The Man in the Tailored Suit

"Wait," Xiajun muttered as he browsed the contents of the file. "Only 2 pages? That's it?"

His uncle sat back in his chair. "I did tell you that there wasn't enough evidence that it was a homicide."

"But I can tell it was a homicide," Xiajun bellowed as he threw the file on the small glass table before the sofa. "This is ridiculous. Were the previous investigators blind or something? Can't they see how the angle of the blade handle is slightly downwards? If it was a suicide, the angle shouldn't have been like so! It's all so clear!"

"Calm down, Jun," his uncle said. He then pressed a button under his desk to call for the attendant. "I'll get us some coffee."

Instantly, a knock came at the door and Zhang Long asked whoever it was to enter. It was the female attendant at the front desk.

"Meifen, could you please order two Americanos from the café across the street? Thank you."

Meifen gladly complied and went to carry out her boss's orders for she had nothing much else to do at the moment.

But Xiajun still wasn't satisfied. "I'm going to the crime scene this afternoon."

"Not yet, you can't," Zhang Long shook his head. "None of my other men are free today. How about tomorrow? I'll send Zhaohui with you."

Zhaohui was Xiajun's coworker and good friend.

Xiajun glared at his uncle. "Do you not trust me enough to let me go alone?"

"Jun, it is dangerous." his uncle tried to reason with him, though inside he knew that his nephew won't comply. "I can't let you go to that dangerous neighborhood alone. And what if those things cause you trouble?"

Xiajun knew that his uncle was talking about the ghosts he usually saw. His uncle was probably the only person Xiajun had trusted enough to tell his secret to. Not as if he had anyone else to tell these things to anyways. His parents died when he was 7 and since then, his uncle had taken care of him. That's probably where Xiajun's habit of solving cases came from. His uncle had been a detective as well.

"Alright, I'll leave for Baiyun early tomorrow," Xiajun said as he stood up. "Tell Zhaohui to meet me at my place by 9 am, max. And if he's late even by a second, I'll leave alone."

With that, Xiajun picked up the blue file and walked out the door. He walked past the stairs and straight into the elevator after which he stepped right out the grey building and into the morning sun.

Everyone gaped at him as he strode confidently through the streets, looking for where he had parked his car. Ah there it was, his lovely black beauty, his Bugatti Veyron. He smiled as he pulled the car key from the pockets of his tailored pants, aware of all the envious eyes etching into his back.

With a flick of his wrist, he unlocked the car and stepped in. And the car soon peeled away.

Xiajun, of course, didn't mean to go back home. He had a lot on his mind to go rest, so instead, he drove over to the police station which had previously dealt with the case which was fortunately not too far from his uncle's agency.

As he stepped out of his car, he saw that many people had gathered around to admire it. He smirked to himself as a large 'Wow' went through the crowd as he revealed himself and locked the door. People parted like fish for the man dressed in a tailored suit and wearing a fancy watch.

Xiajun fixed his brown hair which didn't need any more fixing and stepped into the police station, oblivious to all the wary gazes of the employees working there.

"I'd like to meet with Chief Officer Guo," Xiajun said loudly for no one in particular.

Soon a timid man dressed in blue worker clothes approached the intimidating Xiajun and hesitated to speak. "Chief Officer Guo is a bit busy at the moment, sir."

Xiajun glared at the worker and then sighed. "Tell him that Detective Li Xiajun is here to meet him."

Xiajun's eyes followed the worker as he scurried away and peeked through a door set apart from the rest and came back promply.

"Chief Officer Guo says he'll meet you."
