172 Workshop Assistants

We wait a while together with Rose, but eventually, we got bored of waiting for Hope to come back. I asked Dante to keep an eye on her before going to our room.

Even with the nap I was still tired and Rose even if she technically did sleep the use of her new ability, and the recovery process of the new one didn't help her rest.

So we went to bed early.

When I used the ticket, the information of my new ability went into my mind with some degree of pain that I learned to handle. It was a lot stronger than the previous inducements I got, the distance and the strength was a tier above of course de effect became almost none existent near the limit of the area.

Like the previous level it had to be linked to a sense, once again it was hearing. Well, at least I don't have to fart or touch to scare them away. The advantage of the E-Rank, besides the effect being greater, is that I can focus on specific targets to enhance the effect. Since I have to make a sound, I think that whistling is a good idea, it feels more natural than screaming or taunting for me.

After telling her a little about the fear inducement, I asked her about the bag, but Rose didn't want to tell me what was inside, just that it was a surprise, but from the tone of her voice, I think that I will like it.

We both fell asleep a little later while discussing the Dante's resonance Dilemma.

(Gerhard's POV)

Somehow I feel more energetic today.

After using Spence's ticket it hurt like hell, but it was worth it. I don't know the details like Spencer, but I feel a lot better and full of energy even if it is early morning right now.

After having breakfast with everyone, I went to see how was Emma doing and to be sure that they are eating well.

After checking on them, I had an idea and called them to come with me to the armory to work.

I don't know how that point stuff works, but if we are feeding them, they should work too.

"Hey Gerhard, bringing some friends?"

Tom was the only one here when we arrived into my division.

"Yeah, I want to see if they can help me."

"And to show off your muscles in front of that girl?"

He was trying to embarrass me. I looked at Emma who had no reaction to the comment, but surprised me by looking around with a slight interest in her eyes… this must be new for her, and it might be helping her somehow… I should help her more, maybe if I ask her on a date?

No bad idea, she will feel forced to go if I ask right? That's how Spencer said it work… I think.

I threw the idea to the back of my mind for the moment, and In a low whisper, I answered to Tom's comment.

"Maybe a little."

He laughed, but when finished he was had a serious look on his face

"Remember I usually work with dangerous stuff so don't let them get near."

I hate when he is talking and suddenly enters in boss mode. From the way they acted, he noticed that these guys are weird, I don't know if he knows that they are goons but at least noticed that they were odd.

I went to my station followed closely by them, I made some space for Emma to sit and started to order Alfred and Watson around, with Emma's help.

After the Aurora Clinic incident, it was like early Christmas for the beast weapon division. We have a lot of materials and stuff to experiment with.

Besides the spear, I have worked on different bladed weapons, shields, bolts, arrows, bows and improving the crossbow design.

The bows and crossbow are a challenge, they need to be enough for ordinary people to draw them but if they are not strong enough they will not penetrate the beast's skin. We have been working mainly in arrows and bolts, but there are not many advances in the area.

The reason to work on them is a project to create some kind of militia with them, give lessons to non-Espers, so when the time to fight comes those that want, can help in some way.

I showed a really simple technique to clear bones to the goons, and after a few tries, I left them cleaning under Emma's supervision. I kept an eye on them for a while, and there were no problems in what they were doing.

The process to get the bones is simple. The beast is taken to a place where they butcher it and take the meat, we receive the rest of the creature but obviously is not ready to be used and cleaning them it's a tedious but simple task, having someone to take care of it for you it's a blessing.

I got ready to start to work with my new improved abilities.

This new ability couldn't have come in a better moment. During this time I have been learning different techniques with fancy names to make Spencer's short spear, and some of them require a lot of strength to be performed correctly. After looking at the materials and giving them a try, I selected a few of them and started to work with them.

I finally started yesterday, I would have done it before but I had to go in a couple of missions, and it was delayed until now.

The spear was made by the bones from the beasts. It was the best option after all. For the shaft, I will use one from a bull which was particularly durable and hard.

When I was asked to make a spear, I was out of my comfort zone, so I had to… read about the different types and think of what Spencer wanted.

From his description what he wanted was barely able to be called a spear. Spears usually are a lot longer than what he wanted. Typically, a spear shaft had to be at least a little flexible, but this was not the case for Spencer.

If I had to call it, what he wanted was more like half a spear.

I worked in a short shaft of about 80 cm. As mentioned it came from a mutated bull, I wanted to use the horns too for the spearhead, but I couldn't work with them, and they are too thin and crooked. The spear would look cool and all, but Spence will not be able the thrust forward with confidence and that not that useful.

I had to treat the bone with a particular solution devised Tom. I have no idea the details about it or how it works, but I was advised to use it because the weapons are better that way and from what I saw so far it's true.

The shaft was almost finished yesterday, and today I was going to work and hopefully finish with the spearhead. For the spearhead, I have two options for the material.

If I manage to make a spearhead with the tusk of the giant boar, I will do that. If not, I will use the tip of the tail.

Until yesterday I was decided to work with the tail, but now that I have more strength I might be able to do something with the tusk. I will probably break it but if there is a chance for me to use it I'll take it.

I took the tusk that I tried to shape yesterday and the different reptile skins that we learned to use as sandpaper. Yesterday I tried, but I got tired fast without getting many results.

As I thought it worked better than yesterday, but it still took me all morning to get it into the oversized pointy leaf shape that I wanted.

Emma and the goons finished cleaning all the bones, so I had to teach them another thing. With Emma's help, they classified the sizes of the bones and depending on the size some became arrowheads or bolts.

As they finished working on their task, I did the same with the spear. It took me a couple more hours to fit it into the shaft and be sure that it was not going to fall off, but after a full day of work shaping, adding metal plates, heating, and sanding it was finally done…

… I hope it doesn't break on the first day.
