Chapter 2

I didn't want to talk about my day but Norma kept pestering me so I had to talk "Why don't you report them?"

"I'll only make it worse"

"Do you like what they do to you?"

"Of course not"

"Then stand up to them, do something!"

"I can't"

"Ugh! Sometimes I wish we could switch places just so I'll beat them up. No one should treat you like that, you don't deserve it. It's not fair".

"Life isn't" she hugged me and said "don't worry, if I run into one of them, I'll make sure I leave a mark with my fist" Naomi giggled.

"You can't even kill a spider, Norma"

"I know but…"

"But what? Even you get weak in the knees whenever you see Scott"

"Who is Scott" I asked.

"Only the most handsome and perfect guy in the whole world" Her eyes had a dreamy look.

"That Norma wants to get married to" Chipped in Naomi.

"Hey" Norma hit her with a pillow. Scott's dad owns a bakery not too far from here. "Oh really? Tell me more" Norma went on and on about Scott until Gertrude came in and said I needed to do my assignments before they left. The next day began with a worse than the last. I planned to give Sean a love letter but it got ruined all thanks to somebody. I got to school early because I wanted to put it in his locker.

"Hey geek" Kate pushed me. I continued walking "Dumbass, I was taking to you" she pushed me harder and I almost fell. My books fell and the letter slipped out. I scrambled to get it but when I touched it, someone pressed a heavy boot on my fingers. I looked up and saw Riley.

"You're just so clumsy" she twisted her foot on my fingers. "Please stop" people were watching. She raised her foot and it landed on my chin, making me hit a locker. She picked up the letter. "Interesting" I quickly stood up to get it from her but she pushed me roughly to Kate who hit me against a locker. My glasses fell, Riley read the letter and laughed. Kate snatched it from her and started reading it out loud. I smelt Sean's cologne and thought he would save me but I was wrong. When Kate was halfway through, everyone was laughing and I couldn't do anything. Even though my vision was blurry, I could see Sean laughing along. "What's going on here?" Everyone kept quiet. Someone picked me up and also smelt familiar. The person picked up my glasses and helped me put them back on. Then I saw it was Bruce, Sean's elder brother, who was a senior.

"Are you okay?" I could only nod. My hair was total mess and I knew I looked horrible. "What are you waiting for?" everyone left us alone.

"Thank you" my voice cracked.

"Hey, there's no need to cry" He was the only person hat ever stood up for me. Sean laughed at me. I started sobbing and I hurriedly bent down to pick my books but they kept falling because my glasses were stained and cracked and I was also crying so I couldn't see well. I could take if it were other people but not Sean. Bruce helped me pack my notes and saw my knuckles. He brushed a finger over it and I retracted them. He also saw my chin and a trail of blood down my neck.

"You need to see the nurse".

"No, no I'm fine"

"No you're not. I am taking you there myself". He collected my bag. When the nurse saw wounds, she was shocked. "Goodness! Who did this to you? I will send the person to the principal"

I did not want to tell on Kate and Riley because I knew Sean would get involved and I didn't want him to get into trouble. I was mad at him but I still love him.

"I…I fell down the stairs" she didn't quite believe me. "Are you sure? If you fell down the stairs, the injuries would be worse" I didn't know what to say.

"Uhm…I…"

"I caught her in time" Bruce spoke up. "Oh! Thank you" she went to the next room to get bandages.

"Why did you lie?"

"Uhn!"

"You lied"

"I'm sorry. I didn't want to get in trouble"

"Him?"

"Sean" He sighed. He moved close and squatted in my front. But for the pain, I would have blushed. He moved my hair from my neck and touched my neck, making me tingle. No boy had ever touched me like that except to drag me around.

"This doesn't look new" There was a huge red mark there. It wasn't the only mark they've made on me. The other ones are hidden under my uniform.

"Sorry"

"For what?"

"Sorry" He signed again and went back. If I don't like Sean, I would have fallen for his brother already. His brother, Bruce, is the captain of the soccer team and the one that girls go crazy for before considering Sean. He didn't date anyone since his last girlfriend, Anthonia, drowned in a pool party. He was absent from school for a month. Some said he was having therapy because he was getting suicidal. I don't know what he would want with someone like me.
