Chapter 16

After the twins returned to Rusvil they once again became the centre of attention. Handing in the goblin ears they had collected, netted them a gold coin. However money was no longer a problem for Isla and Sila after they had counted all the treasure taken from the dwarven ruins and the portion left from the goblin den.

They wouldn't have had so much attention, because a strong and stable team would be able to deal with most goblin dens, but Sia who had returned to Rusvil, honestly recounted her experience to the guild, which showed how serious the situation actually was.

The leaders of the Rusvil branch of the adventurers guild were in uproar of such a discrepancy in task allocation. It has to be said that Sia had some connections with the guild management, for it to become such an important matter.

The guild began investigating the evaluators and their previous completed tasks. Sending out powerful teams to check currently opened quests, and searching through the records to see how many teams had reported the task as being different from what was estimated.

This event didn't pose much problem for the twins. In fact, after the task was re-evaluated, it went from the lowest copper rank straight up two ranks. Naturally Isla and Sila couldn't just reach the gold rank immediately after one quest. It must be said the highest level teams in Rusvil belong to the gold rank. Heading towards the capital, the ranks are obviously higher. The highest can only be found in the capital itself. The unspoken rule is that those top level adventurers act as an additional deterrent to any force that wants to attack the Emperor.

The two couldn't be promoted to the Gold rank, but they were definitely more than enough to reach the silver rank. After receiving their new identity plates, Isla and Sila focused on taking on the more difficult tasks trying to increase their combat ability. Although they were promoted because of the last task. The two didn't really feel like they were in any danger. The talismans had played an integral part of the dens destruction, which left them feeling a little unsatisfied.

Isla and Sila spent the next few months learning the habits and abilities of magical beasts on the outer layer of Rind forest. After progressing from horned rabbits, they moved onto more dangerous beasts, which has unfortunately led to their current situation.

In front of the twins at the moment are the corpses of a few wind wolves. After dealing with the wind magician, Isla and Sila have become more proficient in their training against beings with magical abilities. The wind wolves are avid hunters endowed with greater speed, as well as long ranged attacking methods. When the twins first came across them, although they had been used to killing magic beasts, but wolves are pack hunters, and with their extreme speed and wind ability, naturally the two were injured after the fights.

In fact the two have been more or less injured ever since they left the goblins den. They were both aware that the only way to advance themselves was to put themselves in extremely dangerous situations. So over the months they've been training, bruises and scars have slowly started to appear on their bodies.

The two help each other take care of the injuries, just as they did back in Olbrand. The tacit understanding of the two when it comes to the intensity of their training may have finally bitten them in the butt.

Wind wolves are silver rank creatures alone. In a pack, they are determined by the size and capability of the packs leader, but Isla and Sila after getting used to their tactics could make quick work of the packs, which may have once again made them a little careless.

So when they noticed that the wind wolves seemed to be leading them somewhere, they thought it was just towards the leader of their pack, which had yet to be seen. The two had killed many pack leaders before, so they weren't in too much of a hurry to end the hunt. It wasn't until they were brought to a cave, feeling the strong breath inside that they came to their senses.

But it was too late! One of the wind wolves sent out the strongest blade of wind it could muster into the cave before the twins had time to kill it.

ROAR!

The deafening roar echoed out from the cave. The two had no time to escape before they saw what emerged from the depths of the cave. A gigantic bear appeared from the darkness. It's body taking up the entire space of the cave, growing larger than the dwarven giant they had seen.

The eyes of the twins widened in horror. They knew what this beast was. It was an earth bear, a very dangerous gold ranked monster.

The earth bears usually roam deeper into the forests. Gold ranked beasts shouldn't have been this close to the outskirts of the forest. The reason why Isla and Sila showed such horrified expressions is simply because an earth bear is something they didn't yet dare to face.

Born with an extremely strong talent for earth, they didn't outwardly manipulate it like the wind wolves, but strengthened themselves instead. Using the sustenance of the earth to vastly strengthen their own already powerful bodies. Their enormous strength and incredibly tough bodies make them a very difficult threat.

The worst part is that even with their enormous frame, they aren't slow. Not nearly as fast as the wind wolves, but they are deceptively fast for their size. Usually they remain in slumber until they become hungry and awaken in search of food, but if they are artificially awakened, they will become incredibly violent.

Now looking at the earth bear staring at them viciously, the hair on the right side of its face slightly shaved, they remembered the wind blade the wolf had just sent in.

"That wind wolf used so much of its strength and didn't even draw blood. Are you fucking joking?! " Sila cursed vehemently.

"It wouldn't be a gold ranked monster if it was taken down so easily" Isla said trying to comfort her sister. Although she too wanted to swear at the moment.
