Chapter 21 : The Return of the Princess

“Alright Livy,” my father came to my bedroom door and tried not to look at the empty closet or the bare shelves and tabletop. “We have the last of your things packed in a moving van. Your suitcases are in the trunk of Rex’s car.”

“Thank you, Daddy,” I said as I took one last look around. “Do you think I will be able to come back for a visit?”

“You will always be welcome, but I think any visits would best be held at the palace, for your own safety.”

“I suppose you’re right,” I agreed. I all of a sudden didn’t want to leave. I found it was hard to make one foot move in front of the other and truly say goodbye to my life as an adopted but well-loved daughter.

My eyes fell to the window and I looked to see the crowd of people and dozens of news vans waiting on the street. A small tremor of fear flashed through me. I remembered what had happened right after I was among the crowds wanting to see the lost princess of Avealon.
