Rebirth: The Skeleton Summon's Reawakening to Godhood

In the magical world of Terra, a long-dormant skeleton summon reawakens. Once bound to a demi-god hero of the Lux Kingdom, the skeleton fell inactive after his master's betrayal and death. Now, he rises in a world both familiar and strange, driven by his master's final command: to destroy those who betrayed him, even if it means annihilating the world. As he awakens, a cold voice echoes in his mind: [System activating]. This system, a remnant of his former master's power, bestows new abilities and unlocks ancient mysteries. Yet, the skeleton harbors a powerful identity from his past that contradicts his master's wishes. Caught between his master's vengeful legacy and his own true self, he must navigate a transformed world where ancient grudges and new alliances shape the fate of Terra, not to mention the impending 'exitium'. Prepare for a tale of magic, vengeance, and identity in a world on the brink of chaos.

"Huh, finally... Guess that should be all for today," Ossa thought to himself. He added, "Ah, it's dark. Bel, where is she?"

He got up but was hit by a wasp. As he engaged with the wasps, hours had passed, the sun setting, replaced by the starlit night sky.

The number of wasps had decreased, as most of them had retreated to their nest. They were diurnal creatures, sleeping by night and hunting by day.

About three of them had stayed behind, trying to destroy the intruder that had caused the fall of their brethren.

"Ah, they are annoying," Ossa thought to himself as he lay on the ground.

His intelligence had grown, but he was still as weak as he ever was.

He waited patiently for a couple of minutes unmoving. The wasps, thinking they had finally gotten rid of the creature, landed beside him, trying to pick him up with their mandibles.

Swiftly, Ossa plunged the shaft of the rake into the closest wasp, swiftly removing it and plunging it into the other.

The third and last creature noticed that its prey was still alive and tried to fly up and attack from above, as that was its area of expertise.

In a hurry to find Bel, Ossa jumped towards the wasp, which was now a few meters off the ground. With his fingers straightened, he plunged them into the mouth of the creature, claiming its life.

"What, I didn't get anything?!" Ossa exclaimed internally.

"... What's this system update?" He inquired.

[System has been dormant for centuries, most of its features are charging. After charging, it can actively aid the host]

"Ok, so when will this update be completed?" He asked the system internally as he got up, moving toward where he had last seen Bel.

[System update will be completed in about a year]

"A year, does that mean I will not improve until the year is up?" He inquired a bit skeptically.

"How can I fulfill Master's wish then?" He added.

[No need to worry, host. I will not be proactive but will operate based on what is needed in that situation.]

"Ah, I get it, like how you healed me and increased my intelligence as they were important in the current situation I find myself in," Ossa said, trying to confirm his thoughts.

[Yes]

"Got it, it ain't that bad then," Ossa smiled internally, as he could still get stronger, strong enough to one day house his master.

"Ah, where is she?" He inquired as he reached where he believed Bel was hiding.

"Ah, there she is," he noticed her sleeping comfortably, using one of the many shadow wolves around her as a pillow.

"System... wait, you are not master, only his will, so what should I call you?" He inquired, straying from the question he wanted to ask, now that he had the intelligence of a young adult and could distinguish between the system and his former master, Francesco.

[Francesco called me the Deus Mortis, system.]

"That's a mouthful, I will call you Mors," Ossa grumbled.

[Mors, I shall accept that name]

"And please, if you don't mind, can you change your voice? Hearing a man's voice in my head is a bit awkward, no offense to my master," he requested.

He now had the mind of a young adult, a teen who was picky for whatever reason.

[Ok, how about this, this is the voice I used when Master first created me. I had to change it because his voice would make it easier to work with his summon.]

The system said as its voice changed from the hoarse voice to the sweet but emotionless voice of a young woman.

"That's better," Ossa praised.

[... ]

The system remained silent as there was no reason to speak.

"She might catch a cold," Ossa thought to himself as he reached out his hand, trying to grab her.

"WOLF!!!" A wolf sleeping next to Bel barked at him, unaware he was the one.

Whine!!! Upon noticing who it had barked at, it whined, afraid it had barked at its alpha.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you... You are just doing your job," Ossa said internally, but the creature continued to whine, as unlike Bel, it could not understand Ossa and was frightened by the dark green flickering flames that it used to gaze at it.

"Mors, it seems it cannot understand me... How do I communicate with it?" Ossa asked the system.

[To communicate with them, you need the skill 'Universal language,' a skill in my arsenal.]

"How do I get that?"

[Kill three mystic creatures, any tier would do to unlock the first of three stages.]

"Mystic creatures, that's impossible with my current strength... Ah, I know. Now that it has come to this, convert any life force I acquire into strength," Ossa requested.

"Thank you."

"Let's get her out of here," Ossa thought to himself as he carried her in his arms.

A scary scene of a skeleton, its green eyes illuminating the night as it carries a motionless young girl.

It looked weird, but now that I think about it, if the date works, I will be carried by him just like that.

Well, we are gods, and looks do not matter to us.

After a couple of minutes of walking, he finally arrived, with numerous shadow wolves behind him.

As he entered the clearing where the rocky hill, the home of the alpha, stood, he saw a pitch-black wolf, the luminance of the stars disappearing as they touched its pelt.

Howl!!! The alpha howled as it showed Ossa its fangs, its intention unknown.
