effects of this Qi Gathering Formation is long-lasting, and can sustain its energy by more than a few years, depending on the Grade of the Formation."

Long Chen nodded his head in understanding as his doubts were cleared, and he went on to ask, "Then what Grade is this Qi Gathering Formation in front of me?"

Elder Feng looked towards Formation, before turning back his head and said, "This is merely a normal Mid-Tier Grade 1 Qi Gathering Formation. Every single Inner Disciple is entitled to one of them."

"Right now, I will be enhancing the Grade of this Formation to a Grade 2 one, according to the standards of the Elite Disciples' courtyards."

As he said this, he shifted his body towards the Qi Gathering Formation, and began to start creating a new Formation.

His hands flew all around as mysterious runes and patterns appeared in mid-air, then entered the 12 Formation Crystals that laid on the ground.

As his hands continued to move, a faint figure of a complete web of symbols started to appear, and it darkened and became more real as time passed on.

Long Chen stared at the entire process with awe, and intrigue. This was his first time seeing such a Formation being created right before his eyes, and he was unable to pull his gaze away from it.

Elder Feng's hands moved so quickly and indiscriminately that a normal person would have long gotten lost in the random mess of movements, but Long Chen's eyes brightened as he observed it.

Unconsciously, his hands began to move on its own, and if one observed clearly, they will notice that his actions seemed to bear a slight resemblance to how Elder Feng was doing.

On the other hand, Elder Feng was totally engrossed into the Formation, and it was good that he had not turned back, or his old heart may not been able to take the shock.

It took a while before Elder Feng finally halted his movements, and the Qi Gathering Formation glowed with a radiant light, before it turned illusory and invisible to the naked eye.

"Finally done." Elder Feng made a deep sigh and wiped the sweat of his forehead. He gazed at the completed Qi Gathering Formation in satisfaction and pride for a while, then turned his body and looked at Long Chen, who just stood there in a daze, seemingly stunned.

"Long Chen, how was my Formation skills? Are you astounding by my remarkable skills?" Elder Feng smugly smiled when he saw Long Chen's expression.

After all, it was always this youth giving him endless surprises, and this the only time when he himself was able to make Long Chen react in such a manner.

On the other hand, Long Chen was simply staring at the notification that popped up within his mind in shock.

Long Chen could do nothing but stare blankly at the sudden onslaught of notifications, and the unexpected opening of a new feature.

Never in his wildest dreams had he expected that he would have learnt how to create Formations, let alone unlock the feature for it.

He could sense that in his mind, there was a blob of information that told him to how a Qi Gathering Formation is created.

That was when he realized that there was one major difference between this Formations skill and the Alchemy skill, and it was that he had quite a few pill recipes within his mind, but he only knew one Formation, which was the Qi Gathering Formation which he had just watched the creation of.

The System was not that great as to say that he would automatically learn how to construct other Formations just because he studied the creation of only one Formation.

This fact did not incur much of a reaction to him. After all, he knew that it was illogical.

Knowing how to construct one Formation did not mean that he knew how to construct other Formations as well.

After the shock though, came the delight and pure joy that stemmed from his heart. As long as he practiced enough, he would be able to enhance the Grade of the Qi Gathering Formation within his room, and further increase the rate of his cultivation speed to another level!

This idea alone sent currents of excitement and anticipation coursing through him.

Just then, he heard Elder Feng talking, and he pulled himself out of his stupor and praised, "I didn't know that Elder Feng was a Formation master, and such a high grade one too. What a surprise!"

"Haha, know that you know of my prowess, how about you start to consider the matter about meeting my adorable granddaughter? I promise you that you will surely like her!" Elder Feng heartily laughed while trying to prompt Long Chen.

At his words, Long Chen's face darkened as black lines ran down his forehead.

"Elder Feng, I am sure that you are tired after constructing the Qi Gathering Formation. I hope you can have a good rest." Long Chen went forward and led Elder Feng out of his house amidst the latter's stammers and protests.

When Elder Feng was out of the door, he exclaimed, "Long Chen! About the matter of my granddaughter…"

Long Chen slightly bowed his head as he cupped his fists, "Elder Feng, thank you for your help today. I am feeling especially fatigued and need to take rest immediately. I hope to see you again soon."

With that, Long Chen unhesitatingly closed the door, and heaved a sigh of relief. It was lucky that he managed to send him out so quickly.

But who knew that his door was abruptly forcefully opened, and he raised his head in shock as he saw Elder Feng staring at him with his beady eyes.

"Are you looking down on my granddaughter, and feel that she is not good enough for you? I'm telling you, even though her talent may not compare to yours, she is also a well-known Chosen within the Moonlight Sect! Countless of geniuses all long for a meeting with her, and if you let them queue up into a line, they could stretch all the way from the boundary of the Moonlight Sect, all the way to the other opposite side of the Wind Cloud City!. " Elder Feng stuck out his chest as his face rose up into a prideful smile.

The pride of having such an amazing granddaughter.

"Let me stop talking about how great my granddaughter is, because if I do so, I would probably take 3 days and 3 nights to finish talking about it." Elder Feng continued to say while trying his best to promote his granddaughter.

And without waiting for Long Chen's response, he instantly announced, "Remember, my granddaughter's name is…. Her name is….Feng…?"

Elder Feng then began to scratch his head as his eyebrows furrowed up in thought.

"Am I really getting that old these days…?" Elder Feng softly mumbled to himself.

Long Chen saw this as a great opportunity to chase him away, "Elder Feng, it is alright. You can take your time to think of the name later."

As he said this, he smilingly led Elder Feng back out of his courtyard, until Elder Feng suddenly exclaimed out.

"I remember now! Her name is Feng Xue! Long Chen, remember this name!" Elder Feng looked up towards Long Chen and reminded.

"Yes…yes. I have remembered this name already." Long Chen perfunctorily replied while attempting to close the door.

Elder Feng swiftly placed his hand to block the door from closing, as his peeked his old head in and seriously asked, "Are you sure?"

The corner of Long Chen's lips twitched, and he hurriedly answered, "Of course. Feng Xue is such a beautiful name. How could I not remember this?"

Elder Feng took a deep look at Long Chen, before he nodded his head in satisfaction.

"That is good. I would get her to meet up with you one day."

Elder Feng took away his hand from the door, and Long Chen did not waste a single moment, and quickly slammed the door shut. This time, he stood at the door for quite some time, and after he was sure that Elder Feng had left, he took another deep sigh of relief.

'What sort of Formation Master, who would be revered and respected wherever they go, was as shameless and unrelenting as Elder Feng?' Long Chen lamented within his heart.

He then lifted his head to glance at the newly constructed Qi Gathering Formation, and strode towards it with expectations in his heart.
