chapter 5: Awakening!

The air in the village of Mianra crackled with tension as families and their children waited in line for the Spirit Awakening Ceremony. Today, the fate of these young souls would be decided and their standing in the world would be set.

Among the crowds, Lin Feng stood tall, his determination clear in his eyes. He spoke with a woman, his Aunt Ming, who offered words of comfort and assurance.

"Xiao Feng, you know you can stay with us even if you don't become a Spirit Master," she said with a gentle smile.

Lin Feng's 'smile' was no less gentle. "I appreciate your concern, Aunt Ming, but I am certain that I will become a Spirit Master."

The minutes ticked by, each one heavy with anticipation. And then, finally, the moment arrived. The martial soul awakening that would determine Lin Feng's future paths and plans was about to begin.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, ready to face whatever lay ahead. This was the moment he had been waiting for, and nothing would stop him from achieving his dreams.

As Lin Feng approached the Spirit Hall, the exquisite markings on the door caught his eye. The hall itself was neither too large nor too small, but it exuded a certain mystique that made Lin Feng feels a certain type of captivating charm from it .

Upon entering, he noticed a group of children whispering excitedly and tensely amongst themselves, their conversations clearly excluding him. But he didn't mind.. Lin Feng had work to do, training with his sword from morning until night. The contact with other children was minimal, but it suited him just fine.

"Children, line up!" A voice echoed through the hall, heavy with authority.

In an instant, a man in his 40s appeared before them. His body seemed to be shrouded in a deep black aura.

"I am Yang Chung, the rank 33 Spirit Elder. This is my martial spirit, the Evernight Zulu Bat. Today, I will be your guide," he announced in a commanding tone, his black aura slowly dissipating.

The children lined up with expressions of awe and fear on their faces, but Lin Feng stood there with a serious expression.

He couldn't help but wonder, "If I were to use everything I have, would I be able to escape him?" Lin Feng scanned Yang Chung and shook his head, realizing that he couldn't. At least now he had a better understanding of the power one could possess at the level of a Spirit Elder.

"I need to visit other villages as well, so hurry up," Yang Chung instructed as he took out eight stones adorned with strange writings.

He infused the stones with spirit energy, causing them to glow. With a wave of his hand, the stones flew into the air and arranged themselves into an octagonal pattern.

The children looked on in awe as Yang Chung turned to them and said, "Line up from left to right, and walk one by one."

As the young boy with a somewhat chubby face approached the hexagonal pattern, his nerves were palpable.

The elder before him, Yang Chung, attempted to ease his apprehension with words of reassurance. "Don't be nervous," he said, "this won't hurt. In fact, it will feel rejuvenating."

The hexagonal pattern enveloped the child in a bright, all-encompassing light that radiated outwards. The child was surrounded by an aura that grew brighter and more intense by the moment.The sensation was electrifying, as though the pattern was awakening something deep within him.

As he emerged from the light, he looked down at his hand and saw a handkerchief that hadn't been there before. "A trash marital spirit does have very low combat potential," Yang Chung declared, noting the boy's spirit.

A crystal then materialized in the boy's hand, a tool that would help him test his spirit power. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing, as there was no change whatsoever. The boy did not possess any spirit power.

Yang Chung repeated this process with 10 to 15 children, each with their own martial spirit, ranging from sickles to sticks. Only one girl and one boy had spirit power, but lacked a strong martial spirit to support them. Although their lives would be somewhat better than those of ordinary people, Yang Chung was disappointed by the overall lack of progress.

With each unsuccessful test, Yang Chung's disappointment deepened.

Finally, it was Lin Feng's turn. As he approached the octagonal array, he took a deep breath and cheered himself on, hoping to awaken something good within him.

As the octagonal pattern covered him with a warm and comforting light, he closed his eyes and allowed himself to be enveloped in its embrace. He felt a surge of energy coursing through his body, and something within him began to stir. He couldn't quite put his finger on what it was.

As Lin Feng stood in the hexagonal array, he felt a strange sensation coursing through his body. He couldn't quite put his finger on what was happening Then, he felt the familiar rejuvenating feeling, and a constant stream of notifications flooded his vision

"Hoho This is a different type of martial spirit, a crown. This is my first time seeing it, but from my experience, it can be an auxiliary type martial spirit," said the spirit elder, inspecting Lin Feng with expectant eyes.

Lin Feng's attention was drawn to the crystal ball in the elder's hand. He put his hand on the ball and felt a rush of energy leaving his body and entering the crystal. The ball started to glow with a dim light

"Spirit energy level 4? Congratulations, you can become a spirit master," said the spirit elder, shaking his head with a tinge of disappointment.

Lin Feng felt a mix of emotions. He was excited that he could finally become a spirit master, but he also felt a sense of disappointment that his spirit energy level was not high enough.

"Now, system, start researching my crown martial soul," he said, determined to unlock the full potential of his martial spirit.

"Congratulations," Aunt Ming's cheerful voice grated on Lin Feng's nerves. He gave a 'smile', his mind already racing with plans for his future as a spirit master.

"I told you I would become a spirit master, didn't I?" he said with :feigned disappointment'. "Or did you doubt me?"

"Xiao Feng, it's not like that. You are misunderstanding," Aunt Ming explained, shaking her head.

"Let's forget about that because today is a day for celebration! Aunt Ming, I will also cook something for everyone," Lin Feng said.

"Xiao Feng, no. Today is your special day, so I will be cooking for you. Besides, this might be our last celebration together," Aunt Ming reminisced about their past month experiences.

" And this is why I will also cook for you , ok?" Lin feng said that because it might be last time he met them so he thought he goona cook for them with the spirit vegetable which might give them healthy life or can heal disease they may have and even prolonge their life.

So at least.....he returned what he owe from like helping him staying here..?

After the celebration had ended, a bittersweet atmosphere lingered around the village. Some children were even crying.

But Lin Feng decided to lift their spirits by sharing his mediocre dishes made with spirit vegetables. He even made special dishes for the village elder and Aunt Ming, which everyone enjoyed immensely.

I become disappointed with the class I got received from the 'Random Class Card', as my martial spirit, the Crown, was of an auxiliary type with low combat potential. It felt as if the world was conspiring against me, destined to make me a supporting character.

Sighing in disappointment, I turned to the System, asking, "Have you finished scanning my martial spirit? If so, show me the results."

I touched my Crown as I spoke, hoping that there was more to my martial spirit than I had initially thought.

I Felt a deep sense of unease, as if someone was waiting for me, but I couldn't quite put my finger on who or what it might be. As the pain crept across my face, I tried to push aside these thoughts and focus on the task at hand .

"Entropy"

In that instant, his body became consumed in a crackling sound, akin to the violent discharge of a thunderstorm. Fiery orange electricity surged from his fingertips, coursing through his veins and igniting his blood.

"It feels like my muscles are being stretched to their limits!" he exclaimed, his every fiber straining under the intensity of the power. His heart raced, blood surged fiercely through his veins, and his body quaked from the exertion of this newfound ability.

After a few intense moments, Lin Feng finally released the activation, his body trembling with the aftereffects.

"It's feels like a violent surge of energy, simultaneously destroying and enhancing me," Lin Feng responded, still touching his right arm, where the orange electricity had flowed.

"I've never felt anything like it before," he continued. "And that's why I haven't chosen my cultivation technique until now. I wanted to know what type of Martial Soul I have and in what aspect I need to improve myself."

Lin Feng paused for a moment, a small smile spreading across his face. "But now I know what type of technique I need to choose," he said confidently.
