8 First day (Part 1)

( A/N: I made a small mistake last chapter, and gave Jun the wrong family name. It's been fixed, but just so you know, from now on I'm going with Tatsu Jun.

Also, I wanted to make something clear if it wasn't. The main plot for Gaara has taken a major turn, and thus some things won't happen by consequence. Gaara has never shown any signs of being out of control or a beast, so although his father treats him like a tool, he doesn't neglect him or isolate him from others. I don't think the original Gaara even went to school, to begin with. So just keep that in mind, although the people are scared of Gaara, they don't have orders to ignore him, treat him poorly or anything like that. That said, main plot in Konoha is still happening at the moment, no changes whatsoever.

Happy reading! )

"What? Do I have something on my face?"

The shy-looking one, Midori, looked away in fear. Her sister though, got up and walked in front of me. She then extended her hand.

"Hi, my name is Arashi Saori. The girl behind me is Midori, my sister. Nice to meet you, Gaara-sama."

Well, she does have some manners... Unlike others.

Nodding quietly, I made a hand with my sand and shook hers with it. This seemed to surprise her.

What, never seen some sand?

Arashi... That rings a bell though... Oh, I remember.

When I was reading history books in the library, I learned a lot about Sunagakure. Kishimoto had kept a lot in the dark, that sneaky guy. (AN: Naruto's Author. Oh... And major info dump incoming, brace yourselves.)

From what I recall, the village follows a very simple structure... There are the normal citizens, the noble families, and the Kazekage clan.

The noble families possess the strongest genes and are the only ones that maintain a similar structure to that of the clans in Konoha, albeit less strict. I'll explain why.

The four noble families consist of:

The Arashi family, who are the original iron-fan users and the biggest clan in terms of population. Most of their members have wind affinity.

The Dami family, who specialize in puppeteering. They were the ones who created ninja puppets in the first place. Chiyo is from this family.

The Hoki Family, who specialize in medical ninjutsu and are a matrilineal clan. Thus their secret abilities are only passed down to females. They are a very strong, but small family.

The Tatsu family, who specialize in the use of swords. They are by far the weakest noble family in terms of power... And thus do not hold much say over the village's politics.

Finally, the only real clan in the entire village is the Sabaku clan. We have remained the strongest bloodline since the inception of the village itself. This is mostly due to us being the first's descendants, who formed the village by forcing the noble families into joining him with an iron fist.

Since then, all of the Kazekage have been from this clan. It's almost like royalty at this point.

(AN: Since his clan is dubbed as Kazekage clan, I changed it to the desert (Sabaku) clan. If you don't like it, eat a pizza or something... That'll cheer you up.)

The rest of the village is comprised of mixed bloodlines... This is due to the fact that the other families, once established in the village, were slowly absorbed by the bigger ones over time.

Sadly, this was a result of the members belonging to the weaker families marrying into the bigger ones, in search of higher standing.

Their bloodlines were slowly forgotten, and the village (outside of the noble families) now functions just like modern society.

The academy works similarly to the one in Konoha, but with a twist. In their final year, students that have shown enough talent will be allowed to choose a specialization. The ones available are Kugutsutsukai (Puppet Technique), Tessenjutsu (Iron Fan Technique), Medicine, and Kenjutsu (Sword Technique).

Here's an example... If a student shows talent in chakra manipulation, they might be offered to learn The art of Puppeteering. They will only learn the basics though, because the noble families would never reveal their hidden techniques to strangers.

Through this sharing of basic skills, the Sand remains strong even in its circumstances. This is all thanks to the first Kazekage, who put the rule into place. Commoners with potential will always get to learn strong techniques from the families.

Of course, their loyalty will be tested before any of this happens.

What they do, or how much they develop is up to them. As long as they remain loyal to the village.

Phew... And that is all. It still surprises me how well I can remember information thanks to the system. Written tests will be a piece of cake, hehe.

As I was gloating, the classroom door was fiercely opened. What seemed like our teacher made his way in.

A man, probably in his late thirties, placed his files on the podium. He then proceeded to write his name on the board using chalk. When he was done, he turned around and looked at us with an annoyed expression.

Feeling the disgust in his eyes, I immediately stared back with the most intimidating expression I could muster. When he noticed, he swiftly dodged my gaze and looked at the red-hair from before.

Yeah, that's right. Back down. I'm king here.

"Greetings... My name is Tadao, but you may call me Tadao-Sensei. Introduce yourselves, starting with you, in the corner."

We then proceeded in order from right to left.

"The name is Shijirou, from the Dami family."

That was the condescending red-head from earlier.

"Hoki Sumire. Heir to the Hoki family."

This girl had long, blonde hair. Complimented by her pretty hazel eyes.

What, can't I appreciate beauty when I see it? She's not my type though... Must be at least eighteen.

"Tatsu Jun... The one who will become the Kazekage!"

Heh, the hot-head from earlier. Try all you want, but I'll be Kazekage... Not you.

"M-Midori... From the Arashi family..."

"Saori. Also from the Arashi family."

These two look so similar, yet are so different. I wonder what their upbringing was like...

Interrupting my thoughts, another student introduced themselves.

"Koji. No family name."

The whole class looked at him, surprised. For a commoner to be in 1-A must mean that he's got some serious talent.

His eyes and hair were deep-blue, aside from that, he looked quite bland. Finally, it was my turn to introduce myself.

"Sabaku Gaara. From the Sabaku clan."

I made sure to say my family name twice, that'll teach them some manners.
