Chapter 80: The Battle of Fairy Tail! (7)
~Rou POV~
*THUD*
"Damn… it…"
Falling down with his face bruised up as I wipe off the blood dripping off my face as I began to talk back to the down Laxus, "Huff… that's… what you… get punk… but I understand… a man's fist wields lots of weight…"
Applying some Healing magic on my face flinching at the pain sensation while I see Laxus knocked down taking out a lollipop and talking to him, "That was one hell of a punch. But there was never a chance a punk like you could defeat me lacking any heart. You better go ahead and apologize to your old man."
*Thud*
*Thud*
Listening to the steps of people coming over Mavis, Gray, and Erza all came in as they congratulated me on handling Laxus with Gray being the first, "Rou!! Glad to see you are okay and you managed to beat Laxus!"
I nodded as I replied going towards him as I began to use Healing Magic on him, "Yeah. Just trapping him without his magic using Jutsu Shiki. Taking a page out of Fried's book."
Erza notices me healing Laxus as Mavis takes Fried unconscious body using Telekinesis as I place an Enchantment Seal on him with her asking concerned, "Are you sure you can handle him again with his Magic?"
Laughing lightly I replied to Erza as I finish up my Enchantment Seal I explained to her in a kind tone, "Yeah. But I prefer that his old man deals with him. Hopefully, everything will resolve peacefully but then again maybe not. Hopefully seeing the flying Lacrima being gone would do the trick."
She nods as Gray gazes over Laxus frowning trying to understand him with disdain on his face and making his comment, "Trying to force everyone in this sick game of his? There are always better ways to ask but then again coming from this guy I wouldn't bother to listen with how he acts with everyone."
Sighing at this I won't do much to change their perspective.
"LAXUSSSS!!!"
Cried out loud we see Natsu coming at us only to stop seeing Laxus down for the count before cursing missing the action, "Damn it!!! I missed the action and fighting against Laxus!! Rou come fight me –"
Not before too long Erza rushed in and smacked Natsu away like a bug listening to her words coming from her, "Shut it Natsu!"
*BAM*
Natsu was instantly knocked out as I laughed out loud helplessly at his antics, "Hahaha… Natsu is defeated by knockout."
Gray commented on this as he sighed seeing Natsu being Natsu getting defeated this easily, "Sigh… you really need to take a break fire breather."
As if by magic Natsu responded as he got up again angry trying to make a comeback against Gray as usual, "What did you say you overgrown icicle?!"
And there back at it again.
Yup.
They are definitely gay for each other but jokes aside though I go over to Mavis seeing the cleanup crew is here getting their attention, "Alright since you guys are here, I think you can take over cleaning up. We have a date to finish today before something else pops up. Can you guys handle it?"
Hearing that Gray eyes light up lightly as he nods in understanding ensuring us that they'll handle the issue, "Oh right. You two were having a date before this shit happened. Yeah, we can take over here dude. Sorry about this happening to you."
Mavis soon comes over to my side as she holds my arm leaning towards me as she thanked Gray for his words, "Thanks Gray-kun! Hopefully, everything gets settled down back at the Guild hopefully. Now then where were we, mister?"
Smiling at this as we leave the 3 back to their business pondering the idea Mavis has I replied sheepishly enough, "Hmm… since we got the clothing done with how about we get some food and pay our respects for a friend. You know the one…"
Mavis looks at me a bit surprised but smiled lightly as she replied to me agreeing to visit an old friend resting here, "Right… I suppose in all our adventures and seeing the future we have been neglecting a certain someone haven't we? I suppose it's only right we go there at once and bring some form of peace with him."
Yeah…
There was one place we had to visit before the Fantasia starts tomorrow with Makarov's condition, he'll be forced to take a day back.
But before the Fantasia happens there's still one place, we have to pay our respects to an old friend of ours before enjoying ourselves.
Hopefully, he can forgive us after such a long year apart…
/////
After getting something to eat and returning back home to get some Sun Giant's Ale to pay for my form or respect Mavis and I stood in front of Yuri's grave seeing the years.
Mavis mumbles lightly as she began to read the contents of the gravestone in a saddened tone in her voice, "Yeah… he lived a short life after we left in just 4 years in X700 on a mission. The cause is unknown, but Rita and Makarov might have been devastated by the news in the past… if we have stayed would've you walked among us today I wonder…"
Sitting down pouring down a cup for Yuri as I mumble seeing his tombstone in regret not taking care of this issue, "Sorry to see you died after 4 years when Makarov was born. But I also apologize if we were there, we could've done something… I could've done something to prevent this but… sigh."
Sighing out loud I knew for a fact I couldn't help him even if I tried.
Not for a lack of trying but for a lack of what actually killed him that leaves much to be desired here.
In the original story in the year X700 he passed away for unknown reasons, never learning that Mavis' curse was the reason for his wife's death.
But since I prevented Mavis from becoming immortal that never happened with Makarov having Rita his mother being around, but I never knew what caused him to pass away either leaving me blank on what to do.

Pouring a cup for an old friend and for the both of us into our cups with Mavis bringing sweets for him resting on his grave.
Taking the moment we both did a silent prayer for our fallen friend that departed us from the world ahead of us as I talked to him, "No worries Yuri you'll probably be lonely up above. But have no worries when we finally meet up again, we'll tell you about the amazing magical life we both led till our deaths. We promise you'll have a good laugh at what shenanigans we've been up to while we were gone."
Clasping our hands together and praying to Yuri I hear Mavis's words escaping from her as she made her own peace to Yuri, "I promise when we meet again will explain everything. I was hoping to meet you again old friend here in the living… but no worries when we meet in the afterlife will be all together again. Precht, Warrod, and the rest of the members of the past. Will all meet again above the stars when our time comes."
Smiling at that I wouldn't mind meeting the rest of the gang again when we finally depart from this world and let the future generation take care of the world, they live in.
Like that we took the moment to take our time and make our peace with the world hopefully Yuri accepts the gifts from where's he looking at.
And he better hopes he accepts them otherwise I'll drag his sorry ass back to the living to make a formal complaint!
HAhahahaha…
Haha…
Ha…a
…
*Splash*
Taking the time, I noticed I began to tear up slightly feeling the droplets of water forming from my eye as I couldn't help myself but shed some tears as well as the form of regret not being there when he needed us.
My eyes tilted towards Mavis as she did the same because what we did was greedy and selfish going ahead of everyone into the future enjoying our lives despite us saying we did this to save everyone.
But deep down…
We both probably considered in the back of our heads that we simply wanted to see what was beyond our lives and see the future ahead.
We both knew what we were doing taking this route into the future saving it from its complete destruction from the Dragon Invasion but in doing so we paid an unknown cost of our past life doing so.
If we stayed in the past couldn't we have done something to save Yuri?
Past regrets formed but we both knew it had to be done that doesn't mean we had to like the idea of abandoning our friends.
Although we couldn't warn or take our friends with us because I knew doing so would jeopardize everything in the future doing so.
The only reason why Mavis and I were the only ones is because she already exists in the future and I died leaving my own fate unknown…
And yet sometimes I hate that rational side of myself for thinking and not doing however I knew it couldn't be done.
I really hate myself for knowing the future I really do because I can't take chances on uncertainties in situations like these and yet I did so to ensure Mavis is able to die and grow up without any fears or consequences of my actions.
Quite the walking contradiction among us huh?
Hahaha…
I'm such a pathetic man if that were the case but at the very least though if my beloved is happy and safe then I'll continue to play the pathetic man to the very end if she lives then that's enough for me.
Enough for me to continue enjoying this life I share with her as she's my light in this crazy world I found myself to be reincarnated in.
There are these what-if thoughts in the back of my mind of wondering how the events would be changed if I wasn't born in the Mavis era and had been taking care of her until now.
Those what if's scare me deeply because somewhere out there a possibility of it already happened and another not.
And it's these certain times like these that make me wonder if I stayed would things have turned out differently or not…
…
Guess there's no point truly thinking about it huh?
Smiling at this after taking our peace for the last few hours and praying to an old friend Mavis stood up and turn to leave but not before we say will return to our good friend one last time before heading for the night.
Will all meet somewhere again once everyone's time has come.
That's most certainly a promise… old friend.
