Descent of Gods

The tail around the two tightened and finally, two shrill screams resounded from both Asura and Xia as multiple bones broke in their bodies. How could such young children bear such force with their frail bodies?

Asura was full of anger, his eyes unyielding and overflowing with wrath as he stared at the serpent. He could care less about what happened to him, but the fact that pained him the most was that this damned snake didn't even spare Xia. In fact, she surely suffered even worse than him because she was a girl. Males have thicker bones but females are naturally frail. Although that can change with cultivation and body tempering, that's only when one starts cultivating and absorbing worldly energy. Right now, the two of them were nothing more than babies in the eyes of this world.

A sound of grinding teeth came from Asura as he tried his best not to struggle. Xia was already groaning in pain, if he struggled he would only make her pain even worse, considering they were pressed against each other.

Looking at the serpent's mocking eyes, Asura felt something within him explode, as if a chained demon was finally set free, wanting to rampage through the world and show its might. Wanting to release its accumulated wrath and anguish. It was begging to be set free all this time and finally, the time came. Asura stopped breathing altogether and felt his consciousness fade away, his heart stopped beating and the dull sound of crushed bones and squished tissue instantly vanished. The mocking expression in serpent's eyes increased several points.

What Asura didn't understand as he fought against himself to remain conscious was why would this damn snake leave them alive and not directly eat them. He couldn't see through it but it was way too late to think about it any further. He remembered his previous words: "I wonder if this world is as dangerous as it's beautiful?". He found the answer, it seems.

Asura: 'Will I just fall unconscious like this? Xia finally left that small space, I can't let her spend another eternity waiting to reincarnate... I can't! I must not fail!! I reject this destiny!!!"

He gritted his teeth so hard that he even though some of them broke and focused on that feeling from before. That feeling of something breaking free within him was still lingering within his mind. He had to grasp it! He desperately tried to trace it back and finally succeeded after what appeared to him as eternity, even though in reality it only took a single instant.

Asura: "AAAAAAHHH!!! A MERE SNAKE WANTS TO CONSUME OUR FATE?! I DO NOT ALLOW IT!!!"

He screamed with all his might as green vertical eye appeared on his forehead, illuminating Xia who was on the other side. When the light fell, her forehead suddenly shone with eerie purple as a splitting image of the green vertical eye appeared on her forehead, only hers being purple like her eyes. The two colors matched the colors of their eyes.

The serpent seemed to understand the words in Asura's scream and the two vertical eyes gave it a fright that it never felt before in its long and boring life. Suddenly, its intentions changed. Originally, it wanted to keep these two captive until they reached a certain level in cultivation and then consume them to break through, but now being called a mere snake made it angry, and those two eyes made it feel fear so it decided to get rid of these two puny humans. An oppressive energy appeared in the middle of its forehead, where a purple starry light appeared in a form of a shiny crystal. The energy from the crystal flared up and spread through its body, almost instantly reaching the two children grasped in its tail. It no longer wanted to keep these two alive, only to reduce them to ashes with everything it had.

There is a human saying that goes: "One should always keep their head clear, no matter the circumstances. Even if the world was disintegrating, even if your closest ones were dying, your head always must remain clear, for only a clear-minded ones can see the truth beyond the mist."

The serpent had done just what it shouldn't have. As Xia previously said, Soul Spirits awoke when someone assisted by injecting Spirit Energy until it overflowed. That's precisely what this serpent had done!

If it knew of this saying, it would surely understand its meaning after witnessing the consequences of its actions that took place immediately after.

As soon as Spirit Energy pierced into Asura's and Xia's bodies and reached their hearts, the entire world, along with the Spirit Star and its neighboring planets, fell silent and time stopped. Neither they, nor the purple serpent were able to move a bit. In fact, nobody in the nearby universe was able to, despite their strength.

The only thing that could still move were clouds.

The myriad colorful clouds began surging in the sky and crashing into each other, gathering above the lake. As one cloud passed through the other, a colorful flash of lightning would appear. The serpent's eyes lost all previous arrogance, only terror remained.

It didn't even pay any attention to the two half-dead children who were unconscious, but even so their bodies shone with divine brilliance of the same type as the flames from the twin shooting stars. Even if it wanted to, it couldn't move anymore. After all, the time was frozen. It seemed to be scared for its life as it watched ten different colors of lightning form in the clouds. The sky that was almost crystal clear just a moment ago was now full of shiny colorful mist, illuminated by flashes of thunder. It knew this was death. Its eyes betrayed those feelings. Why did it have to die because of two mere children? Why were heavens so jealous of it that it couldn't even properly ascend?

And it was so close to ascending... it reached somewhere around the peak 99th level if put in human's cultivation system. Another year and it could ascend! It could become a dragon-bloodline beast.

At the next moment, the clouds completely disappeared and only ten-colored thunder remained. But to the serpent's surprise, the thunder started elevating towards the Spirit Star instead. It saw a faint ray of hope! If this thunder didn't target it, then it still had the chance to ascend.

*ROAR~----!!!*

*SCREEEE~----!!!*

Six deafening roars assaulted the world, shaking the universe! Above Spirit Star, six planet-sized forms tore open the space with their wings and let out prideful roars. They were announcing their arrival to the entire world! This is the pride of Gods.

Serpent felt as if its soul would scatter any moment because of the suppression from the six figures.

Three Dragons and Three Phoenixes circled around one another, representing Yin and Yang, as they performed Heavenly Dance for each and every living being to see.

Suddenly, all the accumulated lightning from before turned into ten-colored coiling dragon and pierced through the space, flying off towards the six figures dancing above the Spirit Star.

All of the surrounding smaller planets mirrored this event. Hundred streaks of ten-colored thunder merged into one and rushed towards the six forms with all their might.

The entire world was trying to extinguish their existence, feeling the threat of those six figures. The six were any world's greatest threats! After all, those things can only evolve by devouring worlds.

Alas, how could mortals understand the greatness of Gods? When the thunder fell on the six dancing figures, it instantly branched out through their illusory forms, forming vein-like markings within. Feeling the influx of such pure and rich energy, Three Dragons and Three Phoenixes let out a world-shaking roar once again and turned into six streaks of light, piercing through the void and vanishing somewhere.

An instant later, three miniaturized rays of light appeared above Asura and three above Xia, illuminating everything in the area of several kilometers in ten colors. The serpent exploded into pieces from the oppressive might the instant those rays appeared, only the crystal from its forehead remained suspended in the air. Not even its soul survived.

Three Dragons shot into Asura's body. Green Dragon falling on his forehead, White Dragon with Ten-Colored patterns on his heart and Starry Black Dragon with different-colored stars falling in the center of his stomach and becoming a black sphere with shiny stars within. It resembled a spherical black hole full of various stars.

A similar situation occurred with Xia, but her three Spirits were Phoenix-shaped. First streak was a Purple Phoenix and it merged with the vertical eye on her forehead. Second streak appeared as a Sacred White Phoenix that set her heart ablaze and the last one was Cursed Black Phoenix that fell inside her stomach, forming a core basked in black flames that wanted to burn through the void itself.

Purple and Green vertical eyes lit up with flames that split the crystal from the serpent into two, and quickly carried it back to their owners. As if not satisfied, the flames shot out once again, started spiraling around one another like the Twin Stars and fell into the crystal clear lake. The lake that regained its calm only for a moment turned into a massive vortex that split into two and furiously compressed until only two transparent crystals were left. The flames lit up around crystals and brought them back as well.

Only after all of this happened did the duo's auras undergo a drastic change and two remnant lightning strikes fell on them from the skies. But alas, regardless of how furious the Heavens were, those two thunderbolts were devoured by the three Soul Spirits in Asura's and Xia's bodies and they vanished forever as world finally regained its calmness and time started flowing again.

Asura and Xia lay unconscious on the ground, near a massive crater where transparent lake was a moment ago. But now, only a hole remained, without a single drop of water. As a final parting gift, the two flames shot out again and fell on the flowers. The flames then spread out rapidly until they they became a raging inferno, burning everything in their path. After who knows how long did the green and purple flames stop and return, hovering above Asura and Xia.

A Rainbow-Colored radiance illuminated the scorched ground as two breathtakingly beautiful sets of clothes appeared above the two. The flames shot back inside their foreheads as clothes turned into a stream of energy and wrapped around them. And finally, even the surroundings became peaceful, but everything within a ten-kilometer radius was burned to the ground. Not a single grass was spared. This place practically became a desert overnight.

Only then did the silence become loud enough to wake everyone up from this stunning dream.
