My bones can feel it. It's time.
Our commanding officer entered, and we all assembled around him. He didn't ask us to but we still did so.
"Soldiers. The day has arrived. You don't have an important role, but I have a proposition for all of you. The army has shipped in the top guns for this operation, so you don't have to worry about having to do anything difficult. What you should worry about is surviving."
The man gave all of us a onceover.
"As of now, the artificial operation has been scrapped. There will never be any more of you created."
Murmurs broke out at his words.
He raised his hands to quiet us down.
"I understand your concerns, but to us, it doesn't matter. After the last battle, we can no longer see your usefulness. From now, we will be investing in machinery that will replace all of you. Now then, what happens to the rest of you?"
