Footprints

Strange things usually happen uncommonly. Once can be a fling, the second a coincidence, the third...not so much. But for all of it to happen to a group of kids? That is very suspicious indeed. (I am an amateur writer and English is my second language. So, I am very sorry if you encounter any errors in my novel...Happy reading)

Chapter 3

(Lotus' POV)

There was a buzzing and annoying noise inside the kitchen signaling an oven being overheated and used. The fire alarm comes on when it detected smoke reaching the ceiling. A woman with blonde hair and blue eyes comes in hurriedly and frantically looking for a cloth, when she saw one, she takes it and tries to extinguish the fire by making the cloth wet, placing it over her head and smashing it on the fire. But even with her efforts, the fire didn't disappear. Then another person comes in, this time, a man. He was built, clearly showing his healthy lifestyle and workout, with blonde hair and brown eyes in a suit. He comes in hurriedly while carrying a fire extinguisher.

He then used it to extinguish the fire. The woman looks on as the fire completely disappeared. The oven is covered in white seemingly looking like it is completely frozen and covered in snow.

"Who the heck puts a meal covered in aluminum foil?" The man asks incredulously.

"Well, I didn't" The woman answers back.

"Lotus" They both said knowingly at the same time.

The mother then looks upstairs and then calls out Lotus. "Lotus, could you please come down here?!" She shouts.

There was a series of sound coming from the stairs, as feet continues to heavily tap on each step. A young girl comes in view as she stops in the middle and looks at them in the eye.

"What?" I ask, confused.

"Did you put aluminum foil inside the oven?"

"No?" I tell them questioningly.

They look at her dead eye. The woman, crossing her arms together and the man putting his other hand on his head, brushing his hair.

"Not exactly a good start of the year starfish" He tells her in exasperation.

"Well, I kinda forgot, didn't I? thin man?" I retorts back. "And I'm not a starfish, I'm a beautiful flower surrounded by other beautiful flowers leisurely enjoying life in a pretty and big pond looked at by jealous people, wishing they were me." I arrogantly say.

"Wow, what a bitch" The man says annoyingly.

"Language, that there is your younger sister" The woman reprimands the man. "Besides, what are you wearing Lotus?" She asks me.

"My outfit for school" I raise my arms to let them look more. I am wearing a pink skirt that is 3 inches before my knee and a pink tight long sleeve top showing my bellybutton which is pierced with a white diamond, which isn't exactly real and a pink stiletto. "Do I look great?" I ask them.

"No and I gotta agree with your brother - dear lord may this be the first time - that you look like a bitch" My mom says making my jaw dropped almost on the floor. My brother sporting the same reaction.

My brother laughs while placing his hand fisted in front of his mouth, trying desperately to stop his laugh. I scoff while eyeing him heatedly.

"Now, get back to your room and change your outfit. Because I ain't letting you out of this house looking like a slut waiting for a man to stop his car and ask for your service." My mom tells me with authority in her voice.

"But mom..." I dragged out.

"Don't make me dress you myself, because you know I'll dress you like a nun if I have to, right?" My mom asks me and I hesitantly answered in silence. Mom always took it as a yes. But this time, I knew there's no going back. So, I talked.

"Fine." I said heavily. I dragged my heavy body to my room and changed my clothes. It took 5 outfits before I was allowed to get out of the house.
