Chapter 2

(POV Shirou)

It was only a day after my fight with Lancer that I started to notice that something was wrong with my body.

At first, it was small things, like me accidentally shattering my glass, cycling faster than I expected when riding my bike to school, and having an unusually sharp sight allowing me to see at unnaturally vast distances.

But as the day progressed, I started to find more and more strange occurrences.

First, it was when I was able to somehow know exactly when my friends from school were lying to me.

Then it was during the Club activities when my archery skills went up unnaturally, this was something I attributed to me inheriting the abilities of my counterpart, but deep down, I knew that it was not the case.

It was when I was heading back home that I started to realize just what was happening.

The moment I came out of the building and the rays of sunlight hit me, I felt powerful, as if I could fight an entire army by myself and win, I felt mana surge from my chest at levels that were unheard of in normal humans.

I immediately headed home while riding my bike at an alarming speed but strangely, I felt as if there was no possibility for me to crash even if I increased the speed even more.

I finally understood what happened when I headed straight to my room and removed my shirt.

There, on my chest, was a red jewel embedded into my skin as if it was part of my body.

In the same way that it was located on Karna.

I immediately gave a call to Zelretch about this issue.

"Hello? what do you what Shirou?"

"Zelretch, there is a problem"

"...What?"

"I think I am fusing with the Lancer-class servant, Karna," I said as the line went silent only for him to shout in such a voice that I had to remove the phone from my ear.

"WHAT!, THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE- UNLESS, BUT, THAT IS STILL VERY HARD TO ACHIEVE" he continued to shout incoherently as I started to regret calling him.

"Zelretch, speak clearly, I can't understand you"

"...Okay, I am calm now, as far as I know, there are only three ways for a normal human to inherit the powers of a Heroic Spirit, the first one is when there is such a great synergy between the servant and human such that the difference between their spiritual cores would be almost nonexistent, you would be a perfect example for this since the archer card had your alternate self in it, the second case is when a human is implanted with a body part of the heroic spirit, but this process is extremely dangerous and in most cases leads to the death of the human because of the clash between the identity of the human and the servant. the last case is what I think happened to you, the case in which the heroic spirit acknowledges and approves of the human to receive their blessing and power, in this case, there is rarely any danger to the human in question, but there is a possibility of the nature of the heroic spirit influencing the human's thought process, however, there is a small difference between this process and your current predicament" he said as my thoughts traveled a mile a minute.

"What is it?"

"The only successful case of this process that I have witnessed is from a little girl called Mashu that belong to a different timeline, she inherited the powers of Galahad of the round table, she inherited this power after weeks of fighting and gradually gaining 'saint graphs', parts of the legend and experience of the Heroic spirit given physical form, but from what you have told me, there is a high possibility that you have directly inherited Karna's true power without even needing the saint graphs, the only reason you have yet to realize his full power is because of your own mind stopping you from using it, tell me Shirou, did Karna say anything when he was about to die?" He asked as I remembered his final words.

'I have already deemed you to be a worthy master to wield my power, young warrior, I can sense that you wish to protect something, keep this spirit alive and my strength shall never fail you'

I recalled these words and informed Zelretch.

"I see, these words confirm my suspicions, it would seem that due to the fact that he managed to retain his mind even when he was trapped in the class card and due to the nature of the card itself where it grants the power of the servant to the master, Karna was able to use this system to his advantage and pass on all his skills and powers to you without the need for saint graphs or for there to be a binding ritual, if my guess is right you should start having dreams of his life starting today and you should have full access to his skill in a few days time, the same way you utilize EMIYA's magecraft without the need to install the archer class card," he said.

Soon, we stopped our conversation and I cut the line.

I looked at the Lancer card in my hand and couldn't help but ask.

"Why choose me to inherit your powers, Karna? you should know that I am not worthy of this great power, but, since you have chosen me, I will do my best to uphold my promise to you, I will never use your powers for the wrong purpose and will never bring shame to your powers"

This is a vow I gave to him with all my heart, a vow made by a fake sword to the heroic lance of Indian myth.

I was distracted from my thoughts when as a knock came from my door, I immediately put on my usual t-shirt and opened the door to find Sella.

"Shirou, I forgot to tell you but your parents had called yesterday and said that they would be returning home tomorrow and that you should take a leave from school to greet them"

"Really? they are coming back so soon? then I guess it can't be helped, I will also tell Illya to not go-"

"No Shirou, Illya will go to the school, Irisviel-sama wants it to be a surprise for her" she hastily stopped me and said.

Something is not right here, why is there a need for me to stay while Illya will go to school? the logic for it is sound except for the fact that neither Kiritsugu nor Mom was that keen about surprises, not to mention the fact that Kiritsugu absolutely hated surprises.

There is also the fact that I could clearly tell that Sella was lying despite her not giving any signs of it, no doubt Karna's power at work.

"...Okay, I will tell Issei that I am not going to school tomorrow" I said as Sella nodded and went down, her shoulders tense as if she was afraid of something.

"What is going on here?" I mumbled as I closed the door.

I needed to take a rest- What the hell?

I immediately ran to the window and what I saw made my blood go cold with horror.

What I saw was the form of my little sister clad in a strange magical girl outfit, holding a stick that I was having trouble using structural grasp on, and flying through the air at an alarming speed
