STARING CONTEST

.

"So, Coldplay, right?" I asked her as I turned around and grabbed my jacket. I fumbled inside the pocket and began to search for a snack I had grabbed while coming. She straightened herself up and looked around before turning towards me.

"Did you say something?" She asked, looking genuinely confused.

"Don't pretend you did not hear me say something just now " I responded and feigned a frown. Her face broke into a smile.

"I am sorry. I thought someone else was making an announcement." I ignored her and went straight to the point. I gestured to her shirt with my head and told her what I was saying.

"I was talking about your shirt, Coldplay." I told her again and her lips parted to produce an "Oh! Yeah. Anything you wanna ask me about them." She said and turned back to her laptop and began to click again. If I had the power to command her to stop typing, I would have done that right away. It was insulting with the way she kept typing and looking away while I tried to talk to her.

I didn't care if she didn't like my company or if she detested my presence. If she didn't want it then I would force her to have it because she needed it. That was what ran through my mind that second but I swallowed the insult and continued to talk to her about the  photo of the four men drawn on her shirt. "Tell me, what's your favourite song from them?" I asked her and she stopped instantly,  giving me a sidelong glance.

Her face lit instantly, but I knew that that expression was soon going to turn into a frown or a serious visage. So it was pointless to smile alongside. I asked her.

"What is your favourite song from them?" She turned towards me looking surprised and asked.

"Do you listen to Coldplay?" She asked.

"No, but why? Why do you sound like that?" She turned around again and clicked on the keyboard once more before saying.

"Never mind. It's just that guys like you never listen to Coldplay."

"And why is that? What If I do?" I asked her but she tugged her lips at the end and replied. "You don't and you can never." I chuckled at her response and asked again. "OK, but if I wanted to, which one would you recommend me to listen to?" I asked her and she stopped instantly to weigh it in her head. With her lips still tugged and her eyes pointed at the ceiling, she thought about it for a while before happily announcing.

"I think you should try 'Paradise,' she said and giggled because of how I gazed at her steadily. "Can you please stop gazing at me like that?" She said, The way she said it sounded sexy, and it did something to me. It was like a pull but I repressed the feeling immediately and covered it with a smile. "Great" I responded and stuttered on the next few words that came out of my mouth
