Chapter 20: Returning the Golden Claw

With the corpse dead...again...I took its weapon and stored it away into my inventory and found that it had a strange stone tablet that I couldn't understand on its back, and seeing that it looked somewhat important, I put it away into my inventory before walking over to the large chest that sat next to its sarcophagus and opened it.

Inside I found(It won't always be weapons and armor or any of that kind of stuff since MANY years passed since anyone last opened the chest, so I am trying to make it more Lore-Friendly) a handful of jewels and a couple of bags of Septims.

[A/N: It is pronounced Septims, not Septum's, look on the wiki if you're curious]

I also found a few rusted swords and even an old bow that looked badly damaged from time and finally, there were a few potions.

Storing all of the items into my inventory, I began making my way back through the Crypt, looting any valuable I could find, including the Bandit's weapons.

By the time I was done and back outside the Barrow, it was the evening, and in a few hours, the night would arise.

Climbing down the mountain, I reached Riverwood just at sunset, instead of immediately going over to the General Store and returning the Golden Claw, I first went to the local Inn and rented a room for the night, but not before getting my fill of food and water.

I was surprised by how...energetic Nords were when it came to drinking alcohol and partying...

I even had some fun with the locals before hitting the hay and waking up the next morning with a killer headache.

Thanking the two innkeepers, Delphine and Orgnar, for their service I left and headed for the town's blacksmith, Alvor, as I walked over to the blacksmith's forge, I thought back to the night before.

Although I partied with the Nords and drank quite a bit of Mead, I notice something strange with one of the Innkeepers, Delphine.

The woman always walked with trained steps and she was always in a position to counter an attack, I only knew of one kind of person like this, a Warrior, a Soldier of the Battlefield...

Although I knew she had a story to her, I did not pry into her secrets.

Soon I reached Alvor's Forge where I found the man wearing only pants as he was soaked in sweat and hammered down on a red-hot piece of iron.

Instead of distracting him, I instead waited and observed the man working his craft.

After an hour passed the man finally managed to create a simple but efficient steel sword.

He then looked over to me and nodded before saying, "Thank you for waiting, what can I do for you?"

"Ah yes, I had some weapons I scavenged off from some bandits and am willing to sell them to you for a cheap price, so long as you show me the ways of your craft," I persuaded the muscular blacksmith.

"Then we have ourselves a deal! Why don't you pile those weapons over there and come over here and grab two iron ingots and some leather strips," He told me as he put the sword on a weapon rack along with more than a dozen other swords.

After pilling the weapons onto the table and grabbing the materials he told mentioned he suggested I take off my shirt seeing as we would be standing in extreme heat, and he was definitely not kidding since it felt like I was standing in an oven once I stepped closer to the forge.

Doing as he suggested, he then had me hook the ingot to a rod and then push the ingot into the forge to start heating up.

[A/N: Since I am not an expert...]

Once half an hour passed I had two small sharpened iron throwing knives before me, Alvor didn't question my choice but instead actually complimented me for my craftsmanship.

Thanking him for his time, he paid me 150 Septims for the bandit's weapons just before I left and walked over to the General Store.

Once I reached the General Store and entered, I found Lucan behind the counter waiting for a customer.

"Ah, my friend! Did you have a safe journey?" He asked with a professional smile.

"Yea even got back the claw, and while I was at it, I raided the crypt and got me some goodies I am willing to sell to you," I told him with a smile before pulling out the Golden Claw and the bag of jewels.

"Here's the money for your troubles," he told me before handing me a bag that contained 800 Septims.

"Thanks, you willing to buy these Gems?" I asked handing him the bag full of Gems and Jewels.

"Sure, I don't mind taking these off your hands, I even got a few buyers in Solitude that would be willing to buy these from me for a good price," Lucan told me before paying me 2,500 Septims for the Gems and Jewels.

"Pleasure doing business with you," Lucan told me.

"No problem, would you happen to have any uh...spell tomes, I believe they are called, for sale?" I asked.

"I think I do...hold on, let me go see," He told me before returning minutes later with a stack of books in his arms.

"I found these, there is a Spell Tome on Flames, Healing, Oakflesh, Candlelight, and Lesser Ward and even a book on the manipulation of Magicka, I am willing to part with all of these for...let's say, 2,000 Septims," Lucan told me.

"Deal," I told him before storing all of the books into my inventory.

I noticed that no one seemed to care about my inventory or the sudden disappearance of the items, which helped me greatly.

"So where are you heading now?" Lucan asked curiously.

"Whiterun, Ralof told me something about a group called the...Companions?" I told Lucan trying to remember the name of the group of warriors.

"Good luck!" Lucan told me as I soon left the Store.
