Why did dad leave us, mom?

"It's been four years..." Mei said as a teardrop fell from her eyes as she stood in front of Rui's grave.

-Four years ago-

After taking back what Mei has lost from her aunt and her family, Mei kicked them out on the street.

She won back her parents' company and house. Although, she combined it with Rui's company later on because it was too much trouble to deal with two companies for her. Anyways, that's what her parents wanted to do with Chen Rui's parents.

Rui has helped her out there a lot. As promised, he gave her his shares of the CHin company which helped her buy the whole Li industry. She also became one of the richest women in the world, on her own capabilities. She just didn't show off her abilities like other women would so she just decided to stay a housewife later on when she got pregnant.

Her uncle and aunt died from a heart attack. They couldn't handle losing everything they won with evil conspiracy. They had risked everything they had.

Li Xiuying became a prostitute at a bar to get a better life than in the streets. She had always tried to seduce guys to get money and power.

A total gold digger!

As for Li Jin, he decided to take revenge on Mei and her husband who took everything from his family and ruined it.

One day, Mei and Rui went out shopping. They went to buy clothes and toys for their child to be born. They bought it for two genders since Mei wanted it to be a surprise. She found it nice to wait until the child was born to kind out what she had instead of just knowing before head. She was already seven months pregnant back then.

On the other side of the road, Li Jin has taken a truck to drive straight on them. He had nothing to lose. Worse, he would have ended up in jail but he couldn't stand seeing them happy and smiling together when his family was destroyed.

He pressed on the accelerator and drove at 100 km/h straight, targeting Chen Mei and Chen Rui.

Rui noticed something coming towards them and pushed Mei first but he couldn't avoid the crush...

Mei watched her husband being crushed as she couldn't do anything. Her eyes widen, as she was trembling. She was scared to even look at all the blood.

"M-Mei..." Rui said with a trembling voice as he was laying on the ground trying to reach her with his bleeding and weak hand.

"Rui!" Mei came to her senses rushing to him and as she held his hand with tears in her eyes that she didn't let escape, still trembling. "Wait, let me call the ambulance!"

She took her phone from her pocket with trembling hands and dialled the emergency number.

"Please come to the xxx street. There was a car accident! Hurry!!"

"... Please take care of our child..."

"You're going to be ok! What are you saying?! We will raise our child together, idiot!" She yelled with a trembling voice as she began crying without realizing after dropping the phone.

"Hahaha... I love you... so much.." he took a deep breath. He recalled the very first time he had met his beloved wife. She was just a little girl, yet so beautiful. He had loved her ever since. He had forgotten her face over the years but he heard her family name he knew it was her. He couldn't bring himself to love her wholeheartedly yet he couldn't stop melting into her warmth.

He chuckled and slowly closed his eyes with a smile on his face as his vision was getting blurry. He didn't complain. He knew it was his time to leave.

"Why are you smiling?!.. N-no... Don't leave me... Please. I'll be even better than before so, please... Please don't do this... Don't abandon me like my parents..." she sniffed with tears as Rui tried to wipe her tears, she felt his hand that was getting colder. Just at the slightest touch, his hand fell to the ground. He was dead...

-Back to the present-

Mei had bought some flowers and gave them to Rui's grave.

It was red roses, which meant love. The other was forget me not and orange blossom, the flower she gave him for the first time which meant eternal love.

"I'll always love you. Along with Chen Xue. I promise to give him all the love of the world." she said as tears appeared on her eyes but she wiped them.

"I'll go now..." she said with a soft smile. "You're always watching over us anyways, right?" She turned and drifted away from his grave.

Mei walked out of the graveyard and drove home. Thankfully, Xue was still asleep. He might have been sad if he knew that his dad is in a grave. He only knew God took him away.

Mei An kept it a secret because he is still a child. And she didn't want him to go through a hard process. She decided to tell him when he's a little older and he can understand what death meant.

She arrived at an old house. It was a white house with a huge gate in front with guards. It had three floors, one basement, one main floor and one floor upstairs. The path towards the door was also covered with a different types of flowers. Mei reaches towards the door and grabbed the keys that she had in her purse. She opened the door with the key with Xue in her arms.

"You're home?" an old lady's voice said coming towards her.

Even though it was dark, Mei knew who it was.

"Mother!" She exclaimed with a bright smile lighting upon her face.

"I'm here too!" Chen Fei said with a pout. "Did you forget about me?"

"Of course not." Mei giggled.

"Sit, I will put Xue'er to bed and be right back.

"Alright." they both nodded and sat on the sofa.

Mei came back after a few minutes and sat on the couch with her in-laws.

Although they were her in-laws, they always supported her and took care of her as their daughter.

Plus her parents and the Chen family had used to be best friends. But Chen Zi and Chen Fei lost contact after her parents died.

Her parents had an agreement about Mei and Rui's engagement before. But Mei never knew about it until Rui told her about it.

"Child, are you sure you won't stay like this?" Zi asked with a worried expression on her face.

"Mom... I can't love anyone apart from Rui. And I can't even think about it."

"My dear, Rui is no longer with us... It's sad for everyone. You have to move on. You're like our daughter and we can't see you like this." Fei sighed.

"I'll think about it... I doubt someone is willing to be with me along with Xue'er. I won't leave him for myself." She said with a faint smile.

Chen Zi hugged her daughter-in-law.

"God, you're such a sweetheart." Chen Fei chuckled.

-After a few days-

Mei went to pick up Xue from school. She wore decent clothes but her beauty still attracted people's stares which she hated.

She was waiting for her son and looked at the watch to see the time.

"It's past the time his school ends... what is he doing?' she thought with a worried face.

When she looked up from her watch she saw a little boy's silhouette; it was Xue.

"Xue'er! What took you so long?" She walked towards him.

The boy's eyes were filled with tears. Mei was shocked and held him in her arms as soon as she noticed.

"Why are you crying?!"

"Mommy... everyone says dad left me and you. That you are bad. And I'm a mistake..." the boy's tears fell on her mother's shoulder making her shirt wet.

"Baby... your dad didn't mean to leave us. You're not a mistake. Your dad loved you a lot. Trust me." She said with a faint smile as she let go of him to look into his eyes.

"But why did he left us?" He frowned.

"Who told you that?"

"Everyone does!"

Mei sighed and picked up her crying child in her arms and put him in the car. She drove from the school's parking to the graveyard where Rui's grave was.

"Mommy?" Xue asked.

"I'll show you where your dad is." She said with a cold tune.

Xue froze for a second and felt chills going down his spine. Since his birth, his mother never talked to him coldly. She was always loving and never got mad at him. Even when he drew on the walls, when he messed up the whole house or when he begged her for new toys, new clothes and all.

Plus, she always refused to talk about his dad. She always avoided the subject or told him that God took him away.

'Why mommy acting like this?..' the boy thought as he teared up again. The dried tears began falling once more.

When arrived at the graveyard, Mei got off and opened the back door. She unbelted Xue's belt and put him down to walk.

She headed towards Rui's grave.

"This is where your daddy is," she said with a sigh. "He didn't mean to leave you. It just happened. He protected you and me. He wanted us to live happily." she kneeled and looked at her child.

The child nodded.

"Does this mean daddy is a good person?" he asked tilting his head in the side.

"He was the best person ever. I'll tell you more about him when we get home ok?" she smiled and held her son's hand walking towards her car.

"Looks like we meet again." said a male's voice coming from Mei and Xue's back.
