9 First day (part 2)

"My name is Sabaku Gaara. From the Sabaku clan."

I saw the blue-haired kid flinch at my words, but he quickly regained his composure. It's weird because ever since I arrived, he's been non-stop shaking.

Oh well, can't blame him. A commoner in this class... He must be at least a little scared.

After we finished introducing ourselves, Tadao-Sensei, who I'm now going to call raccoon-face, (He really looks like a raccoon) Started speaking again... Gaining the class's attention once more.

I immediately noticed that his tone changed to a friendlier one... This made me struggle very hard to not burst out laughing.

"Alright. As you can see from your schedule, we have class from now (8 AM) to 10. After that, comes rest time. You are free to go to the cafeteria and playground, or the school library if you want to. Your choice."

Library? Good... There might be some more interesting stuff that wasn't available in my father's.

"Okay, for the first lesson, we're going to learn about some of the village's history. Can anyone tell me who the founder of the village was? And in what period it was formed?"

Everyone raised their hand, including me... Although it was made of sand.

The teacher then chose the blonde girl, Sumire.

"Our village, Sunagakure, was formed by lord first... Reto-sama. He single-handedly forced the creation of the village by unifying all of the sand-dwelling shinobi with his incredible charisma and power. All of this happened during the warring states period."

With the last word, I caught her glancing at me for a moment before blushing and looking back towards sensei. The red-head, Shijirou, seemed to notice and clicked his tongue... Crossing his arms in anger. Oh no... Spare me from this hassle.

Well, whatever. She missed some details, like how the creation of the villages ended the Warring States period... And that Sabaku Reto attended the first-ever Kage Summit. Where the tailed beasts were distributed.

Although there's no way she'd know that much. She's five, after all.

Raccoon-face started speaking again.

"Well said, Sumire. Can you name all of the Kazekage that followed after the first?"

Well, I can already tell that these classes are going to be boring.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the first three hours of the day, we learned about history, arithmetic, and language. There wasn't really any shinobi training yet.

Of course, this was all a piece of cake for me.

When the bell rang, the teacher rose up and spoke once more.

"Alright, well done. I have to say, you guys are better students than I expected. Especially Gaara and Sumire. If you continue at this pace, the results will be fantastic. As for you, Jun... You should learn from your classmates."

Shijiro (the red-head) chuckled, and Jun's head drooped down in shame. I watched without saying anything.

That Sumire girl was still shooting glances at me though. which makes me quite uncomfortable.

When the teacher dismissed us, I waited for most of them to leave.

I then got up and started walking towards the library. The schedule says that I have an hour to rest, so I'll use it effectively.

On the way there, I saw children running around the corridors... screaming and laughing.

Man are they're annoying...

As I walked, I thought about what I would find in the library. Fuinjutsu? Ninjutsu? Can't wait. My father's library was great, but it didn't have much in terms of techniques. Only some very complex ones that I sadly couldn't comprehend.

Suddenly, I felt a small push from behind. Almost falling, I easily regained my balance with the help of my sand.

Oh yeah, someone's gonna die.

Looking behind me, I saw a kid about my age. He looked scared, and his friend was running away already. Must have bumped into me while playing catch.

The reason why the sand shield didn't protect me should have been the fact that the kid had no intention to harm. It probably registered it like it would a normal handshake.

As soon as I lay my eyes on the kid, the urges came through once more. Flooding my head with suggestions to murder the boy.

I once again grabbed my head in pain and got on one knee. After a few seconds, I turned my head towards him and spoke, my voice chilling the air.

"Leave. If this happens again, I won't hold back."

The kid nodded, as if thanking me, and ran away as fast as he could. I got back up and suppressed my pain, resuming my walk towards the library. Thankfully no one else saw that.

Once I got there, I was greeted by an amazing sight. Ten or so bookshelves with at least a couple hundred books. I wonder why the academy needs so much knowledge?

Restraining myself, I walked towards the librarian's counter and asked her to explain the rules. She obediently did so, and I thanked her before heading back to the books.

She basically told me that we could only take one book with us home and that it would have to be given back in a week at the maximum. If not, compensation was required.

Hehehe... What she doesn't know, is that with my memory function, I can take the whole library back home if I wanted to.

Although this won't be the case.

I think that it's boring. During my time in this world, I started to like reading. It soothes my mind and helps to get in the mood before meditation. That's why it took me so long to register all of the books in my father's library.

In the next seven years, I'm going to read every single book in this library, and appreciate all of them!

Gloating, I performed the third eye technique and sent it to scout out all of the books... Starting with the Fuinjutsu section. What... I'm not lazy. I just don't want to get up the ladders to look at books.

After ten minutes of searching, I found what I needed. I raised my hand and controlled some sand as it slowly brought the book to me.

Dusting off the cover, I read the title once more. 'Fuinjutsu: Introduction.'

Ahh, just what I needed. Finding a corner, I sat on one of the couches and silently started to read. The book was very interesting.

I read about what Fuinjutsu was, it's principles, uses, and history. I even read about the Uzumaki clan, who were the most proficient in it.

As I read in peace, I heard a loud crashing sound. Taking my attention off the book, I observed the area from which the sound came from. Apart from me and the librarian, no one else was supposed to be here.

"Who is it?"

"Ah, I messed up... Hello, Gaara. How have you been?"

A silhouette that was hiding behind a bookshelf slowly made itself visible. It was a girl, and she had blonde hair that was tied up into four spiky buns.

"Temari?"

I didn't expect to see her on the first day... Like Shikamaru would say, what a drag.

———————————————————————

On the roof of the library, Rasa was sitting down next to the academy's headmaster.

The headmaster looked too old to even walk and had his head covered in bandages. His eyebrows were so long they reached his chin.

If Gaara was here, he would recognize this man as Chiyo's brother, Ebizo.

Rasa's face was serious, with no trace of emotion. One could not tell what he was thinking.

"That kid learned the third eye technique by himself, that's a surprise. Furthermore, his control over sand is way better than I expected... Must be the Ichibi."

(An: Ichibi means one tail.)

"Kazekage-dono... Gaara was apparently great in class, and has showcased knowledge transcending his age. He really reminds me of you when you were younger."

Rasa looked at the headmaster deeply, and put his hand on his forehead, letting out a sigh.

"I really don't know how this happened. I expected him to be a failure, and thus neglected him. Now he's shining on his own."

Ebizo smiled lightly and put his hand on Rasa's back in a show of affection.

"Maybe, just maybe, If you try to be a father... He will accept you with open arms."

Rasa looked at the hawks circling the sky, sighing once again.

"It's too late for me to be a father. Gaara will be our greatest weapon, and Suna will rise from this predicament. I shall sacrifice anything for the village... After all, I am the Kazekage."
