All of a sudden a weird mist appeared in front of our young heroes. What was strange was that the two youngsters saw two different things when they looked at the mist.

Li Xue saw a purple mist that was filled with lightning crackling about. The mist gave off an aura of destruction and felt particularly threatening. Gu Wentian saw an azure mist that gave off a calm and peaceful aura.

Both boys fell into a trance and unconsciously, both of them sat down and began to meditate. They were both enlightened by the respective mists. While they were meditating, their bodies started absorbing the mist and the pure energy it contained made their cultivation advance exponentially. In no time they went from being normal mortals to being more powerful than Ancient Gods.

When they opened their eyes, trillions of years had passed. They had completely absorbed the mist and at the same time inherited a few memories. At the same time, Gu Wentian had achieved complete mastery of the laws of space-time while Li Xue had achieved complete mastery of the laws of Lightning.

Although their physical appearance had not changed a bit, their mental temperament had experienced great changes. Just by looking at them, one would feel that they weren't normal people but powerful experts.

"So it's like this huh? Who would have thought the universe would have been created in such a way and that we would be involved in it...", said Li Xue while falling in deep contemplation.

Gu Wentian agreed and chopped towards the empty space. He proceded to extending the crack he had just created into a portal that lead into another time.

The two youngsters entred the portal and the portal closed itself.

Somewhere within primal chaos, before the universe itself existed, two figures suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

"Hey, this is kinda cool! The view here is marvellous."

Gu Wentian's lips twitched upon hearing his friend's comment. This is primal chaos! This kind of energy is immensely powerful and few can withstand it. Plus, who stares into nothingness and says that the view is marvellous!? Marvellous your ass!

"We're here on serious business. Remain focused."

"Bah... you're no fun. We've become powerful martial experts like in those wuxia novels... what's the purpose of being serious? It's not like people would dare comment on our behavior. "

" You forgot we still have to create the universe and set up the heavenly daos? "

Li Xue was forced to remain silent. Although he wanted to have some fun, it's true that they still had a lot of important stuff to do.

Both of them sat down into a meditative pose and closed their eyes. They slightly trembled and two different but powerful energies were given off of them. Gu Wentian gave off a calm and peaceful aura that felt very soothing. But at the same time, it felt domineering and unyielding, as if it refused to acknowledge anything else. Li Xue gave off a violent aura that seemed to want to destroy everything in its way.

The two energies seemed like they were polar opposites and a clash seemed inevitable. However, instead of that, they harmoniously began to work together. Slowly but surely, they broke down Primal Chaos into different forms of energy.

And so, the nine heavenly daos were being established and the universe as we know it was created. Gu Wentian gave birth to the Heavenly Dao of Space-Time while Li Xue gave birth to the Heavenly Dao of Lightning. It could be said that the former represented creation while the latter represented destruction. These two Heavenly Daos resulted in two more heavenly Daos, namely, the Heavenly Dao of Life and the Heavenly Dao of Death. After all, creation resulted in life while destruction resulted in death. These two heavenly daos materialised into two living beings. The Heavenly Dao of Death formed a devilish looking man that had two majestic horns protruding from his head while the Heavenly Dao of Life formed a beautiful lady with a pair of wings on her back.

At the same time, the Primal Chaos split into the five elemental Daos, that is, the Dao of Fire, Water, Earth, Metal and Wind. And so, the nine Heavenly Daos were created and the universe was established.

The universe was composed of nine realms, each of which containing millions of galaxies and spatial planes, aligned in a circle. The fourth realm was a special one, consisting of heaven and hell as well as a few million mortal planes. Heaven was jointly created by Gu Wentian and the Ancestral God of Life while hell was jointly created by Li Xue and the Ancestral God of Death. It could be said that the fourth dimension was the hub that everyone in the universe would go to before being reincarnated.

The four creators of the universe fell into a weird trance. Although they could still see everything that was happening and that they could talk to each other, they were unable to move, no matter how hard they tried. And so, they remained like this for about four quadrillion years.

Living beings evolved until about 1 quadrillion years after the creation of the universe, humans were born.

Cultivation was discovered and people started empowering themselves. About 3 quadrillion years after the creation of the universe, the nine realms stabilised themselves. There were a variety of living beings but the ruling races were humans and divine beasts. The sixth realm was said to be nearly entirely ruled by beasts and had only a few small human factions. Similarly, the first realm was nearly entirely a human fiefdom. The ninth realm was a bit of strange one. It was the weakest realm yet both the Dragon and Phoenix clans, which are the two most powerful beast clans, settled down there. However, they barely interfered with the workings of the ninth realm. This left many perplexed.
