10 Gotten a Job

He Lixue located the apartment that she had rented. She used the keys to open the door, and as she entered, she was stunned by how luxurious the flat was.

Also, the air carried with it the scent of cleaning produce; she could guess that the place had been cleaned prior to her renting it. Clearly, everything had been well planned by Lu Nanfeng.

But why was he so kind to her? She had no memories, neither in her current nor previous life, about having met him before.

She could not understand it, but she was not going to overthink about it. He was not likely to have ulterior motives. The times she had met him, he had not looked like he had any ulterior motives.

Maybe he was just a good Samaritan? And he had picked her as a target for charity. Who knew, that made the most sense.

He Lixue slumped into the couch the moment she got inside. She fished out the smartphone from the pocket and sent out a text message to Lu Nanfeng.

"You are so sweet. I really like the flat; you are my hero! If you need any help in the future, just tell this young admirer. Muah!"

Lu Nanfeng was seated in the middle of a meeting with the board of directors when he got a message. The smartphone that beeped was not the working phone. Instead, it was his private one.

He took it out, completely ignoring that it was in the middle of a meeting. After reading it, a smile spread on his face.

The many people who were observing were shocked, silly. How could he possibly be smiling so sweetly?! He was known as a demon, the devil that tormented them all, but now he was smiling so sweetly. And he was actually responding to the message?!

"What does 'muah' mean?" he wrote curiously, and when He Lixue got the text, she could not help but laugh out loud.

"It's a kiss, silly! I am your ardent admirer; I ought to dedicate my first kiss to you!"

Lu Nanfeng felt warm in his heart as he read the message, but this time he just replied, "I am in a meeting, I will give you a call tonight."

"Work hard!" was He Lixue's answer, and then Lu Nanfeng put the phone away, his smile vanished from his lips, and his eyes lost their tenderness and turned cold and callous again.

The directors were shivering in fear. How could he change his expression so easily!

He Lixue laid down on the couch for some time to relax, after which she found her laptop. Plugging it into the power socket, she began working.

Suddenly she saw a task made by Fenghuang Group, and she was intrigued. Fenghuang group had sent out a notice on the internet, saying that they were looking for a computer genius to check their newest system and help them improve it.

One had to search for technical vulnerabilities. Although it was not hacking as such, it required hacking skills, and since it was a paid job, it was perfect for He Lixue.

She quickly contacted the person in charge and was given some simple systems that she needed to crack, to prove her ability. When she was done cracking them, she would be rated and told if she was picked.

The person in charge personally observed her cracking the systems as easily as if she was strolling down the street, and he was intrigued. Even he would not be able to solve them that fast.

"Hang on!" he wrote on the computer, and He Lixue waited patiently while the man in charge barged into the meeting of the board of directors.

All of them looked at him in annoyance, but when he saw Lu Nanfeng, he quickly went to his side and whispered in his ear.

"I found a genius. I don't know anything about the person, but he or she offered her services, and even I am no match for that person. The person is currently online and waiting to see if we will hire him or her."

Lu Nanfeng considered for a moment before nodding his head. "Give the person a job as a Data Protection Specialist and make him or her begin working in a few days."

The man nodded his head and left the meeting room again; he was in a brilliant mood.

"We would like to hear some information about you," the man wrote in the chat he had opened with He Lixue. "First of all, age, gender, and location. We want to offer you a job, but first, we need to know if you are of the legal age and that you are the right location."

"I am a woman, I am twenty-two, and I live in the Capital." He Lixue answered, honestly. She was not planning on doing anything illegal now. She had changed her life, so she had nothing to hide anymore.

Even if Lu Nanfeng found out, then so be it. She had not tricked him, as he had never asked about her ability to crack systems.

"Okay, then Miss, I am wondering if you can come to the office and sign the documents for hiring. There is also a non-disclosure agreement and a normal working contract."

"I can."

"Then come to the Fenghuang Group Main Office tomorrow. We will sign the contract then."

"Sure."

"What is your name?"

"He Lixue."
