Sullivan woke up to the bright lights of the mid day sun beaming onto his face. He groaned as he forced himself to his feet, groggily rubbing his eyes. He waited for a moment as he body began to wake up a little bit, he grabbed his bow and walked to the camp area. He grabbed a bag and sat down by the campfire. He sat for almost an hour finishing his string. Once he finished hle slid the string down the top of the bow and hooked it to the bottom end, then put the bow in between his legs and bent it far enough so he could slide the string back up the top side. He cautiously removed the bow form in between his legs and looked the bow up and down. It was by no means a masterpiece, but for his lack of proper materials, it was fairly well done to his standards. the bow was about shoulder height and was strong, he pulled it back to full draw a couple times to make sure it would hold.
"Pulling a bow requires more strength than i imagined, i'll have to properly train." Sullivan mumbled to himself and he carefully let the bow bend back into shape without releasing the string.
"Now all i need to do is get some arrows!" He said holding his bow up to the sky.
"Already done. I saw how hard you'd been working on the bow, so i decided to make some arrows for you." Seliana said as she walked out of the woods carrying two turkeys. They had both been plucked clean.
"I'm curious, how exactly did you manage to kill those birds?" Sullivan asked, an eyebrow raised at the sight.
"I used a rock, and this genius invention called an arm." Seliana replied mockingly.
"Funny, but those are just turkeys, not arrows." Sullivan pointed out. Seliana put the turkeys down by the campfire. She reached into her pack and pulled out three arrows.
" They're made of some young and straight sticks I found, still green but its the best we have for now. Turkey feathers of course, and the tips of some old daggers I had. It was hard to mold the blades enough to where i could burn them into the wood, but now they should be good to go." She said proudly as she handed them over.
"Thanks, this'll be useful to get some actual meat, though it seems you've been able to do that this whole time judging by the turkeys. Still I've been thinking, Isn't it about time we try to find a village. You need to get back home, its to dangerous for you out here being a nobles daughter and all. Bandits would stop at nothing to get a good ransom for you." Sullivan said as he sat down and looked over the arrows, holding them close to his eye to make sure they were straight, which the mostly were.
"As much as i hate to go back i have to agree, these bandits really want some money and i cant put my family through that." Seliana said sitting down beside him.
"Alright then, that settles it, tommorow we pack up and set out." Sullivan said standing up and putting all but one arrow inside of his bag.
"Now i'm gonna go try to find me some game." Sullivan said walking off into the forest. He crouched low trying to make as little noise as possible. A he walked he scanned the area until he finally saw something twitch, then hop. A rabbit! Sullivan walked close and it looked up at him. It sprinted away and hunkered down in some bushes. As Sullivan walked up to the bushes, the rabbit refused to move. So he knocked one of his arrows and pulled back the string, pull the string right to his ear he took aim at the rabbit and loosed the arrow. Time seemed to stop for a moment as he could easily observe how the arrow bent like a snake wriggling through the air plunking perfectly into the head of the rabbit that refused to move.
"What a weird experience, but either way, we've got some more good meat to eat now as he grabbed the rabbit by the ears. Sullivan removed his arrow and set off back to camp.
Sullivan skinned and gutted the rabbit and Seliana cooked it along with one of the turkeys. They ate quietly that night just listening to the sound of the forest, and then packed up for sleep as they'd have a long day tomorrow.
