Awakening of the System

Alex, now integrated into the body of the deceased young man, began to feel an unknown energy pulsing within him. It was as if a new power was awakening inside him, a power he didn't fully comprehend.

As he explored his new sensations, he noticed something strange around him. An ethereal glow surrounded his vision, as if he were seeing through a holographic interface. Words and icons floated before him, revealing information about his status and abilities.

"Status... Inventory... Missions... Gacha... Shop," he whispered, reading the terms that appeared before his eyes.

Curious and eager to understand the meaning of these words, Alex focused on each of them, hoping the system would provide an explanation.

1. Status:

As he focused on the word "Status," a detailed screen appeared before him. It displayed a list of attributes such as strength, agility, endurance, intelligence, and charisma, all with numbers indicating his physical and mental abilities. There was also a health bar representing his overall well-being.

As he focused on the term "Inventory," a tab appeared with several empty squares, ready to be filled. A peculiar box floated around, as if waiting for him.

This was where he should keep his items, Alex realized. It includes weapons, equipment, and special items that I can collect during my journey in this new world.

3. Missions:

The word "Missions" led Alex to see a list of tasks and objectives. Each mission had a description and an associated reward.

4. Gacha:

As he focused on the term "Gacha," an image of a roulette wheel with shining icons appeared. Here, he could spend a special coin to spin the roulette and receive random rewards from across the universe.

"It's a kind of lottery," he reflected.

5. Shop:

The word "Shop" opened a view of a variety of items and improvements available for purchase.

The shop worked with coins or points that Alex would earn by completing missions.

"Interesting," Alex thought. "This is like a character sheet in an RPG game. It seems I can improve my abilities based on the experiences I undergo."

As he absorbed all this information, Alex felt even more determined to use the system to his advantage. He realized that these tools would be essential in his quest to unravel the mysteries of the ALTOS and find his path to grow stronger.

After leaving the dilapidated house, Alex cautiously roamed the shadowy streets of Gotham City. He was fully aware that he was not a hero, and the world around him was full of dangers. His main goal was to find clues about the ALTOS and the final destiny system, not to get involved in unnecessary fights.

As he walked, he attentively observed the surroundings. The streets were filled with hurried people, each with their own stories and problems to face. Alex felt a strange connection with this city, as if there was an affinity between his new existence and the chaos that permeated Gotham.

In the distance, he spotted a familiar figure: the reporter who had mentioned the wave of crimes and the drug "Morpho" on TV, the same one that appeared in his thoughts when he heard the news while in the ethereal realm. He wondered if this reporter might be involved with the ALTOS in some way, but decided not to approach him. Instead, he continued his exploration.

While wandering through the dark alleys, Alex noticed a small crowd gathered near a backstreet. His curiosity led him there. Carefully, he approached close enough to see what was happening.

A sad and disturbing scene unfolded before his eyes. On the ground lay a man, apparently a homeless person, motionless and bleeding. A pool of blood formed around him. Standing over him, with an angry expression, was a group of thugs. They seemed to relish the momentary power they had over the poor man's life.

Alex's heart tightened at witnessing such cruelty. He knew he couldn't simply ignore the situation. Despite not being a hero, he couldn't remain indifferent, especially since he himself was once a homeless person.

Alex needed to act cautiously; his previous fight with his father had already weakened him. So, the only option left was to approach the thugs slowly, pretending to be just another curious bystander.

As he positioned himself near the group, he overheard the thugs mocking the fallen man and planning their next acts of violence. Alex took a deep breath, trying to control the anger boiling inside him. He knew he couldn't confront the group directly, but he couldn't just let it continue either.

Remaining calm, Alex decided to use his newly-discovered abilities to intelligently resolve the situation. He knew he could leverage the final destiny system to his advantage.

With a subtle gaze at the holographic roulette in his mind, Alex focused on the term "Gacha." He spent a special coin he had obtained from completing his previous missions and gave the roulette a spin.

The roulette glowed intensely before finally stopping at an icon that showed an ability called "Illusion." It was perfect for his situation. With a confident smile, Alex activated the skill.

An ethereal and brilliant wave emanated from him, enveloping the alley and creating an illusion that concealed the homeless man and distorted the appearance of the thugs. To anyone outside the illusion, it would seem like the alley was empty and deserted.

The thugs became confused by the sudden disappearance of the homeless man and the crowd that had gathered to witness the scene. They looked around, unable to understand what was happening.

Taking advantage of the illusion, Alex whispered to the homeless man, instructing him to quietly leave the alley and seek help somewhere safe. The man, still dazed by what had happened, followed Alex's guidance and quietly moved away.

Though weak, Alex's illusion was working, and he continued to confuse the thugs, making them think they were fighting against something that wasn't there. Seizing this moment of distraction, Alex went on his way, leaving the alley unnoticed.

In his heart, he felt a mix of relief and satisfaction for having helped the homeless man without resorting to violence. He understood that he couldn't always solve things this way, but in that moment, it had been the best choice.

Meanwhile, the memory of the encounter with the reporter and the mention of the drug "Morpho" continued to intrigue him. He knew he couldn't ignore this fact and decided to investigate further into this mysterious substance.

Sorry for the information dump. I wrote this chapter to explain how the protagonist's system works, which is similar to the system in the manhwa (I'm not sure if it's a manhwa) 'The Gamer.' I also wanted to give the protagonist a special ability, and the best ability for the beginning of the story was illusion. With it, the protagonist will be able to do many things in the future. Thank you for reading. :)
