New Friends at Old Wellspring

"Why isn't he back yet..?" My friend asked. "It's been an entire day. No way those rumors are true."

"Should we go check? I mean what if he's in actual danger..?" My other friend asked.

"Fuck no! I refuse to check and die! He'll be coming back." My friend gulped.

Meanwhile in Esoria...

I groaned and held my head, sitting up on a bed. I looked around and noticed I was in someone's room. I looked at the door, seeing it open.

"Good Morning! I'm glad to see you rested well." The woman smiled and looked at me, holding a tray.

I looked at her up and down then remembered it was the woman I had saw when I first came here. "Did you bring me here?"

"Nu-uh, Feno did. After your game, you just passed out. Feno told me, 'Can you let him live with you for a few days until we find him a suitable home?' then I said sure!" The woman walked to me and giggled.

She smiled then slipped and everything spilled on me. I groaned and a pancake fell onto my lap.

At the Tavern...

"And that's why you two are eating here?" Ikeshia laughed and pat the table. "Could you be more of a klutz, Myrrh?"

"I-It's not funny mmm..." She blushed and just munched on her pancakes.

I took out my phone and saw I had no signal. Ikeshia looked at me and saw my phone in my hand.

"Ahh a cellphone. Unfortunately that form of technology from Earth is too weak to pick up any form of signal in Esoria." Ikeshia said.

"Too weak?" I asked.

"Esoria's signal waves are ten times more powerful than Earth. Instead of 5G, we have 50G. It's time for an upgrade! Say hello to the Sapphire Note 1!" Ikeshia pulled out an extra smartphone from her pocket.

I took the phone from her pocket and looked at her suspiciously. "It's pretty fucking convenient you just have an extra phone in your pocket..."

"I don't know what you're talking about, my friend." Ikeshia sipped on her beer.

"Mhm...anyway what can it do?" I asked.

"Almost everything a smartphone can do, but better." Ikeshia nodded. "The features include, an app store, messaging apps, a vehicle summoning app, gaming apps, social media apps, a teleportation app, and much more! Us Elves made this phone because no one else wanted to and the Humans, yeah they are kinda low on numbers."

I scrolled through the phone and clicked on the contacts. It was the basic four people I've met: Ikeshia, Faylen, Feno, and Myrrh. I looked at the phone.

"I recommend you use the GPS to explore my village. Oh yeah and I formally welcome you to Old Wellspring. I am Ikeshia, chief of this elven village. If you ever need anything, you can catch me drunk 24/7 at the tavern because leading everyone is a pain in my ass." Ikeshia said.

"Right." I nodded.

.....

I stood outside and clicked on the GPS. I stepped forward then Myrrh hurried in front of me and held her hands out. I looked at her.

"Let me show you around!" Myrrh pleaded.

"M-Mmph...Right. Alright, lead the way." I said.

"Hurray!" Myrrh hopped in the air.

'Hurray? The fuck? Who says hurray other than Drake when he gets excited?' I thought to myself.

Myrrh marched forward and I dragged behind. Feno sat on a branch of a tree with his back against the tree and watched, smiling. Faylen was carrying a basket of apples for an old lady, often stumbling. Ikeshia was still getting drunk at the tavern.

'I could get used to this life...' I smiled to myself.

Myrrh looked back and saw me smiling then smiled happily herself. She slowed down so she could walk beside me. "So, how are you liking our village? It's bigger than you expected huh?"

"Yeah, it's big enough to have horses travel from one place to the other, but not big enough for vehicles." I answered.

"Old Wellspring is one of the most peaceful villages known to Esoria. We don't do much fighting unless it's at the academy." Myrrh said.

I nodded and saw the academy she spoke of then looked back at her. "That reminds me, Ikeshia told me what she does. What do you, Feno, and Faylen do?"

"Well I work at an inn, but only at night time. The woman who worked before me at the inn kinda just left. She said it was boring and slammed her name tag on the counter." Myrrh said.

I imagined the scene go down in my head and smiled. I'd probably do the same if I was honest.

"Feno is the Protector of Old Wellspring. Whenever a crime takes place, mind you the only crime that happens here is thieving and misconducts between two people such as fights, he is always quick to settle it. Oh look there he is right now." Myrrh pointed.

"Now now, you should know stealing is bad. What would your parents think if they saw you stealing?" Feno crouched down and took the apple from the child's hand.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Faevaris.." The young boy looked down.

Feno ruffled his head and smiled then walked to the store to pay for the apple and bought an extra one. He walked out the store then gave the boy both apples. "Here. Remember, don't steal anything from now on okay?"

"O-Okay!" The young boy smiled and ran off.

"Fuckhead children stealing merchandise. You fuckhead protector just let him off the hook!" Faylen puffed her cheek. "That was my hard earned paycheck! I can't just be letting people steal merchandise!"

"Come on Faylen, he's just a child. He's not even old enough to play the Game of Lust or even play the Game of Life. Cut him some slack." Feno sighed.

"You and your sister get on my nerves." Faylen huffed and walked into the store.

"Sister?" I asked.

"Oh you didn't know, Ikeshia and Feno are brother and sister. Twins to be exact. Feno is the older twin by exactly one minute." Myrrh smiled.

"Huh...Faevaris Twins." I looked at Feno and watched him walk to us.

"Hey there Leon, Myrrh. Just strolling around the village. You sure work fast Leon, already on a date with a Princess." Feno nudged me with his elbow.

"Oh piss off.." I blushed and pushed him away from me. "We're not in a date."

"I mean it kinda seems like one.." Myrrh blushed and twisted from side to side.

"If it were up to me, I'd be walking alone. I didn't ask you to come with." I scoffed.

Feno chuckled and pat my shoulder then walked past us. "Just avoid doing anything devious. I'd hate to bring you to justice."

"You don't gotta worry about me, everyone in this village could destroy me in mere seconds without the help of Ikeshia's magic." I shrugged.

"Alright then. You two have a good day." Feno chuckled.

Myrrh and I pressed forward and she showed me around more. After a while, we walked back to the academy because I was genuinely interested in it. We walked into the building and heard a huge explosion.

"Get...back...here..." A familiar voice sounded.

"Out of my way! The chick's insane!" A male student ran towards us.

Faylen appeared in front of the male and grabbed his face. She glared while blushing. "You like peeking in the girl's locker room? You perverted scum..."

"Faylen, also goes to this academy. She's actually half human, half elf. Her mother is an elf and her father is a human. Her parents' whereabouts are unknown but Ikeshia and Feno take care of her like a younger sister." Myrrh giggled and watched.

I walked forward and grabbed Faylen's shoulder gently. She looked at me and I gave her a slight smile. She sighed and calmed down then set the guy down.

"You're lucky my friend was here to stop me from absolutely obliterating you!" Faylen said.

The male whimpered and thanked me then ran off in a hurry. I watched him and sighed then looked at Faylen.

"Once again you're going to murder someone over A Cups." I said.

"Listen buddy! I don't want people seeing my body! Besides why are you here..?" She folded her arms.

"In this world Magic is key. I told him the Academy was the best place to learn magic. The Game of Lust isn't an easy game to play after all since a game could start at any moment." Myrrh said.

"Hm. Well you don't need to register for lessons. I can show you to my class." Faylen said.

I nodded and smiled at her. "Please do."

Faylen nodded and grabbed my arm. I grunted as she had a firm grip on my arm. The more I attempted to pull away from her, the harder she gripped my arm.

"I'll see you two later!" Myrrh waved and giggled.

In the classroom...

"Alright students, today we will go over magic control. Magic control is easy once you get the process down, your emotions play a huge part in magic control and-"

"Sorry I'm late Ailas sensei." Faylen said walking into class. "I actually brought a friend with me."

Ailas and the other students looked at me. The students looked a bit surprised to see me and Ailas turned his head to look forward. He adjusted his mask and lowered his hand.

"It's fine. Take your seats. Luckily we aren't too far off from the beginning areas of the magic lessons. We should go back to the first lesson for our new student. Magic Channelling." Ailas said then looked at Faylen.

"Faylen, you will help him learn to channel magic and summon his aura. You humans seem to know a lot about aura and chakra. It should be easy if you are a spiritual person." Ailas said.

'Yeah I'm far from spiritual.' I thought to myself.

"You have a week to do so. That will be your test. How you teach him is up to you." Ailas said.

"Yes sir." Faylen said then stood up and looked at me. "Let's go. We have some training to do."

"M-Mmph..." I grunted then reluctantly stood up.

Faylen led me out of the classroom and we walked out the academy. "I know a perfect spot for us to train. Feno and I train here often."

"I have only one request." I said.

"What?" Faylen looked at me and stopped walking.

"Please don't kill me out there." I pleaded. "My friends are probably worried about me."

"Friends? The people who basically dragged you here? Ha! They aren't your friends if they send you to your death. Even if you did manage to find your way back to the gates, you can't leave once you cross those gates. Your fate is sealed." Faylen said.

"Sealed..?" I asked.

"This is your home now. Your life starts now, with some magic training." Faylen smiled at me.

I looked at her then gave it some thought. I closed my eyes then smirked. "I guess you're right...Yeah let's get my new life started."

"Good. Now let's go." Faylen walked forward and I followed behind her.
