PLAYING THE DEVIL WITH MY EMOTIONS…

The truth of the matter was that I didn't even know what to say to her. And she didn't even seem to care about what u had to tell her. She stared straight ahead into her computer without turning sideways. I finally found the granola bar that I had been looking for all day. I took it out and asked if she would need some. She politely declined instantly. That was too fast but she soon turned back again to take a second look at what I had just offered her. She talked to me again as her gaze returned to the computer.

"I remember telling you that you shouldn't eat here." She murmured, still transfixed on what she was doing. I took a bite and responded.

"Sorry about that. I can't help it." I said instinctively patting my abs without even knowing it. She turned and glanced, her eyes flickering at my stomach before she looked away again and continued.

"Is Coldplay your favourite band?" I asked her again, taking another mouthful of my afternoon snack. "She glanced at me and asked me what I was doing.

The question confused me. Was she angry that I kept eating the granola bar even as she asked me to.stop or was she insinuating that she was not aware of all that we had been talking about. My eyebrows shot up as I responded.

"What do you mean?" I asked her amidst my mouth that was filled with the snack. She eyed me with skepticism written all over her face as I swallowed. "I was just talking to you. You wear a lot of Coldplay T-shirts, so I guessed they were your favourite band." I told her, still not comfortable with the way she was staring at me like I was a serial killer of some sort.

I tried to look as innocent as possible while talking to her but what went in and out of my mind deep down was to get under her skin.

"Really?" She asked, her brows still arched. I didn't want to think that she had been absent minded and was not not aware we were having this discussion.

"So, what do you have for me?" I asked her as I swerved to the side of the chair to get my phone from one of the pockets of my jacket. I had searched for it in my pants but I found nothing. I turned back and our eyes met. She had been peeling at my stomach when I turned around. Her cheeks flushed the moment she discovered that she had been caught. She began another staring contest with her laptop and even began to type faster.

Her character amused me so much. I continued to munch on my snack while looking at her. I knew I was going to get tired of her pretence soon. I was not the kind that stayed around for too long and I hoped she knew that. I knew I was surely going to get her, it was just a matter of time and perseverance.
