CHAPTER 28: TESTING THEN TROUBLE

' My transformations are insane! ', Zane thought, he could now multiply his power up to 150x stronger if he wanted, not even considering what his dragon form could achieve. Even as he was sitting, he saw the dragons' multiplier kept increasing, moving from 7 to 9 times, and is rising consistently. The form itself was created a little over 2 minutes ago.

But what bothered him currently was that he also saw the form had a caution message next to it. Saying it was unstable.

' Of course, it's unstable. I can't test it here either. I'm too afraid of what I can do. ' He said, sighing. The thought genuinely scared him. He had a hunch that insanity was the price of his transformation, a price he couldn't pay right now. At least not on earth.

However, he was at least glad about how strong he could potentially become. An overall 1,350 times strength amp was lethal... And it wasn't done growing either.

*SLAM!!*

Zane's train of thought forcibly cut off. " We need to talk. NOW ", said the person in a commanding tone. It was none other than the dark knight himself, and he wasn't happy. " *sigh* Okay... I am coming ", Zane said. He didn't want to upset the hero anymore than he appeared to be. Following him without much question. Even though Zane didn't like the unwelcomed visit, he let it slide, with the only reason being the knowledge about his powers.

Walking down the hall, they finally managed to enter a room, it was extremely large, big enough to hold at least a couple hundred people with a decent space between each person.

Zane followed batman who told him to sit in his appointed seat, while the knight went to the another one. Heroes who he hadn't seen before were here, all the justice league and young justice members who weren't so young anymore, but now adults. With the X-MEN and Avengers as well with other lesser known heroes too.

Sitting down, with both fury's and batman's gaze on him, fury spoke to continue.

" As you all know, we succeeded in finding the mysterious helper that helped stop the earth's invasion half a year ago. Most of you have not seen him before due to... unfortunate circumstances or bad timing. But he is here now. This is Zane walker. Give a round of applause for mister walker everyone! "

Zane smiled with everyone clapping in respect for his help half a year ago. Hitting a loud bell to signify to stop clapping, fury sat up, smiling.

" Now, since introductions are out of the way. Mister Zane. Could you please tell us where you were for the past 21 days? ". Silence filled the room. Zane was a sweating for a bit. He was sure he wasn't gone for any more than three hours, tops. But he didn't show any visible expression.

He quickly came up with responses that eluded truth readers, while still holding onto info he had about his true where about. "...Somewhere private ". Zane said. He had a hunch that superman was checking if he was telling any lies, with other heroes too. He felt attacks towards his mind, but they weren't anything he couldn't handle. No doubt Xavier was doing it with others, too.

" Can you tell us EXACTLY where you went? " Now it was batman himself who asked. He wanted more info on whatever zane was doing.

" No... I won't tell you ". He said. He didn't owe them any answers, either. He's a grown man (mentally) and he wouldn't be treated like some child who had done wrong. The room seemed to turn a few degrees lower. " If you don't want to be sent off planet, I suggest you answer. Quickly ". Zane looked up, his eyes changing from amethyst to a glowing crimson red.

Heroes picked up on the sudden shift in his mere aura, but didn't say anything or moved either. Not even superman himself. Their instincts were telling them to not mess with the being in front of them, or they would regret it. Dearly.

" Enough! " shouted the female. Knowing where this path of questioning would lead to " I do not think that question is appropriate... some beings are entitled to privacy after all, or do you disagree? Yes, he may have breached the agreement, but who didn't? Many of us here breached that same protocol and nothing has happened. " Wonder woman said in Zane's defence. She knew batman would do something like this the moment he had the chance. And she wouldn't let him go through whatever he wanted this time.

The air felt lighter once more, with zane's eyes returning to normal. He shrugged mentally. Zane didn't need all THIS. He can come back to earth another time. Zane could tell that this would get annoying quickly, and it was better to nip it in the bud as quickly as possible. " It is fine. I'm leaving. I don't need to stay here. I can find another planet. " Zane said. " Wai- ", but before the wonder woman could say anything more, batman beat her to it.

" Superman. Now! ", Superman went flew in front of zane to stop him. " I am, truly sorry zane, but you are far too risky to be let loose doing whatever you want... you're going to have to come with me " Superman said solemnly.

" Superman... " the air returned to being cold once more. His eyes shifting to its crimson hue again. " Move or else... I do not want to hurt you. " Zane said. Superman hesitated for a moment, sensing the pressure exuding off of zane.

Attempting to grab Zane quickly. Zane shifted to the side without touching superman. Superman attempted once more, only to be casually dodged again. He kept using more power, eventually grabbing him. Only for Zane to grasp his wrist. Superman was in shock. He used a relatively decent amount of power, but he was getting shrugged off this easily. He knew zane was strong, but to be this powerful is trouble.

Zane kept Superman's wrist in his hand, while superman stared on with a look of pure disbelieve. " Superman, I'm only going to say this once more... Move aside... " This time, Zane's voice was a little deeper, with even more pressure exuding off of him. The heroes present looked and starred with shock as well. The superman was getting... out-brawn?

Only one was capable of doing that what zane had accomplished, and that was the hulk, but only replicated when he was relatively angry and blood lusted. While zane did the same without much effort put into it. Even IF superman held back, they couldn't believe that Zane could be this powerful.

Superman was confident as well. He was training and sun dipping for the last half a year (he was juggling his job too), and gained tremendous amounts of power, more than he could even imagine too. Even if he was holding back, his grip was powerful enough to throw and crush an entire planet with ease.
