I watched Evos and Cal train as they both fought each other, Evos using his daggers and Cal lashing out with a flurry of kicks. Metal Greaves covered her shins s that protected Cal from bladed attacks.

When Cal and I were fighting, she landed a kick on my ribs and was able to break two of my ribs. It confused me so much that I had to look at what had changed, and upon further examination, I found the answer.

Cal usually practiced her kicks against a padded stone pillar. It caused her shin bones to micro-fracture and healed over time, reinforcing the bone. And the changes I made to her bone structure increased the effect tenfold.

After some quick testing, Cal and I found out her attacks created tiny air pockets when she hit a target. It was the same effect that the Mantis Shrimp created with their punches. "I wonder what would happen if she learned Haki."

I didn't want to think of the terrifying force behind such an attack, though the experience got me thinking about other powers in the animal kingdom. Floating behind the boat on a raft, I was taking down notes. Gibby was swimming alongside me, I hadn't been paying my fish enough attention, and I needed a willing subject for my experiments.

Taking out a syringe full of a bright green liquid, I injected the serum into a slab of meat before tossing the bait into the water. Gibby jumped, swallowing the food in one snap of his massive jaws.

"Injection version #323, the base nucleotide code AGUUUG." I jotted down the notes methodically and was about to add more detail when the wireless monitor connected to Gibby started to spike, "Finally, Progress!"

Sticking my head underwater, I placed my head against Gibby's hide and could feel his skin heating up. Observing at a molecular level, I watched as his cells started to divide and duplicate in rapid succession.

Though most were unstable with defects in the genetic code and born without specific organelles, Thane spotted five cell types that mutated and survived, Gibby started to grow, and his dark black hide gained bright red streaks that looked like lightning.

But I realized that Gibby was still growing at an alarming rate, and the water around Gibby started to boil from the heat his transformation was giving off. "Oh, that's not good." Jumping off the raft, I flew above on a pair of wings, determined to see out the complete transformation.

Gibby started to elongate, becoming more streamlined, then down his spine, a large sail fin flared up the webbing between the pin bones a bright red. The Chimera roared, and the final change began; Gibby's front fins grew and split apart, becoming large claws while his back fins stretched, becoming solid and powerful legs with webbing.

And then, from his shoulder blades, a pair of black wings emerged, "Oh, my god! It's Godzilla!" I looked at my monster. Even though most of Gibby's body was underneath the water, he was still an imposing figure.

The dragon roared, and my eardrums rattled from the piercing sound. The beast then sank into the ocean until only his eyes were above the water. Floating down to land on my new creation, I placed my hand against his now scaly hide.

Gibby hissed, recognizing my touch, "You certainly never disappoint. How do you feel in your new skin." Like a dog, Gibby shook, displaying his emotions, "Soren, what the hell happened."

I looked up. Evos and Cal were flying over on a cloud, their eyes wide in shock, "Just running a few experiments, nothing to worry about." Cal jumped down, landing next to me, "I'm just glad you didn't do this next to the ship. We may have capsized."

Evos floated on his cloud and smiled, "You figured it out, but where's the plant?" I reached into my pocket, "There is no plant; I just synthesized an oil with a uranium base and a protein safety net to trigger cell death when any undesired mutations happen. Though I didn't expect the effect to be so explosive."

Evos held out his hand, and I tossed the vial to him, "Be careful with that, it's the last batch, and I don't want to make it again from scratch." Evos nodded before he started to examine the vial holding it up to the light, "Is that safe to be holding, isn't Uranium radioactive?"

"Well yes, but that vial is lined with lead so nothing is escaping, besides it was the only way I could think of to provide enough energy to the subject while causing DNA mutations." I rubbed the back of my head remembering the math I had to do to work out the energy requirement.

"It's a genius solution Soren, 1 gram of this stuff has twenty billion Calories. Though I have to ask how did you get the uranium?" I smiled at my young apprentice, "I had Gibby dive down into the ocean and look for a glowing green rocks."

Cal blinked, "That worked!" Chuckling I nodded, "I think this was a battlefield once, there were also a lot of cannon balls and wrecked ships. But whatever happed it was violent and explosive. haven't you noticed that no sea-kings have attacked us."

"Now that you mention you're right. It has been kind of nice to not be on guard constantly. I wish there was some sort of invention that could replicate the effect." I nodded but on the inside I made a mental note to try and buy some seastone.

After running a few diagnostics on Gibby just to make sure there weren't any hidden injuries I was left with more questions. Most of his organs had mutated or change and I would have to document them later.

When we arrived back on the ship I felt a little guilt as Leana had to cook again. Even though she said she didn't mind cooking but as a chef I took personal offense.
