11 Keeping a Promise

Exedra had left his mother's room after hearing her story and his mind was in a jumble from everything that he had just heard.

The original Exedra had always assumed his father was some horrible bastard because his mother refused to even mention his name.

'Only now am I realizing she never really stopped grieving...' He thought exhaustedly.

It's a strange thing to see your parent suddenly become so vulnerable.

It was even stranger for him because Yara had technically only been his mother for a few hours.

And yet it was undeniable that he cared for her in a way that he did not understand.

"I didn't know that being reincarnated would require this level of emotional introspection..." he muttered as he rubbed his temples.

Deciding not to think about it anymore, he inspected the new clothes Duke had prepared for him when he heard that Exedra and Bekka were going to spar.

A tight long sleeve black shirt with matching black pants.

While he don't mind black, and actually preferred it, he had a sneaking suspicion that Duke prepared these specific clothes for him because he was certain that Bekka would knock him into the dirt.

"Aaarghh!"

"Medic!"

"Monster..."

"Ha! Thirty four guards and not a scratch on her! I win! Pay me bitch!"

"Goddamnit.."

Exedra had realized that he'd finally reached his destination based on the anguished wails of the dragonnewt guards.

Sounds like this had actually become quite common in the dusty training grounds where the castle guards frequented.

Or at least they were whenever Bekka was out there with them.

Despite the 'dragon' in their name, these knights were closer to lizard men, their only differentiating characteristics being the large wings on their backs and ability to breathe fire.

Even if they were incomparable to true dragons, they were still nothing to scoff at and seeing Bekka surrounded by their exhausted, battered bodies while showing no sign of exhaustion other than a light sheen of sweat, Exedra began to have second thoughts about this sparring session.

He hadn't really ever been in a fair fight before, and every one that he had been in always resulted in his embarrassing total defeat.

His feet gradually began to get heavy, and he wondered if he should turn around and hide for the rest of the day.

'No, no, no this is a perfect chance to bond with Bekka AND get some training that I'm severely lacking in.' He shook his head hard while smacking his cheeks to free himself of his current weakness.

He couldn't live his life in fear like before.

In this new life he would be bolder, stronger, and take more risks.

Not just for himself, but for the young man whose body he was currently living in as well.

Both of them deserved to live their lives in the sun, not the shadows.

Exedra decided to check my current stats since that was the one thing he had yet to do since coming to this world.

'I think these are good, but I don't really have anything to compare them to...'

Glancing once more at Bekka's sexy and muscular body, the system took that to mean that Exedra wished to see hers as well.

'Okay…this seems doable.' He thought with a nod.

While she had  him completely beat in experience, he was hoping that his higher stats would help close the gap.

The mana within him began to flow more smoothly than before, going to ever corner of his body and rendering him in a relaxed and positive state of mind.

Bekka had finally noticed that the one she was waiting on had shown up and practically lept over the bodies of the guards to arrive face to face with him.

"Heyyyy! Exedra, you ready to spar?" Bekka said with a wide grin.

As a response, he only gave her a small helpless smile followed by a nod.
