First Love Second Chance

Can a love which never even got the chance to start, end at all? Can a love be extremely beautiful but at the same time terribly excruciating? Can a love rend your heart but at the same time heal it just to make it beat stronger the second after? It can. Because Desiree' and River's love, was that kind of love. A love that can't be beared but at the same time it cannot be forgotten nor put aside. A love able to take your breath away and make your heart inflate. Where could a love like that lend? To the sweetest oblivion and terminal withdrawal or to an inexorable happy ending?

Roses

Eyes into eyes, simultaneously they lifted their glasses. Riven seemed to follow her slow movements without departing from her eyes. Her lips rubbed against the glass' cold surface, she swallowed down the little saliva she had left in her throat, due to the grump. their eyes still tied into each other and her dainty hand wrapped the glass, strongly as she inclined it allowing the wine access to her mouth. The bitter and sour liquid touched her tongue, immersing her with memories and with such a familiar taste.

Her eyes flicked and she swallowed it down, it was a matter of an instant before she closed her eyes, and the scene of them together drinking sangria filled her mind, bringing her back to the past.

...

Thrills ran down her spine, as she took a second sip. The fruits remained at the bottom of the glass but gave the bitness of the wine a certain sweetness that reminded her of Riven.

Maybe she was just like the fruits of his life, giving sweetness to that bitter taste yet not changing it just emphasizing the taste.

"So tell me the whole story I can't understand, you only like sangria as a drink? That is just as odd and as crazy as it sounds," he said laughing lightly and shaking his head in disapproval.

"Yes, I mean, this is the only alcohol I allow myself to have."

his thumb sweetly and carefully swiped away the wine at the corner of her lips.

"This makes it even weirder." He whispered as he stared at her lips which now colored slightly of a mauvish shade.

"Well, I've always been called weirdo so I got used to it." she shrugged off the comment.

"I wasn't calling you a weirdo." he departed his gaze from the lips just to glare at her.

"I would never call you a weirdo."

"It's fine," she smiled.

"It's not fine if it makes your eyes go sadder, I would travel back in time just to erase all those bad memories from your past and color it with the love you deserve." He deeply said, his hand placed on her warm cheek and she unconsciously laid her head on it and closed her eyes as his thum sweetly caressed her jaw.

She smiled.

"And you're so much more beautiful when you smile, but be careful with that, your smile is able to do many things ."

"such as...?" She asked as she opened her eyes curiosed

"such as wake up a part of me I thought I didn't have,"

he scoffed and resigned clapped his forehead, "this motherfucking drink is stronger than I thought."

Desiree laughed loudly, "Don't blame it on the alcohol."

"You're right, I blame it all on you, damn Desiree, your effect on me is stronger than any alcohol's and more addicting than any drug out there. And , I am profoundly and undeniably happy with you. I feel like you're my purpose in this fucking life I have, you're my light. I don't know what you did to me but you're like a malediction yet its antidote."

...

Desiree opened her eyes as she felt her breath and a strong tight in her chest heaved .

Riven was still looking at her, but his gaze saddened, maybe he just got the same dejavuu as her.

Damian's eyes fled around the room, most of the guests had already sat down and it was time for the groom to reach the altar and wait for his bride.

"I shall go," he indeed whispered before clearing his voice and taking a long breath.

He walked to the altar and turned with his face toward the priest.

both Desiree and her mother reached the bride's guest seats on the right side of the room.

Not too long after, a sweet romantic melody started playing on the piano and the lights turned off, just a light enlightened the entrance and everyone turned to look at the beautiful bride making her entrance.

Desiree's heart stopped beating for an instant just to start racing again, her eyes filled with tears of commotion and joy, pride and excitement for her sister.

She folded her sister's arm and showed her a big smile as her vision now got too blurry to let her see anything.

Luckily the way to the altar was straight and linear not to stumble, nothing but positive thoughts and pride filled her heart and in that instant, she even forgot about Riven and his bad behavior. She wouldn't let any man ruin that day for her and her sister. Although she could feel Riven's prominent gaze on her she ignored it and continued the walk. There was just the bride now.

The altar was reached by the two sisters, Desiree smiled one last time at the soon-married couple, and with her eyes still filled with tears, she managed to walk away.

The priest cleared his voice, ready to start the speech.

She was so happy for her that she finally met the man she truly deserved, the perfect man, since they started dating she had never heard her sister complain not even for a minute, they got along so well that they seemed the male and the female version of the same person. They invented the word compatible and Desiree almost envied them for knowing she would never have what they shared.

Sophia was beautiful, if there were more synonyms to the word beautiful Desiree would use them all to describe how stunning she looked that day.

  ...

In a eyeblink the priest was already prononcing the phrases.

Silence in the room, just sobs could be heard.

"Are you prepared, as you follow the path of marriage, to love and honor each other for as long

as you both shall live?"

"I am."

They join their hands togheter in the most sweet honest, truthful way. "I, , take you, , to be my wife. I promise to be faithful to you,

in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love you and to honor you all the days of my

life."

His eyes filled with tears and his voice trembled of commotion. the whole room couldn't take it anymore and most of the guests now were crying.

Just like Sophia who as soon as a tear tried to break out she swiped it off to impede it from ruining her make up.

"I, , take you, , to be my husband. I promise to be faithful to

you, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love you and to honor you all the days of my life."

Riven's eyes moved unconsciously to Desiree and looking at her he took a long breath, a broken smile curved his lips.

"In the sight of God and these witnesses, I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may

now kiss!"

Desiree turned, she felt a odd feeling as if a heavy stare laid on her, but as soon as her head turned, Riven promptly looked away.

The couple kissed, and each guest smiled with a heart full of love, hope, and commotion. 'If only love was always like that', 'if only she could have had what they had' Desiree thought to herself.

But maybe she wasn't that lucky and maybe Riven wasn't the man for her.

It was time to forget him, just like he did.

She had to accept that sometimes cupid shot his golden arrow to the wrong person. in that room full of guests, maybe she could meet her prince, someone who doesn't forget her that easily.

the guests threw rice as the couple as they all screamed and cheered congratulations.

Desiree meantime walked to the side, leaving the happy couple take the compliments. she needed some time alone for reflexion, she walked to a roses plant, and stared at it for a second as her mind wandered in so many directions she couldnt even organize her thoughts.

as she stared at the bush of red roses, she heard footsteps reaching her, but she ignored those. she was too enchanted of the beauty of the plant to stop staring at it.

there were so many roses there, she didnt even know a plant could hold so many flowers.

will it be picked to create some boring boquet? what a sad.

"Desiree!it's bouquet lauch time! come come!" her sister called and she rolled her eyes.

the fatal moment had come.

She turned around, when her gaze fell on the ground.

A black dark rose stood on the floor.

she kneeled down to pick it up when she noticed a note.

'red roses are beautiful but they cant compete with black ones. just as rare and uncommon and for that immaculately precious and stately.'

She turned and looked around in search of the person who could have dropped that rose but no one was there leaving her with a odd confusion and a sort of curiosity.

what that phrase even mean?

Why a black rose and not a normal red one?
