Face Your Mistakes

Delyth; The girl who took her power as a beautiful young lady for granted. The girl who would use her looks to get what she wanted, to be able to get away with things she shouldn't be able to. Sylvie; The girl who took her anger out on the innocent, the girl who didn't stop to appreciate what was giving her fresh air to breathe. Vaan; The boy who was too reckless to see the big picture, too reckless to comprehend the real meaning to not be scared of death, too reckless to care for other's well-being. Solon; The boy who used his intelligence as a weapon. The boy who instead of using his mind to help society, used it for his own gain. Those are all completely different people. But if they were really so different from each other then why were they put together to survive in such a situation? How did they even end up in this place? Stuck in a stupid video game. With a system they were yet to understand. A system that would bring back their worst memories and tell them to face it, a system that would force enemies to become frenemies, a system where the only way out and back to having normal lives is by completing challenges and gaining points. Challenges that seem all too targeted against each of them. Little do they know, they were put in this situation for a reason. What is this reason you may ask? Well that's for me to know, and for you to find out. Each character has done something, taken something for granted, something that they will soon come to realize it's real meaning. Their abilities inside of the game each have a meaning, a meaning that might make sense if they knew what each of their names meant. Accompany these four different teenagers as they try to figure out why they were put in this situation and why they're forced to work together despite the tension between some of them. All you need to know is the one thing they all have in common, the reason they are here in the first place is the first message they saw as realization dawned on them as they entered the game. "You're going to have to Face Your Mistakes if you want to make it out of this game alive."

The sun was shining, the clouds we're nowhere to be seen, the wind was crisp, the trees we're flowy, and the grass was soft. All of that, and yet there are four teenagers screaming bloody murder in the middle of it.

"Where the hell am I?!" Delyth screamed out loud as she panicked.

She soon realized that she wasn't the only one that seemed to panic as she heard other voices too.

In fact, it seemed like she was the last one to get- wherever the hell she was.

Desperate for company, she walked towards where she thought she heard people were.

-----

"𝙔𝙤𝙪." Solon said, his voice dripping with venom as he looked and pointed towards Vaan.

''𝙔𝙤𝙪."Vaan repeated the exact same words right back at him.

Both of their pupils dilated as anger was evident on both of their faces.

Without a second to waste, both Vaan and Solon lunged at each other.

They've just randomly teleported into what seemed like another universe yet the first thing they did was go at each other's throats-

...Makes sense.

Delyth slowly pushed the bushes aside as she stared at the two boys beating the hell out of each other.

Solon had grabbed Vaan by the shirt and slammed him against the nearest tree.

"What the hell was that a while ago, huh?!" Solon screamed at Vaan as they continued to throw punches at each other.

Vaan used to be the one winning the fight in the over-world, but this time it seems like Solon had found strength out of who-knows where.

Delyth didn't know what the hell was going on, but she knew one thing was for certain.

This wasn't going to end well..

This fight had come to the point of blood in a matter of seconds.

But soon there was only one standing while the other slowly fell..

Solon backed away as Vaan's seemingly lifeless body slid down the tree.

Solon's eyes widened as he stared at what he had just done.

Somehow during this fight, his hands weren't just hitting random places.

It seemed as if he knew exactly where to hit and where it would be most effective.

Delyth covered her mouth as to not scream once more as she stared at the young boy's body.

Solon fell backwards in disbelief. He went closer to check if Vaan still had a pulse.

𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜..

He had killed him..

That was in fact true, but that didn't mean this was the end.

Both Delyth and Solon stared wide eyed as they saw Vaan slowly blink his eyes open.

But... How could this be? Solon was sure that there was no pulse to be detected.

Not only that but Vaan slowly got up as his scars and bruises slowly faded.

"W-what the hell just happened?" Vaan said.. almost scared?

"W-we thought you died!" Delyth decided to speak up as Solon's mouth was still dropped.

"I.. I did, but now I'm back?" Vaan replied as he furrowed his brows in confusion. "And here I thought this day couldn't get weirder."

Vaan's attention immediately split from Delyth back to Solon though.

As his gaze darkened, he slowly approached Solon, but before he could take another step forward Delyth immediately put her hand on his chest as she stood in his vision.

"Don't even think about it." Delyth said seriously. "I still don't know where the hell we are, but who are we to know that he would come back to life again too?"

Vaan, still upset just shot Solon a death glare as he made the decision to back up and lean against a tree.

Vaan stared at both of them in anticipation, "So? Go on then -- anyone have an idea as to where we are?"

𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚..

Vaan was about to speak again, but he saw someone come from behind Delyth and Solon as he was facing towards them, but they were facing him.

"You." A female said as she stared at Delyth from behind.

What is up with everyone and saying 'You'?.

Delyth turned around as she found that voice to be quite familiar. "Y-you?! what're you doing here?!"

"What am I doing here?! I can ask you the same thing!" Sylvie replied.

Both females exploded into an argument as they almost started to pull each other's hairs, both boys had held them back.

Hey, at least the guys could agree on that.

Solon held Sylvie as Vaan held Delyth. "Guys! we don't have time for this sh*t!" Solon said in annoyance.

"Yeah, do any of you even have a clue about where we are right now?!" Vaan said, completely done with life at this point.

Both girls soon calmed down, but their glares stayed fixated on each other.

"I have an idea as to where we are.." Solon said as he had his hand on his chin. "I think we're stuck in a video game-"

"Are you nuts?! Do you know how idiotic that sounds?!" Sylvie spoke up.

"Will you hear me out?!" Solon huffed out in anger. "Right when I appeared here I saw what seemed to be a title screen of some sort, and it said something along the lines of 'You're going to have to Face Your Mistakes if you want to make it out of this game alive'."

Solon looked at them as if it was the most obvious thing on earth. "The key word there is 'game', so I know that sounds absolutely bizarre and it honestly doesn't make sense to me either, I think it's the only logical answer."

Vaan nodded his head as he had just realized something. "So, almost like Jumanji."

"J-juma- what- now?" Delyth asked, confused as to what the hell he was talking about.

Vaan sighed, "It's.. it's a movie from way back in 2017 I think?"

"I'm sorry what?- are you seriously comparing what's happening right now to a movie you watched? who watches old movies anyways?!" Sylvie questioned, making odd actions with her hands as she spoke.

"Shut it- whatever your name is, he might have actually be on to something." Solon said as he crossed his arms.

"Wait.. do we even know each other's names?" Delyth asked as realization dawned on her.

"This is unimportant so let's make it quick." Vaan said rolling his eyes. "I'm Vaan."

"Solon." Solon stated blankly.

"I'm Delyth!" Delyth said with a little more enthusiasm then she had hoped.

𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣..

"Ahem!" Solon coughed as he looked at Sylvie while raising his eyebrows trying to signal for her to join in as well.

Sylvie sighed as she gave up even trying to keep her identity a secret. "It's Sylvie."

Solon clapped his hands together as he continued. "Great! now that we all know each other's names, Vaan do you care to explain what the movie was about, it might be able to help us."

"Right, uh- well there were these 4 people who basically got sucked into a video game and they had to complete the game's quest before they could be able to get out of the game, oo~ and some of them even had some romance if ya know what I mean." Vaan stated as he sent a wink towards Sylvie.

Sylvie looked at him completely repulsed by his actions and his pathetic attempt to flirt. "Boi, I don't know who the hell you're talking to, but it sure as hell ain't me." Sylvie stated as she raised an eyebrow.

Solon's giggle is heard in the background as he watched this situation.

"Ahem...moving on. They all had three lives and- oh! they could check their weaknesses and strength by pressing on the left side of their chest I think?" Vaan explained as he tried to remember.

"Damn, you really into old movies or something?" Delyth asked. "Wasn't that like 30 years ago or something?"

"It doesn't matter." Vaan stated as he rolled his eyes.

"Should we try to press the side of our chest or something?" Solon suggested.

And so they did...

Nothing happened.

So they tried the other side..

Also nothing happened.

Solon was close to giving up until he saw something on the tree Vaan was leaning on.

He walked towards the tree and slightly pushed Vaan out of the way.

"Hey! you wanna pick a fight with me again?!" Vaan threatened.

But Solon paid no attention to him as he ran his fingers down where there was a drawing of some sort

It looked like a drawing of a hand in a specific pose or position of some sort carved in the tree.

Curious, Solon tried to replicate the same pose with his own hand.

And to everyone's surprise A huge screen appeared in front of him.

Alas, they've found it.

Typed on the screen before him was:

[ 𝙰𝚋𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢:

"Holy-" Solon stated in disbelief as the other stared in awe. A smirk creeped upon his face. "Scan analysation, huh?"

Next was Delyth, she walked up to the tree and tried copying the same hand position as Solon had done.

Once again, a screen popped up.

This time, it contained something different.

[ 𝙰𝚋𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢:

𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙪𝙘𝙠, 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙖𝙨 5;5.

Delyth was slightly embarrassed as to what hers was. She cleared her throat as she nodded her head.

"5;5? interesting.." Vaan said in thought.

Next was Sylvie..

She had done the hand pose on her first try. She was nervous to see what this game had to offer for her.

[ 𝙰𝚋𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢:

𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚'𝙨 𝙠𝙞𝙨𝙨.

Sylvie looked enraged at the moment. "Are.. Are you sh*tting me right now?" Sylvie said in disbelief. "Nature's kiss my ass."

The other's couldn't help but start laughing lightly at that.

Vaan was slowly recovering from his laughter as he realized it was his turn.

"Uh.. alright then, let's see what I have to offer." Vaan said as he rubbed his hands together, soon making the same pose with his hand as the now familiar screen popped up once more.

[ 𝙰𝚋𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢:

𝙉𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨.

"oh! so that explains the incident from earlier!" Delyth perked up.

"Earlier?" Sylvie questioned.

"Yeah.. uh.. I may or may have not accidentally killed him-" Solon tried explaining before he was cut off by Vaan. "Accidentally my ass!"

"Guys-" Delyth started. "So, it's official, We're stuck in a video game."
