Chapter 23: Honey

*Earthland, Ishgar, Fiore*

*April 13, Year 772*

*Afternoon*

In a clearing inside a forest, A man is pleading to a girl while giving looks to the boy next to him. The two locked eyes and time seemed to have stopped.

[Eye Communication]

Gildarts: Hey you should help me!!

John: Why should I? You brought this upon yourself.

Gildarts: If you help me, I'll help you do one thing.

John: Ten things.

Gildarts: that's too much, 2 things that max!!

John: Then good luck not talking to Cana for a week.

Gildarts: Don't Don't, 4 things this is really the max anymore I'll rather endure.

John: Fine, just this once, I bet you won't even last a week not talking to Cana.

[Eye Communication end]

Completing the transaction between men, I walked towards Cana and put a hand on her head.

"Ok, Cana I'm sure that Gildarts really didn't mean it and was just joking"

Cana pouted, " Fine I'll forgive him for you this time, but there must be no next time or else Hmph!"

I smiled and said" Well, let's go back to the village today and I'll cook you something delicious tonight"

We rested for a couple of minutes and then started our journey toward the village.

As we were nearing the village, I sniffed the air and smelled something like... Blood?!

I looked at Gildarts and noticed that he has a solemn expression on his face.

He seems to notice my stare and looked at me. He then spoke with a serious tone that I'd never heard before.

"Listen you two I'm going to the village and you two will wait inside the mountain for me, Okay?"

" I'll come too, I can also help." " I can also help"

Gildarts looked at us with a serious face and then said in a slightly angry voice.

"No! Be obedient go back to the mountains and don't come out until I went to find you, Okay?! This is not some simple child's game, People are dying!"

As he said that a wave of pressure pressed on us, making it hard to breathe.

We looked at Gildarts serious face and nodded, the pressure then withdrew like a tide and he was back to his jolly self.

"Wait for me at the mountain okay?"

Watching the back of Gildarts going to the village, I pulled Cana back to the mountain.

While we were walking Cana asked something.

" Is Dad gonna be okay?"

"I'm sure he'll be alright, he's the strongest wizard in fairy tail after all. He'll solve it in record time and come pick us up."

Hearing this Cana pumped her fist and punched the air with an excited face.

"Of course, my Dad is the strongest of all, he'll beat the bad guys in no time."

"Well let's hurry up and go back to the cave."

After a couple of minutes, they got back to the clearing and went inside the cave.

Looking at the cave with bones of unknown animals piled up on a corner and a horrid smell lingering inside the cave.

I turned to Cana and said" Let's clean this place up first, it smells horrible hahaha"

Cana nodded and then we started to clean up the cave. We took the bones and buried them outside, and got water from the stream and washed the place.

After we were done cleaning, We sat on a makeshift chair with a table between us.

Looking around I noticed a rock that look out of place from its surroundings, it was red not like the dark brown ground around us.

I walked toward it and noticed that at the edge seems to be a hole.

I pushed it and found it extremely heavy, so I took out my totem and blast the living daylight out of this rock.

Anyway, the rock exploded revealing a large hole in the ground with one-meter-high jars packed densely in a random fashion.

"What happened?!"

Cana rushed here when she heard the sound and looked at the hole in amazement.

"I didn't expect this bear to be rich, it still stores honey in a secret stash."

"Well let's open it up"

I had one totem come to a jar and open it using its mouth, as the lid came off a sweet smell radiated from the jar and spread into the cave.

"Rich! Rich! We struck it rich this time, every jar is approximately 2,500 Jewels, and there are about 35 here HAHAHA"

"Ah really? HAHAHA, it really is rich then."

"Well since we already opened one, And I'm starting to be hungry, I'm gonna cook you a honey chicken BBQ."

" Is honey chicken BBQ delicious?"

" Of course it's delicious, Just wait for a while and you'll ask me every day to eat it in the future."

Unknowing to John, He just planted a flag to be used as a chef every time he partied with Cana and others. And every time Cana has a chance she'll pester John to cook BBQ.
