First Flight (3)

Perseus POV

"Shawn, this is a test, that angel is a test," I pointed at the angel as we got out of the plane's emergency exit and got on the ground "We gotta do something."

"Run away like a coward or face it like a dumbass." he immediately replied "The first has a higher chance of expulsion, the second will get us ridiculed and have a slight chance of expulsion because the academy won't desire people who can't differentiate bravery and stupidity."

"Right. You can actually be smart sometimes."

"Well, your call." Shawn said as he pushed me as a beam of yellow light then flew past us "You can actually fight against them."

We then ducked for cover as the angel charged at us again, the plane got broken in half by the beam earlier, and I can see that the other students are running away in fear while screaming for help. I can see several stayed behind helping the flight crew who are still stuck on the plane.

Well, if this is a test, this angel shouldn't be as strong as a regular one, it should be beatable somehow, but it's going to be a bit hard to...well, most of us aren't allowed to really practice magic unless we have a proper learner's permit, which is only given out once you get your GED or your diploma.

And what I mean by that is...well, most of the students here won't know how to harness the elements in a fight, and if they do know, well, they are either from a super rich family who knows how to get that permit for those kids through irregular and barely legal methods or they've committed an illegal act.

The UPF doesn't want children abusing their power early and so forbade it, those who go against it are jailed, and regular weapons don't really work on these angels, so the only way to fight against them are with magic. And when Shawn says that I know how to fight...let's hope there are no listening devices nearby, because I can't go to jail before I complete my mission.

"I got an idea."

Luckily both of us ran with our bags intact, and hopefully, our luggage survived that attack. We then ran to the luggage truck for cover as I got the bag out and open it to search for our only way of fighting back.

This angel isn't the real deal, probably got some automaton controlled by a sorcerer far away to test the new wizards and witches, so it won't chase those who ran, but if this was a real one, those who ran would have died already, so they'll already have their grades deducted.

Shawn then realized what I was trying to search for and got his bag to search for the same thing.

"Got it."

In my hands is a stack of paper talismans, hard papers which are about 15cm (5.9 inches) in length and 5cm (approximately 2 inches) in width. We are required to buy a bunch of it before coming here, and even though they're usually banned from planes unless you're some high-ranked wizard, the airlines that come in and out of TM Island allow them.

"We just inject mana into them and throw em, right?!" Shawn shouted over a loud explosion and put them into his talisman holder in his belt

"Yeah, but we need to round up the other kids first," I then took a glance out and I can see that the other students are being cornered by the angel with the flight crew.

I then waved my talisman holder to them and furiously pointed at it until someone got the message, but not all of them had their bags or talisman with them, but those that did, shared them, so that's good.

I then put a few of them in between my fingers and summon all the mana I can and the black writing on the paper started to have a light blueish glow.

Shawn POV

I held one and tried using my mana to inject it into the talisman, but my paper then turned into shreds.

"You put too much mana, your wind attribute will cut it if you put too much, it's gotta be the right amount." Perseus said as he then got out of our hiding spot and threw 3 of them into the air

The paper then each turned into these bullets made of light the size of a fist and they shot at the angel leaving a trail of light behind, it looked like he just shoot some sort of blue laser beam. 2 of them hit the clothing part in between the armor plates of the angel.

"I know, but this is my first time, just be patient." I retorted

It took me until my 4th try to just summon one spell, I don't know what I did, but there was this wind sickle that flew and chipped the wings a bit.

"Oh my god, that was so cool."

"Run!" Perseus shouted as the angel now came in our direction

The other students aren't really helping as they're making the same mistake as me, they got out a spell every now and then, but it's a bit too late as the angel is now fixated on us.

"Bro, it's now a good time for you to show your cool moves a bit."

"And go to jail? No thanks." he replied as we dropped our bags and got out of the way as the angel cleaved the truck in half

The angel flew at me but a quick beam of light hit him on the side of his head as he got close, the angel crashed against the ground as it didn't expect the sudden attack with such accurate precision. I ran to Perseus' side and got out 2 of my talisman to summon the basic wind spell, but only one succeeded and managed to hit the angel's wing and cut one of them.

"The cut wing isn't dispersing into light particles, this angel IS a test." Perseus confirmed

But before we can get happy, the angel punched the ground and got up. It's mad now, and the spot where it punched earlier got a crackling cobweb effect.

"Say, is passing this test really worth it?" I asked

"Well, I'm just hoping we'll like get scouted by the student council or some cool club where the adviser is a super hot teacher who's still single for some reason even though she's like the best girl in the series." he answered

"Which one are you aiming for? The single teacher or the student council?"

"Why not both?"
