After the drawn-out introductions between peers, we were led to the largest auditorium, which was in a whole other building. I knew there were three buildings in total that were all connected. For the most part in the playthroughs I did, two of the buildings were the most used locations. The one least used was the one we went into. I watched many bodies file in along with my homeroom peers. There were so many students I felt almost trapped, and I didn't think I was claustrophobic.
"Everything alright?"
I whipped my head around, getting a mouthful of hair. Leticia had longer hair than I remembered. "Bleh, yeah." I picked at my tongue as Jerakai snorted, in an attempt to not laugh out.
"You act like you're not in your own body."
I mean, in a way I wasn't. All my features were there but in some ways, I had morphed in an attempt to look somewhat like Leticia. Which was a major fail. I didn't have her hazel eyes, mine was still dark brown. While her hair was much darker mine was lighter. Also not to mention her being paler than me. The only thing given to me to be like her was her life I guess, maybe a few inches in height but still was short, and longer hair.
"I'm just clumsy." I shrugged.
That wasn't exactly a lie.
We had moved into certain rows as our instructors told us to, still standing with not a seat nearby. My legs were beginning to ache at this point from the long walk here to now having to stand. This would also probably last a while.
"Did you turn recently?"
I would have looked like a deer in headlights but I fixed my expression right away when realization dawned on me. To have played the game so many times and be a huge fan I was slipping.
"Not exactly."
So you just suck as a vampire, excuse me, a Blatzor. I could just hear him saying that next but instead, he said nothing. The brief silence was suddenly filled up with the loud blaring from a microphone.
Shrieks soon filled the room as well and I covered my ears searching past the bodies to find the culprit. My eyes leveled eventually with what seemed to be a stage and finally focused in on the person in the center of the stage. Caesar-
Or was it Casper?
The tall, lanky figure hovered over the mic attached to the podium stand. "Sor-Sorry everybody, I just wanted to test if it was work-"
"Well, now you know!!!" Someone from the crowd shouted.
The figure's face fell and his pouty lip along with those baby blue eyes just further tore me up inside. My heart.
This was definitely none other than Casper.
"Any-Anyway, I will be turning this over to our executive."
A lady about three heads shorter than Casper took his place while he stood nearby. Her face was cross, and her dark brown bun started to loosen with her head shaking in disapproval. "That is no way to speak to the potential class president. I don't want to see or hear that happen again. Does everyone understand me?" Her velvet eyes cut across the crowd.
Mumbles or loud cheers of agreement rung amongst us.
"Wonderful." A smile made its way onto her face but it was small. "Welcome to Coyllatane Heights to all the newcomers. As for those who've already been here, welcome back! Homeroom instructors should help you find your final schedule and will split you up into groups if not done amongst yourselves to go search for your classes to be prepared for Wednesday night, the start of classes. Any other situations or such should be dealt with before then. Disperse."
Many of the students would have scattered if it weren't for the instructors.
From the corner of my eye, I found Jerakai watching something, I followed his gaze to find Spencer. Closeby was Palemon and I felt a pang in my chest, causing me to wince. Jerakai's eyes left her in a split second, focusing on me, fangs slowly vanishing from my sight.
"Everything okay?" He asked as we followed fellow students out the auditorium.
No, but I didn't know why. Palemon was a lovely suitor but so were the others. I didn't have a favorite, or at least I didn't think I did. But this feeling was like I was in love with him when in all honesty, I would say I was with all of them while playing the game, but actually being here right now I don't think I could say the same. The past times I played were the past and I wasn't actually in it, this was different.
"I'm gonna assume that's a no." I fell into his chest.
I shoved him back instantly feeling my face burn. I would have yelled at him, wondering why he did such a thing but I realized I had almost walked right into a pole.
"Sorry, I'm just out of it…" I fell back into the weird crowd-like line before I lost him.
We made our way back to Dr. Butler's classroom. Jerakai and I split ways to sit at our seats and red hair caught my eye. He was quite tall, sitting in the other row only a seat away. I can't believe I hadn't noticed that Casper was in here earlier. Suddenly his back went straight. His head slowly turned, I'm sure he looked over his shoulder but his hair had done a good job with covering those baby blues so I wasn't sure if he had seen me or not, or if he was even looking at me to begin. But his head quickly whipped around, almost giving me secondhand whiplash.
I hadn't even noticed the ripped corner of paper on my desk. Scrawled on the paper, almost unreadable was Please don't stare, I know I was an embarrassment on stage. I almost snorted, thinking it was cute! And well...sad. But not meant in a mean way.
After digging into my bag I found a pen and wrote back Don't be too hard on yourself, if you want to be president you have to figure out something that works for you. People are going to stare, I didn't mean to though. My bad.
I may have taken up all the space on the paper to write normally, regardless I reached over to pass him the note. Just a brush of my hand against his back made him shoot up, posture perfect.
"Sorry." I scrunched up my face in guilt.
He let out a breath before somehow reaching back in a weird way without turning around. I dropped the note in his hand so I wouldn't accidentally touch him again.
"Passing notes- and with Casper of all people."
I jolted looking ahead to see no one. Still, I felt the presence. I slowly turned my head to find Dr. Butler standing behind me.
Now, how the hell he get there without me knowing.
Oh yeah, powers. Or I just wasn't paying attention.
"Are we going to have problems?"
I dunno, are we? This is a dream where honestly I can do what I want. Things I never would do.
"If you're going to creep on me like that then yeah, we are."
I think I saw his eyes narrow on me.
"This is your first day- not even that, I'd rather not have to write you up. So let's just move on." He took a deep breath before relaxing. "You need to have our school's app downloaded if not already, on there you should find your schedule and much more. Please read everything under the first post, you may have to do some scrolling but you'll find it in no time. Let me know if you need anything." And with that, he was gone from my side before I could even blink.
"I'm sorry you got in trouble because of me." A soft voice spoke.
Of course it was Casper, who else could it have been?
But this started to become a boring dream. I almost wanted to start some shit just because.
"It's alright." I waved my hand even though he hadn't even turned to look at me. He was only going to break out of this shell if he was forced-
Or helped.
"Why don't we go look around for our classes together?" I suggested as I pulled my phone out.
I didn't hear anything so I assumed that was a no. But when I looked up from my phone I found his blue eyes wide at me and practically sparkling, his body was also turned somewhat my way.
"Really?"
Thanks for reading! ❤
I'm going to try to post 2 more chapters before the 6th or so for the contest to meet the word goal but we'll see what happens.
