44 A new disciple!

For Marie, she had had enough. It was enough that she had already lost her cultivation, but to lose her pride in front of such a man! It was far too much. She had a huge ego that was keeping her mentality stable. That pride allowed her to say that: 'I'm better than others' and get away with it.

This was the first time that she had completely lost in strength and background. Though she wasn't sure of Ji Chen's background, just by remembering him knocking her out, was enough to show that he was likely hiding his strength. She was sure that she was beaten in all aspects. The way that he had spoken to her back a few hours ago had really hurt her pride. It seemed as if she was the one who was looking down at others, it made her realise the hypocrisy in her words.

She looked down the window and breathed in and out, preparing to jump out. The Fort was built around 10 metres tall. Falling from this height and without cultivation would mean that she had a 90% to die! Marie didn't really have thoughts that she would survive this fall, all she could hope for was a quick and easy death.

She shouted as she ran and leapt out. Her dream of becoming a commoner was not a joke. Just living an average life was like a dream to her.

Marie spread her arms out as she fell downwards. She kept a completely calm and indifferent face.

-I wish this stupid life a goodbye!

She knew that it was selfish. It was selfish that she had gone out completely by herself. It was selfish that now those soldiers would be suspected of treason. Selfish for those people that had risked their lives to get her out her situation. She let out a sigh of relief. She wasn't a good person in the first place, it was right for her to go to the underworld.

She had let go of herself, waiting for death.

But as she was having those thoughts, a large frame could be felt clutching her stomach.

-Who?

That was the only thought that she had on her mind. The arms weren't muscular, they were instead thin and lean. The warmth made her feel as if she had ascended beyond the heavens. She could only let herself ragdoll and dance in the arms of the frame.

Moments later when she could feel the ground, the first thing she did was open her eyes, instantly asking:

"Who?"

The words that she got back weren't a response, but instead a loud and annoyed voice chiding her:

"Why did you jump off? Don't you know that you could've died!"

Marie turned around. She could now see the frame clearly... It was the person that she'd never expect: Ji Chen! The man who had been cold and harsh had actually saved her! Though Marie wasn't expecting some prince when she turned around, she would've never expected Ji Chen to save her from a gruesome death!

Marie wanted to thank Ji Chen, but her behaviour earlier didn't allow for her to say that. She could only argue back, this time showing signs of weakness:

"Why did you save me? Didn't you put me up there to kill me anyway?"

She was blushing like mad, making her face as red as a tomato. Sadly, Ji Chen still didn't know that a red face like that was blushing, he could only mistake it for anger!

"Why are you mad at me? I saved your life!"

Ji Chen argued back. He wasn't one for staying weak and hiding in the corner while someone insulted him!

Kane was watching from afar and was facepalming. He didn't expect Ji Chen to actually be so dense to mistake blushing for anger! Kane could only send a message to Ji Chen telling him to start recruiting Marie.

The instant Ji Chen received such a message from Kane, he started to look at her physique. He could only start grinning like an idiot when he saw her physique.

Marie was facing downwards listening to Ji Chen's 'Why are you mad at me? I saved your life!' She was too ashamed to look Ji Chen in the eyes. She couldn't see Ji Chen grinning like an idiot.

"You may not know, but the only reason I had put you to sleep back then was to help you!"

Ji Chen looked at Marie's head. She was facing downwards, and she was shorter than Ji Chen, so Ji Chen couldn't look her directly in her face.

"What?"

And that was the response that Ji Chen had expected from Marie. He was starting to feel in control. Kane could only look at the cringe face that Ji Chen had pulled with disdain.

"Do you think that someone like me would cripple you for no reason? Like I've said: I did it to help you! You're a one in a billion! You have a condition called 'Yin Great Veins!'"

The moment Ji Chen had said that Kane couldn't help but start to shiver.

-Someone with such talent! How could such a person be from the Thirty-Third Heaven?

"Impossible! I have Roaring Yin Veins! How can I have 'Yin Great Veins' if I've never even heard of them!"

Marie could now clear away the blush and embarrassment and start talking with Ji Chen straight. What she didn't expect was that she was told to have 'Yin Great Veins'! Ji Chen grabbed Marie's shoulders. Marie didn't seem to care because she was too into Ji Chen's rant.

"What does that have to do with you crippling my cultivation!"

Marie asked with a dark face. She still wasn't convinced that Ji Chen was telling the truth and she was salty about losing her cultivation.

"You were doing it all wrong!"

Ji Chen answered while stroking his chin, making him look like an expert.

"Wrong?"

Maire repeated. She had been taught by her father, a City Lord, how could it be possible for his teachings to be wrong?

"Yes, with the right guidance of cultivation, you should be able to cultivate to around three layers a day until Warrior. Our Great Divine Immortal Sect can help you achieve such cultivation speed. I'm here to recruit you, do you accept my invitation?"

Ji Chen spoke as if it was nothing, making Kane and Marie's jaw drop. Kane wasn't visible since he was a spirit and wasn't visible to those without cultivation, of which Marie had none currently.
