I was in the same class as Jenny.

She made an application to the teacher, saying, "I'm afraid that Mary can’t adapt to our class soon. Can I sit beside her?"

The teacher praised her in front of the entire class, saying, "You should learn from Jenny and care about our new classmate."

After class, many students gathered around Jenny and curiously asked, "Jenny, what’s your relationship with Mary?"

Jenny glanced at me and calmly lied, "She is my cousin from the county town. She became a senior this year, but the education there is backward. So, her parents transferred her to our school. She is temporarily staying at my home."

I quietly listened.

On the way to school this morning, Jenny had said with an understanding look, "Our relationship is special. So, we’d better keep it from our classmates. If they ask, I will answer them."

Knowing it was because she did not want others to know she was adopted, I had calmly responded with a frown, "Okay."
