SO REAL...

And my parents, like many other parents whose child had done the same, disowned me. I was no longer their child and they, no longer my parents. It didn't mean much, what mattered was that I had the love of my life by my side.

While the rest who'd been found worthy of the Ascension that year went down towards the Enchantresses Obelisk, we stayed back on a cliff under the full moon, fulfilling final fantasies. We kissed passionately for a long time before she pulled out and reminded me that we would be late if we didn't leave. I obliged and we both dressed up. I couldn't wait to claim her and make her mine, forever.

We arrived ten minutes before the stipulated time, panting happily after a long run. The arena was already alive with music and eerie flashlights parading the sky. We got into the party and bumped into our friends -Jack, Connor, Jacob and Elsie. In the background were half-naked bodies, moving in rhythm with the beats that reverberated all over the arena.

They were shouting on top of their voice so that they could hear what the other person was saying. It was really noisy.

"What the fuck, she fucking cheated?" Connor's voice was raised. She wore a heavy make up. She was in a decottelage and tight-fitting pants. A girl right behind her was wearing a revealing, black velvet gown.

Jacob sighed and smiled before nodding his head in agreement. He was wearing a long coat and tight pants. He had a glass in his hand.

"I dunno guys if she is cheating on Jacob, trying to bang or do it on the trainer's desk, but I think she's like a bad girl."

"Well, she has been meeting with the president of the honor board to plead her case so they don't take up her case to the authorities.

"Damn girl, her life is a fucking mess right now"

"Elsie!" Jack reeled.

"No. She's right. It is! Haha" Jacob cut in, a hint of a smile curled up the ends of his lips

Two months later.

The first rays of light was slowly rising from the horizon. I heaved a deep sigh and looked around one last time. I was a rogue. I turned to see the Pack one last time. The Pack where I'd lived every bit of my life in but had brought me pain and intermittent spells of well-being. I stood, rooted on the line that separated both Packs and trudged on.

I heaved another sigh and trudged on. It wasn't long before I'd meet with the guardians of the boundaries. I knew instinctively that they would come for me if I didn't go to them. Yesterday and the day before was spent packing into my new house here in the Blue Moon Pack. If you'd question why I hadn't gone by my car instead, then this is it. It was customary that anyone who was relocating to a new Pack walked all the way down there. It sounded pretty stupid but that was the rule, and there was no questioning it.

I swiftly turned when something stirred behind me. I knew at that instant that they were around the corner. I raised my hands in defense and said: Alpha Obinna, Crescent Moon Pack.

"Nice to see you Alpha" A voice sounded from behind. It arrived through the telepathic portal of the mind link. I turned around to see a large brown wolf staring directly at me. It curtly bowed before howling. Three other wolves quickly sprang up from an underbrush a few meters away. The four of us were now standing in the clearing and they subsequently changed back to human form. They were not all guardians. One of them was being led across the boundary towards my Pack. We had a similar case.

"It's really an honor to see you, Alpha. I'll escort you towards the Pack while the other two will lead him across the boundary" his voice was guttural. He turned towards the other men and commanded them. They all bowed once again and moved on.

We were in the middle of our walk when a smell caught my nose. My wolf's aurical senses became alerted while my excellent vampire eyesight stretched further into the woods. But I found nothing. Yet I knew that danger was lurking somewhere near. I gave the man a sign to stop walking.

"Something about this place is not right"

He looked at me and scoffed. Then he turned around before casting me a strange look. "Everything seems alright. Remember that we must arrive before it is quite light. Alpha Morrisson will be very happy to have you among us"

I silenced him. The air was filled with the scent of Northern wolves. I picked up that scent when we'd gone there two years ago for peace-keeping. They were always at war; always ruthless and merciless. Pity wasn't in their vocabulary. At times it led me to wonder if Alpha Ezra came from there. Wickedness ran in their veins.

I was sent sprawling on the forest floor when I received a surprising, deafening blow. I fell and before I could make out time to recover, claws sank into my neck and tore the sinews. I screamed in pain, caught the hand like a g-clamp. I forcefully broke it and kicked my attacker backwards. Surprisingly, it was the guardian. My neck had healed and I panted, gazing straight at him. He whimpered and crawled backwards on his side, stretching his broken palm to ask for mercy. I never knew it was a strategy to distract me.

I received a vile shock that checked my strength and brought me crushingly on the ground. I couldn't move any longer. I heard voices sound behind me- a perfect Northern region accent. Their scent filled the air as I stared vacantly on the ground.

"You hit him too hard," I heard one of them say.

That was before the scent of wolfsbane powder filled the air, My strength slowly left me and a time came when I lay numbed on the floor. A second blow and my eyelids closed in death.

 ************

I gasped when cold water was poured on me.

****************

I did not speak, I only gasped for breath as I heard many voices speaking at the same time. It was pitch-dark. After a while I recognized the scent of wolfsbane powder and the heavy scent of Northern wolves hanging damply in the air. I grunted and shook my hand, but it was very weak. My hands were bound with inextricable shackles.

I heard a sound-track of the conversation we had during the last Pack meeting when Alpha Allan had warned me about the next Carnella. I heard myself speaking with Fabiola, even the sound of our love-making down the cliff. I stared in amazement, not knowing where I was and not knowing what time of the day it was.
