2 Chapter 2: Singing Competition

Sitting on work chairs in a recording studio were The Hintz. Sam said "ugh where is Dawn? The auditions are about to start!" Danny said "yeah we need our coffee." Dawn walked in the room holding a cup holder with five medium coffees in her hands and a clipboard in her mouth. Dawn's hair was messed up and she had a hole in her dark blue jeans. She spit out the clipboard and Danny asked "are you okay?!" Dawn answered "yeah I..." Danny ran up to her and interrupted saying "not you the coffee! One of the cups has a dent in it. The poor thing! What did the bad Dawn do to you?" Dawn shouted "if you don't take this stupid cup holder we're going to have some serious problems!" Danny took the cup holder and said "my, my, my aren't we a bit sassy today." Dawn sighed and Bev asked "what happened to you? You look like you were attacked by a group of animals." She grabbed the clipboard while saying "I was attacked by a group of animals and that group of animals are you fans." Sam said "dang how many fans are out there?" Dawn answered "A few hundred." The Hintz said "a few hundred...." Dawn said "well what did you expect you are a big band a lot of people are going to show up." Rec said "were going to be here for hours." Dawn put the clipboard in her mouth, fixed her hair, took the clipboard out of her mouth, and said "well we might as well get started so we can finish. I'll send in the first person." She left to get the first auditioner and Danny asked "are you ready to see a bunch of money hungry fans?" Rec answered "we're as ready as we'll ever be." Dawn walked in with a teenaged girl who had pigtails. The girl wore a green dress that cut off at her knees, and black flats. Dawn said "okay guys this is Rachael Jolly." Rachael ran up to shake their hands while saying "its a pleasure to meet you all." The Hintz said "its good to meet you to." Bev said "why don't you go into the recording room so we can hear what you got." She entered the recording room and Sam asked "okay do you know Her Beating Heart?" Rachael answered "of course I do, that's my favorite song you guys did!" Rec said "okay good sing your heart out." They played the instrumental and Rachael started singing in a screechy high pitched voice. The boys had a surprised look on their faces while Dawn covered her face behind the clipboard trying to hide her face because she was laughing. Sam stopped the music and Rec said "thank you we'll call you if you make it." Rachael left the recording room and asked "how'd I do?" Bev answered "like Rec said we'll call you if you make it." Rachael smiled and left the room. Dawn removed the clipboard from her face, burst out into laughter, and said "I'll just throw her audition form away." Bev started to laugh and said "Dawn your so mean!" Rec burst out into laughter and said "no she isn't she's speaking the truth." Dawn fought back the laughter long enough to say "I'll bring the next one in." Sam said "and hopefully this one will be better."

The hours went by and they heard horrible audition after horrible audition. Rec took off his jacket and said "this is ridiculous!" Sam said "I know its been 7 hours and we've only heard two good auditions." Bev said "yeah Cindy, and Lilly." Danny said "I thought Justice was pretty good." Dawn said "you just thought Justice was pretty cute.... She's not right for this band." Danny said "just send in the last one will you." Dawn said "right away lover boy..." Dawn left the room and Bev said "I feel like our whole day was wasted!" Sam said "well at least we found at least two girls to choose from." Rec said "yeah, but we just lost a whole day for two girls." Dawn walked in the room with another girl and said "guys this is Hannah." Hannah said "its a pleasure to meet you all." The Hintz said "its good to meet you too." Hannah asked "can I start singing?" Rec said "I like it! A girl who will rush to get things done. Your already starting to sound like a group member." Sam said "just go in the recording room and lets hear what you got." Hannah walked into the recording room and said "okay lets start singing Her Beating Heart." Bev played the song, and she sung. Everyone's mouth (accept for Hannah's) dropped from Hannah's amazing singing voice. After she was done she came out of the recording room, walked over to them, and asked "how'd I do?" Rec said "you did amazing!" Sam said "Hannah you can really sing." Danny said "yeah your certainly a star!" Hannah replied "well thank you so I'm guessing I'll be getting a muti-million dollar contract and I'll be the head of your band." Dawn said "yeah we'll certainly see there are two other girls that were amazing to. So you'll just have to wait like everyone else." Hannah said "well don't keep me waiting for to long or I might just leave like Gina did..." Hannah left the room and Dawn said "she is a definite no!" Sam said "its a shame because she had a great voice but I hate her attitude." Bev said "well we've heard everyone and there's nothing left for us to do." Dawn asked "what about Lilly or Cindy weren't they pretty good?" Bev answered "yeah but not good enough for this group." Sam said "This day was wasted on money hungry people." The group got up and left while Dawn said "why don't you sleep on it and we'll figure things out tomorrow?" Bev said "yeah good night Dawn." Dawn looked at the recording studio, saw cups, books, paper on the floor, and said "and of course they leave me with the mess." She began to pick up the papers off of the floor and threw them away. She picked up the trash and said "I really hope The Hintz get back on top." She threw more trash away and said "why can't raw talent come in here?" She sat down in one of the chairs, glanced over to see Rec's jacket sitting in another chair, and said "and of course Rec leaves his jacket here." She stared at the recording room, and said "I bet I could do a good job. Me one of The Hintz." She slowly stood up, ran over to the door way, peeked her head out, and walked back into the room while saying "well they are gone I guess its time for me to have some fun." She played an instrumental of a song she wrote and ran into the recording room. She began to sing "these people these places all seem the same. This world will pick you up and knock you down again. Its so easy to pass me as I'm begging you help oh why, oh why do they play this cruel game." As she was singing the boys came to the doorway and Sam said "go get your jacket Rec." Rec walked into the room, looked up to see Dawn singing, and heard her beautiful singing voice. Rec ran over to the boys pulling them into the room. They heard Dawn singing and Danny said "oh very funny, but turn off the autotune." Sam said "the auto-tune is off that's her real voice." They all stared at her as she sung "oh I could say oh God why me oh oh why can't they just spare me. Forsake a Faith cause of the cruel world but that's not the way I'm going to be, that's not the way I'm going to be." She looked to see the boys staring at her and she jumped. She ran out of the recording room and said "oh I thought you guys were gone." Hawk said "yeah Rec forgot his jacket so we came back but Dawn you never told us you could sing like that!" Dawn said "uh... me sing never that was auto-tune." Rec said "nice try but the auto-tune was off. Dawn your a gifted singer! We need someone like you in our band." Bev asked "Dawn will you be our lead singer?!" Dawn answered "I don't know um... I have to think about it." Bev said "please Dawn we need a talented person like you in our band." Dawn smiled, and said "alright guys I'll do it, but I don't want to come out just yet. We've got some music to work on."
