First Death

"James told me that Cathy got a job from Lin's shop after getting out of prison. Her old job at The Now didn't want to take her back and many people didn't want to hire her too because of her stay in prison."

Gwen sighed as she told Freya, they were both in the break room and were standing in front of the coffee machine, the room was where they kept it and anyone that wanted to drink coffee could come and get it there.

"That's good news, Lin is such a darling."

"I know, right?"

"Freya." Ethan called as he walked into the room, "Lydia is looking for you."

She nodded, "I'll be right back." She told Gwen and followed Ethan to Lydia's office.

She knocked on the door, "Come in." She entered and found Lydia sitting behind her desk.

"Please sit down." Lydia gestured to one of the chairs in front of her desk. She sat down and looked at Lydia in anticipation.

"I know you don't trust me anymore, and you dislike me now because you found out that I am working with Clara, but like I told you before, she has something over me and I have to do as she says."

"It doesn't matter, you're letting them have power over you, and that is what will destroy you, not what they have over you." She said in a clipped tone as Lydia clasped her hands together on her desk.

"You don't have to agree with what I'm doing, and that's not why I called you here. I called you here to give you an advice, Freya. You see, Clara and Dr. David are two very powerful and evil people. They don't care what they have to do to get what they want, I want you to be careful and try not to offend them."

"You mean to bark when they say and jump when they say just like you do?" She felt her jaw clench in anger.

"Freya! I'm trying to help you here because I can see that you're a good person and one of my best employees, you don't deserve what they're doing, so just try to make peace with them!"

"Make peace with them? What do you want me to do? Dr. David keeps following me everywhere and harassing me, HE keeps trying to offend me. Why do you care so much anyway?"

"Because I don't want to see you dead, Freya." The fact that Dr. David and Clara can kill her didn't surprise Freya, but Lydia showing she cares about her was surprising since she was one of their pawns.

"I'm sorry, Lydia. I know you're only trying to help, but you don't know what they have done to me, and I will be careful, but I can't be their pawn. Thank you for your concern." She said coldy again and stood up to go when Lydia's eyes caught Freya's ring finger.

"Is that an engagement ring? Are you marrying the CEO?" Lydia asked in a mixture of disbelief and surprise.

"Yes." She said and wasted no time to get out of the office.

She had never talked to Lydia like that, she has always been calm and gentle, but she also never knew that Lydia was working with them. She was glad that Lydia saw her ring because no one would really believe Luke, a millionaire would fall for a small town lawyer even as beautiful as she was.

"Freya, I heard your voicemail about the engagement. Congrats! I'm so happy for you." Salma said as she walked up to Freya and hugged her after she came out of Lydia's office.

She felt some of her anger dissipate as she concentrated on her engagement. She had called Salma last night to let her know the news, but she didn't pick up and the call went to voicemail. At the moment, Salma had just come into work when she saw Freya.

"Thank you! Luke is so caring!"

"Freya!" She turned to see Gwen approaching them. "Cathy is here to see us both, she's waiting in the reception."

"We'll talk later." Salma said to her and she nodded before following Gwen out to the reception.

Cathy was sitting on one of the chairs there, she stood up when she saw them. "Freya, Gwen, I don't know how to thank you. I am so grateful that you reopened the case and got me out. I don't know how I would continue to survive there if you didn't get me out."

She placed her hand on Cathy's arm and rubbed it comfortingly. "It's no problem, it's Nora that set you up."

"Yes, I heard. I knew she is evil, but I never thought she would do something extreme like this."

Gwen nodded, "Yeah, she even killed her own husband."

Freya looked at the time on her watch, "It's 10:22am already, and Lydia told us yesterday to meet her today at 10:15am."

"Yeah, we need to go. Cathy, we're so glad you got out." Gwen said and Cathy nodded as Freya said,

"Cathy, can you wait for us to come back? We really need to meet our boss before she fires us."

"It's alright, I understand. I need to get going anyway, I just wanted to thank you both for your help." She smiled at them, and they both nodded with smiles on their faces turning around to head to Lydia's office.

Gwen knocked and pushed open Lydia's office door. They walked in and sat down on the two chairs in front of her desk. "Sorry, we're late. We had a visitor." Gwen said.

Lydia looked at Freya, "You should have waited when I called you here instead of going back out."

Freya didn't say anything and Lydia moved her gaze from Freya to the two files that were in front of her on her desk as she picked them up and handed each to them, they collected and opened them.

"This is the new case you both will be working on. Percy Nathan was found dead last night in her bathroom, it was ruled a murder by the police. There are 6 suspects to this case; Finn Harold, Cathy Dean, Nina William, Nick Carter, His wife - Zoe Nick, and Mathew Sanders.

We are defending Finn, he came and opened up a case here this morning because Percy's other grandmother, Lily Mann has accused him of murdering her because they dated, but recently had a big argument."

Freya and Gwen both looked shocked that Percy has died as they turned to look at each other then back to Lydia.

Dr. David opened the door to his house and wheeled his daughter, Sophie inside on her wheelchair. He had just picked her up from the school for disabled children where they were being taught like regular kids, the only difference between the school and other schools was that the school for disabled children was only for children with disabilities so that they wouldn't have trouble fitting in.

He wheeled her to the living room and picked her up from the wheelchair and placed her on the couch laying her down since her legs were paralyzed. He wanted her to rest since she has been sitting all day, she was all he actually cared about. He didn't even care about Clara like that, he was using her to get what he wants.

He picked up the remote and turned on the TV to a learning channel, "I-I want t-to be..." Sophie started, trying hard to speak, he walked closer to her and squatted down to hear her better.

"What's that, Angel?"

"I want-t to b-be a d-doctor l-like you." She barely managed to say, "And you will, Angel. You will."

He has been teaching her how to speak again so that it'll be easier for him to understand what she wanted. He stood up and walked to the window facing Freya's house out of habit. There was no one living there anymore, he missed seeing her there working on her computer or watching the TV.

He follows her to work sometimes to watch her from afar because of that guard her CEO boyfriend gave her. His hand clenched into a fist as his jaw clenched, he needed to get Freya and he needed to get her soon.

Because of her, he stopped operating in his home and stopped keeping his victims there, he knew she was up to something. She had proved to them that she couldn't keep quiet when she reported them to the police, but then she may not try anything since he broke into her room and scared her. Whether Freya was going to try anything or not, he and Clara have agreed that it was best he continued his operations elsewhere where she would never expect.

When he broke into her room, he had wanted to have her and quench his thirst for her, but that other girl had to interrupt them, and now, that CEO has her protected in his house and always her has guarded by his body guard. He couldn't stand it, and he hated feeling that way.

He took his phone from his pocket and called Sophie's babysitter. He had to find a way to get Freya and to have her. He must have her.
