Act 3, Chapter 4

You had expected the board but the only thing that greeted you in the chest for the time being was the coat that you found so extraordinary.

Without hesitation, Abir took it out and laid it on the floor next to her along with the pants and top that seemed to go together, revealing the earrings and underneath was the suit.

She just took these things out and put them on the floor.

Under the suit was what you were looking for and Abir's statement was confirmed.

The board laid almost representatively on the bottom of the chest, on it the book with the handprint and the long piece of fabric whose use you still couldn't point your finger at.

You scanned the inside of the box with your gaze.

The cuff was nowhere to be seen.

You took out the rest of the contents, the board and what was on it, but the cuff was not in the box.

You took the coat in your hands and shook it, and when nothing fell out, you shook the suit and pants as well.

"The last time it was in here too...where is this piece of junk?" You cursed quietly, you just wanted to get it all over with as quickly as possible and the cuff was essential for that.

And you had the feeling that you would break down at any moment if someone didn't at least try to help you soon.

"It's here, it has to be here.." Abir insisted and pressed her hands around the velvet that still covered the box as magnificently as last time.

Her hand suddenly stopped in one place before she asked herself about the scissors.

When you handed them to her shortly afterwards, she didn't hesitate to cut and rip open the velvet.

You mourned a bit about the beautiful fabric, but the mourning evaporated when Abir held the piece of wood in front of your nose.

The cuff was found and now you could finally start getting rid of the ghost in your house.

Abir had brought a candle meant for just that, a séance that would allow the medium to communicate with a spirit or even a demon on a wide spectrum as easily as possible.

While Abir was preparing the dining room table, you couldn't stop thinking about the fingerprint book.

Only today you had tried to read the title of it but you had noticed that you didn't speak the language in which it was written.

You weren't even familiar with the letters, you couldn't even tell what language it was.

But if Chrollo Lucilfer was a person from another country, how come he could write on the glass in your language?

Sure he died here but he couldn't have lived here long because the sketch you had of him displayed him young, your age and maybe a little older.

"Sit down." Abir suddenly spoke and tore you out of your stream of thoughts.

Now it was getting serious.

With slightly wobbly legs, you got up from the sofa and made your way to the square dining room table.

"You must place two fingers on the edge of the cuff, but do not apply pressure.  Only the letters that are in the opening of the cuff are valid. It varies from apparition to apparition how quickly or slowly it switches between the letters, but you will know which letter is meant."

She put her index and middle finger on the piece of wood and you did the same after wiping your slightly sweaty hands on your pants.

"We just have to get him to say goodbye to us too, it doesn't matter when we go 'godbye' as long as he does it during the séance. As soon as he's no longer welcome in the house, he can't come in anymore as long as you don't invite him back, he'll lose his powers. We can't force him into the afterlife but we can send him to a place where he can't harm anyone. If we successfully end the séance he'll just exist, nothing  further."

"And what if we don't make it?" you had to ask.

You needed to know an answer, you needed something to reassure you that you would get through this and not end up like your great-uncle.

But when Abir ignored your question with a smile, you wished you had never asked.

You realized that if you weren't careful, someone might die in this house tonight.

,,Let's begin."

Abir spoke a few words and phrases in Hebrew before pulling the cuff to "Hello."

She had already told you about her origins, that her name meant Brave Spirit and her family chose that name for her as she was descended from a line of mediums and the name was believed to imply potencies.

And you found her name to suit her.

"Chrollo, if you're here.." you suddenly felt very hot at these words, this name, "then move the cuff for us."

It was quiet for a few moments, nothing had changed.

"Chrollo Lucilfer, do you remember me?  I had been here many, many years ago-" you saw that she wanted to continue speaking but the cuff jerked to "Yes" and the air around you suddenly seemed very different.

The hair on the back of your neck stood up, goosebumps ran over you and only half a second later you understood why;  it was another presence in the room.

You pulled your fingers from the cuff in shock and pressed them against your chest as you jumped out of your seat.

You didn't know what you were expecting, you knew what was coming so why were you so scared of it?

"Calm down!" Abir said while grabbing your arm to stop you from moving further away from the table.

"It's all right." She assured you in a calm tone while carefully and slowly pulling you back towards the table, you automatically sat down again.

Your heart was still racing, the goosebumps were still on your skin, you still couldn't control your breathing and Chrollo's presence was still in the room.

"Take a deep breath in and out, nothing bad happened." Abir said.

'It's easy an easy talk for her' you thought, 'this is normal to her'.
