Chapter 1: Awakening

In today's world, where the status of people was based on the strength of their god's domain and themselves.

Each person had a chance to awaken their god's domain when they turned 12.

For most people, awakening their gods' domain was no different from overturning their fate.

However, reality was cruel. If you want to reach the top, you need to strengthen your god's domain using resources.

But resources were expensive, and every time you strengthen your god's domain, the resources it requires increase.

This was no different from the insatiable gold-swallowing beast. Of course, there were some other methods to gain resources.

Such as battling with other gods' domains, conquering undiscovered planets and planes, invading the domains of fallen gods, etc.

Today was my birthday. It was also the day where I was going to attempt to awaken my god's domain.

...

"You were already 12 years old today. It was time to attempt to awaken your god's domain," a mature and gentle-looking woman said.

She was my mother. The one who took care of me for my entire 12 years of life. Well, she wasn't really my biological mother.

She adopted me from her best friend after she died. My father died along with her. That was what my mother said.

I have some relatives, but my real mother entrusted me to her best friend, who is my current mother.

Well, I don't really care. Although my mother and I aren't related by blood, she treated me as her own son. I treated her as my real mom.

I feel a bit guilty about it though. I was treating other women as my mother, yet I didn't do it to my biological mother.

But I can't help it. I have never seen her face, nor can I remember anything about her, since when she died, I was only a few weeks old.

...

My mother said, "Even if you can't awaken your gods' domain, it doesn't matter."

She continued, with a smirk, "Your mother was strong and rich enough to give you a lavish life for billions of lifetimes."

"Mom, shouldn't you cheer me up or something? Even though I think what you have said sounds nice.

"I feel like that was going to make me a useless and unreliable son," I said as I looked up at her and stomped my feet.

"That was just a joke. How can I, one of the strongest beings in the world, have such an untalented son? " Mom said as she picked me up and hugged me tightly.

"Mom, stop saying red flags and stop treating me like a child!" I said as I tried to break free from her tight embrace.

However, my efforts were all futile. There was no way I could break free from one of the strongest beings in the world.

"You were only 12 years old, so you were still a child. Besides, no matter how old you were, you were always my baby, "Mother said as she rubbed her head with mine.

"Mom! Stop saying embarrassing things! " I said with my cheeks flushed. I stopped resisting her attacks since it was just a waste of effort.

"I'm your mother, so there was no need for you to be embarrassed," my mother said as she kissed my cheeks several times.

"Even if you say so," I said, as I turned my head to the other side.

"Alright, I won't tease you anymore," my mother said as she gave my head several head pats.

"Come on, let's go to the awakening altar," Mother continued.

"Mom! Put me down! How can I get there if you're carrying me?" I asked.

"No problem, I can take you there with me," the mother said.

"But..." I wanted to say something, but my mother interrupted me by placing her finger on my lips.

Mom said, "No buts," then she removed her finger from my lips.

"Okay," I said, since I didn't have any choice.

"Good," Mom said, and in the next moment, a white light enveloped us. It seemed that she used her power to teleport us to the awakening altar.

As the white light that surrounded us dimmed till it disappeared, I finally saw my surroundings clearly.

Ahead of us, there was a circular altar that was giving off a bright light.

The whole altar was made of white jade, and it was also covered with gods' runes. In the center was a majestic statue.

It was a woman in her armor, standing straight. In her hands, there was a longsword embedded in the ground.

I looked at the statue in a daze. I recognized her; it was my mother. Although I don't want to admit it, she was really beautiful.

"Hey! Hey! "Hey!" My mother yelled several times. I didn't notice it till it was the eighth time.

"What...?" I asked, then in the next moment, I realized what I had done.

My cheeks reddened. I tried to hide it by facing the opposite direction of mom's face.

Once she sees it, she will tease me again, just like always. Unfortunately for me, she noticed it.

"Why are you blushing? Did you just get mesmerized by the beauty of my statue?" She asked with a playful smile on her face.

However, I didn't respond.

"It was beautiful, right? Right? Right? Mom was beautiful, right? Right? Right? " Mom asked repeatedly.

I didn't answer her till I couldn't bear her persistent questions anymore.

"Yes! Mother looks young and beautiful!" I shouted with a red face.

"I knew it!" "Mother said with a beaming smile that gave me the impression that the brightness would blind my eyes.

"But mom wasn't young anymore." I mumbled in a low voice.

"What did you just say?" Mother asked. Her smile was still there, but it gave off terrifying vibes.

"Nothing..." I said as I gulped.

"I see," the mother said as her smile returned to normal.

"Go on, put your hand on the sword of my statue. It will awaken your god's domain," Mother said, with her finger pointed at it.
