Evie Harrison is a top student in her senior year of college. She is the heir of a wealthy family, studying law at Harvard in order to take over her father's company. Alexander Lockwood is the youngest and most successful lawyer in New York. He is what most people would call arrogant and he'd do anything to be on top. So he makes a deal with his rival company. In order to become the most prestigious lawyer on the East Coast, he has to marry his rival's daughter, Evie Harrison. But the real question is whether or not Evie is going to oblige at her father's request?

Cold feet

"Wake up sleeping beauty!" I heard a chorus of voices and I slowly opened my eyes and saw my mother and all my friends gathered around my bed. Before I could say something else, they said in unison, "YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED!" and I closed my ears.

Yesterday we had a lot of fun and we drank a lot, so naturally, now I have a major hangover and the yelling is not helping a lot.

"Would you do me a favor and shut the hell up? I just woke up..." I responded and in response, Lora threw them all out of the room and turned to me.

"I'm actually getting married today", I mumbled, but it came out more like a whisper.

"Yeah..." she said and walked over to me to give me a hug.
