God's Cafe

A retired god, Kira, has recently passed on his job to a successful hero and decides to open a cafe for characters from all corners of the multiverse. Heroes, villains, and anything in between are welcome to come hang out, trade, and visit other worlds for missions. ------------------------------------------ My first time writing anything so it's probably gonna be garbage but don't go easy on me. Criticism of all kinds is welcome. I won't make any promises about update consistency, university is hell.

The Chase

The DC universe in my story is most likely going to be strongly AU due to not knowing as much about it as I should. I honestly can't keep up with their timeline and characters. I doubt DC themselves understand what is happening at this point.

[DC Universe, Batman POV]

Stationed on top of a tall residential building, I watch as the riot within Arkham Asylum continues to pick up steam. The prisoners are taking the guards hostage and preparing to break down the gates to escape out into the streets of Gotham.

"When are these damn villains going to learn to respect our sleep? Ever since becoming Robin, it feels like my sleep schedule has been deeply disturbed." I hear my newest protege complain in my ear through the intercom.

Getting a sidekick wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I adopted Dick Grayson, but sometimes things don't go as planned.

"Stop complaining and focus on the task at hand. Taking out the leaders of the riot should buy the police force and military enough time to get here and shut it down for good." I respond to his complaining harshly, but I'm not really mad.

He may complain and get off-topic often, but he takes the job very seriously when necessary despite being inexperienced.

"Roger that boss." I hear him mutter and go quiet for a few seconds, then continue. "Looks like the villains are making their move. I see The Penguin up on the roof commanding the henchmen, Deathstroke is standing guard behind him."

Taking those two out should buy enough time for reinforcements to get here and put a stop to this.

"You take The Penguin, I'll deal with Deathstroke," I command and get moving. The Penguin won't pose much of a threat, Robin should be able to deal with him.

Landing in front of Deathstroke, I hear Robin push Penguin off the roof through a window into a different building.

"You send your sidekick to take care of my employer while you come to deal with me personally? Gotta say I'm honored you think of me as the bigger threat." He chuckles and charges at me with his swords.

I deflect his sword with my wrist guards and respond in kind with a knee to his stomach. He may be an experienced fighter, but we've danced this dance many times now.

"Sorry, Slade, don't have much time to chat with you right now." I try to follow up my previous attack with an elbow blow to his head to knock him out, but he sees it coming and throws me down on the ground.

"Neither do I, batman, got a time-sensitive job out in Metropolis, so I need to leave here qui…." He doesn't get much farther than that before I decide to try out a new gadget on him. Aiming at his neck where his armor is weakest, I shoot out a tranquilizer dart from my wrist. Almost instantaneously, Deathstroke falls to the ground unconscious.

This trick is only gonna work once. I will need to figure out something new for next time.

I can hear dozens of sirens out in the distance getting closer. We held the line long enough. The police force should be able to manage it from here.

Looking over to the direction where Robin threw Penguin off the roof, I see Robin climbing up with a grin on his face.

"Penguin is tied up to a post in the building next door. Before being knocked out, he said something about Catwoman and Poison Ivy heading towards the northern exit for their own escape attempt. Should we head after them?" Robin inquires. You can always count on villains selling each other out as soon as they are defeated.

"They've got a good head start on us and have already escaped the compound by now, most likely. Let's hurry after them." I say while sending some drones out to look for the pair.

It doesn't take long to find them running in the alleyways of Gotham right outside the walls of Arkham Asylum.

With The Penguin tied up and Slade out for at least a few hours, we have no reason to stay here anymore.

Sending over the data on Poison Ivy and Catwoman's location to Robin, we set out running towards their current location. No doubt they have noticed the drones and are trying to lose us in any way possible.

The two supervillains were running on foot, so it didn't take long for us to catch up to them.

Just as we catch sight of them entering another one of Gotham's famous alleyways, some vines burst through the pavement below, coiling round Robin.

I'm able to avoid the giant vines easily and continue to run after Catwoman and Poison Ivy. Regrettably, Robin will have to stay behind in the vines for now.

Continuing the chase, I enter the alleyway just in time to see the two women stop in front of a mysterious glowing door with hesitant expressions on their faces. However, seeing me catch up to them seems to give them the necessary courage to jump in.

What could this mean? A new villain in Gotham that utilizes doors?

The two seemed to hesitate before jumping in, meaning they most likely didn't know about this person either. So what could their plan be saving two villains?

While quickly thinking about all the possibilities, Robin approaches from behind me.

"Hey, all the vines retracted, and I hurried over as fast as I could. What happened to our two escapees, and whoah, what's up with that glowing door?" He points to the door that Catwoman and Poison Ivy escaped through. It's not disappearing. Is it waiting for me to enter?

"Head back to the Batcave, ill deal with things from here," I tell Robin. This could get dangerous depending on what's on the other side of the door.

Stepping towards the door, I hear Robin grumbling something behind me as he grapples to a nearby rooftop and heads back home.

The second I get through the door, I get a sudden headache as a bunch of information is forced into my head.

What is all this? A god? Cafe with magical powers and a way for anyone to get powerful abilities?

This could be either a great opportunity or a dreadful calamity waiting to happen.

I turn my eyes to the supposed god standing behind the counter with a barista outfit on, and before I can say anything, he stands up and greets us with a smile on his face.

"Welcome to God's Cafe. How can I help you?"

How was the fight scene? I know it was super short, but I didn't really feel the need to drag it out.
