Unreachable Prince (2/2)

"…Tch."

Looking at his bland tray of food, he remarked to himself.

"…I don't get it… what's so 'unreachable' about me? And what do they mean by 'prince'..?"

He was the only one at a table, far away from everybody in the cafeteria.

"…I… I can be approachable…"

Sluggishly eating, Kasra hoped that the name they gave him would end by tomorrow.

"Hey…"

Eyes wide, he turned his head right, slightly startling her.

[You're slipping Kasra, how did you not notice her..?]

After a brief second, he asked:

"Yes?"

Kasra sized her up, instinctually.

But he thought of her as nothing exceptional, if just a little… off-putting.

She had hair as black as nightfall and porcelain white skin.

Eyelids that drooped at the ends and were lined heavy eyeliner, adorned with a mischievous smile that bothered Kasra.

"What… do you want?"

Kasra waited with anticipation for her to say what she needed to.

"Why would you go against a Pandora? It's only going to bring you trouble in the future."

Sighing, he let go of his spoon, resting his chin in his palm.

Looking her in the eyes, he noted how she hasn't blinked at all.

"My parents warned me about how predatory Pandoras could be… I just needed to establish myself as… 'difficult to catch.' But I suppose that much backfired..."

Her smile was unwavering still.

Sitting down uncomfortably close to him now, she probed for more.

Turning her head to him, she mirrored Kasra's position, by also resting her chin in her palm.

"I remember what you declared in fromt of everyone this morning. It got me wondering… that you are… perhaps… scared of women..?"

Deeply knitting his eyebrows, the question caught him off guard.

Re-evaluating her, Kasra wondered:

[Who the hell is this girl… is she a first year too?]

After a moment of consideration, he gave his answer.

"Don't think for a second that you're some psychologist, that can look into my heart and tell me what my fears are… because you're not."

Displaying a brief flash of hostility to her, he had to concede that she was somewhat right in her guess.

"…And they're not just regular women, they're Pandoras."

Seemingly satisfied with his answer, she removed her hand from her chin and stood up.

About to walk away from him, and still smiling, she remarked:

"You know… you'll probably stay alone if you keep that way of thinking, Utsumi."

Confused and bothered by her, he looked away from her obsidian colored hair, and back at his food.

Muttering to no one but himself, he conceded.

"I know that much. I'm not stupid."

Finishing his food in silence, Kasra worried about how he would make it to the end of the trimester, at least.

In the hallway on his way back to class, he pulled out a small book his mother gave him before he left.

With it, he pretended to be lost in reading it, trying to act like he didn't hear everyone talking about him.
