41. Holder Magic

After sparring with the students and teaching them some important things, Ben let them go home. Then like last week, Wendy & the cats go to play with the girls, while Ben goes to the library.

There are still many books in the library that he need to scan. Ben chooses the books and gets the copies from the old librarian lady. Ben goes to the 2nd floor and starts to scan the books.

'AI Chip, is there any abnormality in my body after that battle?' Ben asks AI Chip while scanning the books.

[Yes. The moonlight that you ate affects your body a little.]

'What?! Why don't you tell me?' asked Ben.

[Because I was not sure, and it was temporary.]

AI Chip explains to Ben that eating the Moonlight has caused a problem for him. His body was made to hold the hot Sun energy, but moonlight have coldness in it. That coldness affects his body a little.

It's not a fatal problem, but it can't be ignored too. The coldness makes his body's ability to hold heat reduce a little. But it just affected his body for some period after he ate the moonlight.

[It is like adding a block of ice to boiling water. The ice will reduce the water's temperature. But because the fire is still on, the water will be boiled again.]

'So it's not dangerous, right?'

[It can be dangerous if you eat too much. The coldness can destroy your body permanently if you eat too much at once before you recover.]

'Okay, I will be careful of that. The moonlight is just an emergency source of energy, I won't rely on that. Anything else?'

[No other side effect has been found.]

'Phew, what a relief.' Ben continues to scan the books.

Ben finished his books scanning at 4 PM. He leaves the school and picks up his team, then they go home. As usual, the girls tell him what they've done with their friends. Ben just responds accordingly to their story.

After they arrived in the village, they go to the Guild building. They report their job like usual to Roubaul. There's no problem with their job, so Roubaul dismisses them after that.

For the next 2 days, Ben focuses on recovering his body. Wendy cast healing magic on his broken bones in the morning, to make him heal faster.

He also lay under the sunlight to absorb its energy and heal himself faster. He lay near the lake while the girls play near him.

"This ability to absorb sunlight and heal my body is really good. But I need a lot of liquid for it, just like a plant that uses water & sunlight," said Ben while enjoying the sunlight.

Carla responds to him, "Maybe you'll become green like a leaf too someday."

Everyone imagine if Ben becomes green like a plant, and cringe to it.

'Why'd I imagine myself as Hulk instead of a dryad, Trent, or other plant magical creatures?' Ben is confused about himself.

Ben leaves that thought and closes his eyes. He checks AI Chip's database to read something to kill time. He scrolls through the list and finally finds something that interests him.

The thing that interests him is Holder Magic. All Ben's spells are Caster Magic, so he's not that familiar with Holder Magic. He gets interested in it because he has some magic items like his car or knife.

Ben wants to learn Holder Magic to increase his range of abilities. These 2 types have their strength & weakness. By learning both types, he will be able to cover each types' weakness.

Besides, Ben likes to learn new things, and Holder Magic is basic knowledge. So there's no way he won't learn it. He might be able to make Holder-type spells in the future.

Ben asks AI Chip to transfer all knowledge about Holder Magic to his brain. AI Chip transfers it to Ben and he feels many information entering his brain. Ben has gotten used to this, so he doesn't feel dizzy or hurt at all.

Ben gets all the information about Holder Magic that AI Chip had scanned in the past. He processes all that information while enjoying the sunlight and breeze of air.

'What the heck? It uses magic items but still needs the use of the Mage's MP? Isn't this a scam? I thought this will use an external source of MP like lacrima. Even my car use lacrima, not a mage's MP,' Ben protests in his head.

Ben protests, but then he remembers that his car's mechanism is new. The old model uses the mage's MP, not lacrima.

'Wait, the knife uses lacrima as fuel. So I can use it when I ran out of MP before,' ponder Ben.

Ben thinks of it and remembers that the crafter of that knife is Roubaul. That old man knew how his magic car worked in detail. So Roubaul must've applied that concept in Ben's knife.

Ben grin and go to Roubaul immediately. He will ask that old man to teach him magic items crafting. The lacrima energy is his idea, so he has the right to ask it.

Ben goes to the guild building and sees the old man is flipping a magazine's pages to look at sexy girls like usual. He hides the book immediately when he sees Ben, but Ben doesn't care about it.

"Old man, can you teach me how to craft magic items?" asks Ben.

"You're interested in it? Sure, why not. You can make your own magic items in the future when I'm not around anymore," replied Roubaul.

"Hmm? Are you feeling like your time will come soon? Well, you're very old already," joked Ben.

*PLETAK* Roubaul hit Ben's head with a wood stick. "You sound like you want me to die faster, rascal."

"I'm joking," said Ben while rubbing his head.

Raoubaul snorts and sits on his seat. Ben takes a sit on the floor, then the lesson start.

Roubaul explains some theoretical stuff first. Ben records all of it using AI Chip so he can learn it every time he wants.

"Thanks to your invention to use lacrima as fuel for the magic car, now I can also use lacrima for normal magic items," explains Roubaul.

"So, does it use the same mechanism?" asks Ben.

"It is. That's why you made the right move to patent your invention."

"!? Did the Council & Kingdom want to use it?" Ben is surprised.

"Yeah, my friends have informed me about it, and we agree with it. Your money should've raised a lot by now."

"I never checked it, so I don't know."

Ben never checks his bank account. So he really never know if his money increase or not. But it surely decreased because he use it to buy many things.

Well, he doesn't really care about it. He has a good life now, and he won't change it even if he has a lot of money. He knows what's important in life is not money, but himself and the people around him.

He had asked Roubaul before to move out from the forest. Ben has a lot of money, so they can just build a big guild in the town. But the old man and all the guild members also refused.

They said they enjoy a peaceful life in the forest. Well, even Ben likes to live in here. He had lived in a big town in the past, and it didn't give him a peaceful life like now.

So he agreed with everyone to stay in this village. He'll just use his money to buy things that he & everyone want or need from the town.

"Alright Ben-boy, let's try to make a magic item," said Roubaul

"Okay."

Now, Ben's magic item crafting lesson has started.
