A Stroll Down Memory Lane

Somewhere in the vast universe, at the very edge of the ninth realm, existed a vast plane filled with mountain ranges that spread across it. This place was known as God Burial Mountains. As for why it bore such a name? Well, this is because it is an extremely treacherous place. Only Gods and Ancient Gods could enter it to search for fortune and even such powerful existences would leave their lives behind if they were not cautious enough. Also, every thousand years or so, the mountain ranges would shift position and anyone who entered it during these times would not be able to come back. Therefore this period of time would be called the Dead Season, during which nobody dared come even close to God Burial Mountains.

What most people ignored was that the mountains did not simply shift position. In fact, they were completely destroyed and then created again.

It was now the time for the Dead Season and not a single soul lingered around God Burial Mountains except for two people who were flying above the tallest mountain in there.

The one on the left was a red-clothed handsome man with crimson eyes. He was rather burly and looked just like a regular human, if not for the majestic pair of horns coming out of his head.

The other person was a youth with coloured eyes and clothes. He had azure eyes paired with an azure robe and looked like a scholar. He was just like a human, with no extra part sticking out.

"So, Gu Wentian, the time has come again hasn't it..?", said the red-clothed man.

" Indeed my old friend", replied the youth with a smile.

What followed was an earth shaking battle that annihilated the entire mountain range. The two people were fighting with their all, without any regard for their lives. They moved so fast that all that could be seen were flashes of light, of course that is what you would see if you could withstand the aftershocks from the battle.

Suddenly, Gu Wentian gave up on dodging and blocked the red-clothed man's fierce punch with his left arm while at the same time punching towards his horns. Gu Wentian's left arm vaporised into a bloody mist but strangely, his bones, which were abnormally azure coloured, remained behind while one of the two horns of the man was slightly cracked.

Both people stopped fighting and looked towards each other while bursting out laughing.

"Haha, Gu Wentian, I must again admit my inferiority. Although I destroyed your left arm, the bones are still intact while you actually manahed to crack my horn... too terrifying... you are too terrifying..."

"Haha, Satan, you praise me too much. You are also very strong. If not for my flesh which dissipated part of the attack, my bones would have surely been cracked..."

Then, at a speed visible to the naked eye, all their injuries began to heal.

Now let's wind back time and go back to when our young hero Gu Wentian was but a normal teenager.

Somewhere in Luoyang City, on Earth, during the year 2019, Gu Wentian was walking back home from school alongside his lifelong friend, Li Xue.

" What kind of excuse was that, Li Xue? You were late because you helped a lady open up her store while on the way to school? That sounds like bullshit! You could have found a better excuse for being late."

" But that's really what happened, it's not my fault if you can't believe it", replied Li Xue. " Anyway, tomorrow is Mo Zheng's birthday. What did you buy for him? Come on spit it out! ", continued Li Xue.

" Meh, with your loose lips, if I tell you what I bought, the whole world will know about it in no time. Plus, you'll get to know tommorow, like anyone else. What's the rush?"

" You are no fun. I assume you will be coming to play online games with us tonight?"

" Of course, you, me, Mo Zheng and Wu Xinyue make up the team. Without me, our squad would be incomplete and you'd get eliminated in no time."

" Hmph, that's all you, blowing your own trumpet."

All of a sudden, the two boys saw a flash of light and both fell unconscious.

A few hours later, news about an explosion in Luoyang City was everywhere on the news.

"Welcome fellow auditors to tonight's breaking news. This time, we have received news of an explosion in the town center of Luoyang City. Although no ones seems to be injured, two young boys, namely Gu Wentian and Li Xue, have been reported missing. This is to say that the death toll is probably 2. Meanwhile, a lot of buildings have collapsed completely. It is a true miracle that apart from those two, no one was injured..."

A gloomy atmosphere reigned in the Gu household where the members of the Gu and Li family were present. The two mothers were pouring their hearts out while the two fathers were trying to remain strong, although they were visibly shaken by the news. As for the siblings, they weren't doing much better than their mothers.

Gu Wentian's eyes slowly opened and he found himself in a completely unfamiliar place. All around him, he could see the stars and below and above him was the emptiness of space. Weirdly enough, he could walk on it as if it was a solid floor.

"Wh...where am I?"

Gu Wentian heard a voice by his side. After hearing it, his mood improved. Although they were stranded somewhere in space, at least he had a trustworthy friend by his side.

The arrival to this strange place forever changed the lives of the two boys and made them two of the four Overlords of the universe. But of course, that was much later on.
