His soul is chosen by the enigmatic ALTOS, multiversal beings with powers beyond human comprehension, to become the centerpiece of an intriguing and dangerous game in the DC world. Reborn in the DC Universe, Alex realizes he has been granted an extraordinary system called the "Final Destiny System." Chapter 1Death and Rebirth

The world was dazzling that night, with various fireworks lighting up the dark sky. Perhaps it was because of the New Year or for some other unknown reason, but Alex, lying on the ground, bleeding, had no time to enjoy that enchanting scene. After all, how could he enjoy it when he knew he was about to die at any moment?

"Thinking that I'm going to die alone on New Year's..."

Listen, Alex was just an "ordinary" boy from New York, the son of a Brazilian father and an American mother. He did not have a happy childhood, as his parents died in a car accident when he was 10 years old. This tragic event forced him to grow up quickly, not having time to play like other children, as survival became his priority.

New York may seem like a dream city to those who see it from the outside, but Alex knew it was a hell, a hell he desperately wanted to escape. However, in the end, nothing worked out. All the choices he made in his short life led to this unhappy outcome.

Why? Why him? Why did he have to lose his parents when he was just a child? Why did he have to go through so much suffering? Why couldn't he have a happy life like other children?

Alex wanted to scream these questions to the sky, but unfortunately, his lungs were already filled with blood, making breathing difficult. In the end, only death awaited him.

He constantly cursed the drunk truck driver who killed his parents and now, near death, he was cursing himself for doing something so stupid!

Alex was coming back from his "daily collection," which consisted of scavenging for any leftover food in restaurants. As he was returning, he came across a drug addict trying to rob some children, who were probably no older than 11 years old. On another occasion, he would have ignored it and sneaked away to avoid getting hurt, but today was a different day. That man didn't just want to rob the children; Alex saw in his eyes that he planned to do something frightening to them.

He didn't consider himself a hero, nor was he trying to be one, as he knew the danger of getting involved with certain people on the streets of New York. Long ago, he had learned not to get involved in other people's problems.

However, he acted on instinct. This "instinct" is something many humans have when they see a child in danger, a so-called "protective instinct."

Without a second thought, Alex flew towards the man, grabbed him, and tried to knock him down in any way possible, while shouting for the children to run away.

Thanks to the drugs the man was using, his body was quite weak, which made immobilizing him easier. The only problem was that Alex hadn't realized the drug addict was holding a knife. In fact, it was too dark for him to notice...

As Alex thought, the world suddenly darkened. He couldn't see anything, feel anything, hear anything. The only thing left was a feeling of loneliness, infinite loneliness in an almost infinite place.

Yes, those are the right words to describe this place, an infinite and dark place, where you just "exist."

Alex didn't know how long he had been in this place. It could have been decades, years, months, or even seconds; the only thing he knew was that he was already dead.

How did he know? Well, it's simple: apparently, in this place, he had no legs, hands, or face; he was just a floating ball. Although he couldn't see, he could feel that place with his tiny soul.

His soul was the only source of light that existed, but even that source was slowly fading away. Every second that passed, his soul decreased in size, becoming so small that it would fit in a child's palm. The only thing left now was to try not to forget who he was and how his life had been.

Lost in his thoughts, Alex didn't realize that in the background, a small whirlpool was forming, devouring everything in its path, consuming all the darkness of that place, trying to devour even the tiny soul residing there.

Alex quickly snapped out of his trance and realized the predicament he had gotten himself into. He became desperate, as there was no way to escape the great suction force coming from the whirlpool. Soon, he was pulled in by the force as his soul stretched like rubber.

"Am I going to die again? Well, I guess dying now is better than living in this place..." sighs

When his soul was completely sucked in, he found himself in another place. It wasn't a dark place like the previous one but rather a place full of stars and planets. It took his breath away; he never imagined that such a beautiful and majestic place existed.

But he soon found himself falling and falling, faster and faster, moving away from all those beautiful planets. His speed was so fast that it seemed like everything had frozen in place, giving him an indescribable sensation, something that could only be felt by experiencing it firsthand.

His soul crossed so many galaxies that he quickly arrived on a beautiful blue planet. As if it had foreseen what the little Alex wanted, his soul stopped abruptly. Upon seeing that planet, Alex quickly realized that it was Earth. He was ecstatic, thinking that he would reincarnate on Earth or that he had gone back in time. His happiness was immeasurable.

Unfortunately, destiny is something terrible and tragic, often ending hope in a horrifying way, and the little soul would be no exception.
