HER REAL SELF
Rexana woke up and it seemed the sun had risen high enough. The heat of the sun rays that got in from the gap of their roof that was made of nipa leaves started to give a tinge of burning feel to her skin. Her body clock seemed not to be working that day.
It seemed like it was already noon time and she had slept so much. But, more than that, there was something more that felt different for Rexana. She wondered if her parents were still asleep or if they weren't just home.
That day was her birthday and they all knew it. They made a plan to stay inside the house the whole day, for whatever reason, Rexana didn't know. However, she wondered why it seemed that her parents weren't there.
Not a sound from the kitchen that would tell her that her mother was cooking nor the sound of the wood that would make her know his father was chopping wood outside. All Rexana could hear was the sound of the waves from not so distant shore.
