Chapter 36

As you and Jisung began to walk forward the noises were making your skin crawl and the smells were repulsing. You looked over to Jisung, "So... you come here often?"

"Yes, actually quite ofte.... wait? What kind of question is that? Of course I come here often, it's literally my job."

You shook your head, "Sorry, just trying to make small talk to distract myself."

"Oh, ok"

"So Jisung, how many people have did this before?"

He scrunched his face in thought for a moment, "Thousands, I'm not really sure anymore.

"So no ones been able to succeed? What makes it so hard?"

Jisung was silent for a moment causing you to look towards him.

"Usually killed by a horrid beast or some other difficult task." he said.

"Horrid beast? Like what?"

"Like cyclops, dragons, sirens, ogres, and Medusa."

"Wait?! Medusa. Like the Medusa." You say surprised.

"Yeah, She was quite the beauty until she broke her celibacy and married Poseidon."

You hummed in response. ~Wow things were truly messed up back then.~

As if he knew what you were thinking he said. "Life back then was very different than it is now. However their lives then was just what they were used to. The gods do a lot to keep theses creatures secret from the human society over the years, as they caused chaos. Eventually erasing the important things and leaving behind only myths."

"Good choice, but still. Dragons exist. I mean after the dinosaurs they had to be out there somewhere, right?"

Jisung watched you in amusement and you rambled on. Eventually he began to smile which went unnoticed by you.

All of this was so interesting to you, you were being introduced to things you didn't know existed.

But new things also strike fear. So demons exist? Ghosts too? How about other horrid monsters? Was it really all that safe on earth or even Olympus for that matter.

Again Jisung to the rescue, "But many of those creatures were defeated long ago. Few remain in hiding. It would be rare for you or anyone you know to be attacked by a mythological creature."

Jisung also wanted to say. ~However the creatures that still exist down here are even worse than you could possibly imagine.~ But he quickly decided against that.

The two of you began to walk in silence and you thought about what you had discussed, when you suddenly had another question.

"How were the creatures defeated? I mean if so many people came down here only to fail and die, then how are the creatures dead too?"

Jisung looked over at you and chuckled.

"Good question, they did fail and die. However hunters would hunt and kill the beasts."

"Hunters? And do hunters exist today?" You ask think of all the sci-fi shows you seen back on earth.

"Of course they do. There's demon hunters, ghost hunters, and just hunters that hunt anything suPErNatUrAL."

You looked at Jisung in confusion. "Why did you say it like that?"

"Say it like what?"

"Like suPErNatUrAL."

"Uh... no reason."

Eventually the two of you continued on in silence.

And of course silence leads to thinking. Thinking leads to questions. And questions lead to asking.

As if Jisung sensed it he sighed and said, "Go ahead and ask."

You smiled, "Ok." You fumbled a bit for words and fidgeted a bit while walking. "So while I was back on earth I was never the religious type. So I was wondering if... you know, Jesus actually exists?" You finally ask. The thought of maybe getting an answer made you nervous.

Jisung paused for a second not knowing exactly what to say.

"I am not obliged to say."

You sighed, because of course those things were beyond you. But then your eyes went wide, "Wait a minute, I'm a god. Why can't I know about the existence of another god?"

"You're just a minor god." He then patted your shoulder. "But don't worry, all will be revealed when you die and go to heaven."

"I don't want to die." You said simply. I mean who actually does. It's the fear of the unknown. A fear that keeps people up at night.

"Dying isn't necessarily bad, well if you did good in life. You get to go to heaven, a paradise. You will feel peace and time passes by fast there too. Before you know it your loved ones will be there as well."

You nodded, "I see where you're coming from. But you can find paradise back on Olympus. I know Olympus isn't perfect. But I don't know, just living and breathing, being with friends and family, and having fun-"

You notice Jisungs amusing stare and you stopped in your speech. Although his stare was amusing so you could tell he wanted you to agree or at least acknowledge that death could be beautiful. So you tried to lighten the mood.

"I mean you can't have sex in heaven, can you?"

Jisung chuckled. He was definitely caught off guard by your joke.

"I don't know, you may be surprised."

You laugh at his reply. You two were getting closer and this journey as horrid and scaring at it was, it may be better than it could be.

But you suddenly stop in you tracks when you see what you just entered.

It was definitely a beautiful change of pace from the horrid mess you were just in.

Jisung leaned over and whispered to you, "This is where all the privileged demons stay."

"So will one of them be able to get me out of here."

Jisung shrugged, "Maybe."

You sighed, "Well how am I supposed to find one?"

Jisung debated in his head. He liked you, a lot more than the other people.

You were nice to him, kind actually, even if it may not seem like it. The others would try to suck up to him or be rude to him because they simply didn't understand him. But you didn't care and just talked to him like a person, you made him feel real.

But he couldn't give you the main answers to getting out of here. He had done enough, too much actually.

He wanted to help you but instead said. "This is your journey, not mine. You can figure it out"

"It's alright, you're right though. I can figure it out."

When you turned away you missed Jisungs guilt ridden expression.

You looked down the hallway, "So I guess I'll just go into the rooms and see if I can find anyone."

Jisung shrugged, "Well that's not the right way, but oh well."

You looked back over to him, "You said no ones been able to complete this so my plan is better than anything right now."

You quickly strode down the hall to the first door you seen then you grabbed the knob and jerked the door open.
