There it was! The famed storage ring! Every protagonist had to have one, and now it's Gran's turn to obtain it.

"We have no money though, maybe we can find another glowing ATM somewhere around here?" May muttered as she browse through the shop.

"OHHH, what a pretty armor. But it is so expensive haaa... I never thought the day would come where I could only window shop and not spend my parent's money." May said with a dejected look.

Gran looked at her with a weird gaze. How could you say that with a straight face!

"First let's see if we can find an ATM, I'm pretty sure there is a megamall nearby."

"Yes! The Craft City's megamall, Craft City's largest mall! We have to go!" May suddenly got excited, as she remembered that her favorite hang-out spot was nearby. When she was in school, she and her friends would always head to this megamall to shop around and have their delicious cuisine.

A megamall, different from normal shopping malls is not named that way because it was huge. They weren't named megamall because of the variety of things one could buy from them. The most basic facility a megamall should have is the SpaceMail station. With that, items from all over the world can be mailed to the station in an instant. Of course, they could only buy inanimated nonliving objects as that was as far as research on teleportation could go without breaching some moral issues.

From a VR catalog headset, customers can change the location they shop at in virtual reality, and after they were done, pick up the things they bought from the SpaceMail Station.

More advanced megamalls have SpaceCuisine stations that could also serve food from afar. Different from SpaceMail, which had to have its items packed in a container that stabilize the temperature to the optimum level suitable for teleportation, SpaceCuisine had special functions that retain the freshness of the food albeit at a higher cost.

If food was packed normally and sent through the SpaceMail, its uneven temperature will affect the entropy surrounding it, which could greatly affect the teleportation.

The megamall in Craft's City is a more advanced one, although it doesn't really matter now that no one in their right mind would come shopping during this time.

...

No one except for May.

With the appearance of the megamall, May totally transformed into a rich young lady, going from store to store, picking out things she wanted. With a swat of her arms, the zombies in the store would be flung out for daring to disturb her peace.

Of course, she wouldn't be paying this time.

With her wide range of knowledge about which brand is better, and where to find the best stuff, Gran was bested for the first time in his life since he descended the mountain. A true mountain bumpkin he was.

As Gran had no interest in shopping, the only time he went shopping was for his furniture.

May had several bags in her arm now, as Gran had no choice but to follow her around. How strange, was a shopping woman really so strong that even Gran couldn't help but helpless go with the flow?

Turns out the saying was true, doesn't matter if the world ends, nobody shall disturb a woman when she was shopping.

As Gran was waiting for May, he decided to see the price of the storage ring. He had read enough novels in his past time to know that this was essential in his journeys.

[Price]

| $100,000 New Currency, 1 White Core |

"Hmm seems quite cheap, now it depends on the exchange rate. Surely, it would not be this easy." Gran said as he was making some plans in his mind. He made an estimation of how much he would have to spend and how much he would have left for other things as he take into account the most probable exchange rate.

How does he decide on what the exchange rate would be? No one would ever know.

May walked out with a happy expression, turns out the limited edition dress came out just before the apocalypse hit. Lucky!

The dress was made by a world-renown designer, whose name even reached the 4 seas! The 4 seas were places outside the continent where civilization exists. Not much was disclosed about them to the public. They also did not share the same Wide-Net Network.

"So are you done?" Gran asked, with a slight frost in his tone. Plans have been delayed for too long.

"Aha yea I'm done!" May ignored her teacher's scary look and decided to be a good girl from now on.

"Good, I found an ATM. Let's go."

May stuck out her tongue as she followed behind him obediently.

Although Gran's tone was cold, he only did that so that May would give up on continuing her robbing spree. Inside, he was a little amused at her excitement when it came to shopping and nice outfits.

...

Gran and May stood beside the glowing ATM as they looked at the shop once again. However, this time their bank was connected to the shop, how convenient.

'Good the exchange rate was within my expectations. The plan can proceed.'

What exactly was the plan? Simple. He wanted to test if the stock in the shop is shared amongst the other survivor. It couldn't be infinite right? He also wanted to see if possible the refresh rate of said stock.

He wouldn't want to be at the mercy of some hoarder in case they decide to monopolize the shop with their cash.

"First thing on the list. We have to get the storage ring." Gran said as he took out the white core he got from the rat automaton.

With a single thought, the core was broken down into particles and disappeared along with some money from his bank account.

$10,000,000 gone just like that. Money is like water, you need it to survive, but when you have enough of it, you spend it like it's nothing.

"I guess the typical story of the poor reversing their fate during the apocalypse after gaining power is not that realistic after all." Gran said with a sigh, he really wanted to see if there was any main character type person who defied fate and rose up in power during this apocalypse.

Alas, the shop and banking system had just evened the playing field.

That is not to say the poor don't have a chance to rise up, it's just that it will be much harder considering the fact that the rich haven't lost everything due to the change. At least they kept their wealth, despite losing their power.

Mana does not discriminate. Of course, Gran again excludes himself from the hierarchy. He had both money and might, brains and brawns.

Gran was very arrogant individual, something is bound to happen if he continued with this attitude.

...

Next on the list, he had to buy something in the normal shop.

What was the best thing to hoard in an apocalypse? Of course, it was weapons. Some might say food, but if you are the only one with a weapon, won't all the food be yours? Of course, it's a different case if you let power get to your head and let your guard down.

As Gran was browsing through the weapon shop, May discovered that the option to buy a storage ring was greyed out for her.

This immediately confirmed Gran's theory that scarcity was indeed a thing, at least for the special items. Sadly, they could not buy any more special items as they did not have extra cores.

Gran had decided to purchase, in bulk, mana crossbows that they had for sale. Ranged weapons are always ore deadly. Be it in ambushes or assassinations, anyone's first choice was always a ranged weapon.

After buying 10 mana crossbows, the price of the mana crossbows finally changed from 1000P to 10,000P, which means a 10 times increase in price from $100,000 to $1,000,000.

Oh, how he pitied the poor once again, as no matter how strong they were if they couldn't face a man bolt head-on, they had no way of winning. That is assuming there was no way of earning new currency.

'I'm sure there are other ways.' He immediately refutes his thoughts about the poor not being able to fight back. Mana does not discriminate after all.

Now, with the 10 mana crossbows, he would not have to worry about not being able to fill up the space in his new storage ring. He had just bought it but now it was almost full!

'The lengths I go to in order to satisfy my curiosity.' Gran sighed.

...

May had a mana crossbow in her hands. Gran has already studied it and understood how it worked.

"You have to use it a few times, try sensing the mana flow as you do. Take your time." Gran instructed as usual.

May aimed at a target that was set up for this practice, sensing the mana flow in the crossbow, she pulled the trigger and fired.

After a few times, she finally memorized how the mana flowed, from the way it generated enough force, to the way it moved as it was shot out of the mana crossbow.

"Great, now there should be patterns on your mana circuits located at your hand and arm area that should resemble the mana flow in the mana crossbow. Now try following the same path."

May did just that. She aimed at the target with just her hand this time and replicate the mana flow she memorized from the mana crossbow.

*Boom*

A large sound rang out, as zombies started to swarm the place.

That was the least of May's concerns, however, as she stared dumbfoundedly at the aftermath of the experiment.

It was definitely much stronger than what a mana crossbow can produce.

I am happy so I release 1 more chapter :)))
