11 Reunion

I was in front of the door to my room, a little nervous.

I knock the door and from inside a sweet and confused voice said.

"Come in?"

I opened the door and came into the room, closely followed by Rose.

Hayley became even more confused when she saw me, she probably recognized my room, but the situation still was weird.

At that moment I wished I hadn't gotten the enhanced vision… I could see every detail of her hazel eyes, one of the reasons I fell for her. Her chestnut hair was messy and has some light- blue highlights that I didn't notice last night, this made her even more attractive. I could have lost myself in her one more time, but I also saw when I got into the room that the temperature dropped around her distorting the colors giving her the appearance of an aura.

[It's not an aura] the system interrupted my thoughts.

'What do you mean?'

'Like synesthesia?'

Rose's cough brought me back to reality, I was standing right in front of Hayley, and my eyes were fixed on her, she was fidgeting a little, I gave her a reassuring smile and finally talked.

"How are you feeling?"

"I feel beaten, and extremely confused… why am I here?"

"I brought you here… you were faint in front of your house, and you had a wound on your head".

My words had some effect, she looked down and slowly touched her wound. Apparently, everything was coming back to her.

Before she was just confused, but now she felt hurt and scared too.

Rose sat on a chair, and I went to sit next to Hayley, I put a hand on her shoulder trying to comfort her.

"I understand if you don't want to talk about it, but if you want we are here to listen to anything you want to tell us?"

"It was a nightmare."

I an unexpected turn of events she sought comfort in my arms and started crying. All I could do was hug her back and caress her hair till she calmed down. I shouldn't say anything like this, but her familiar smell made remember a similar situation from about a year ago, and her skin felt softer than what I remembered… stupid enhanced senses, thank god I didn't get the enhanced smell too.

After a while, she could talk again, but she didn't move from between my arms.

She told us how when she woke up yesterday she wasn't feeling good so went to see her mother. She found her lying on the floor and called her dad, when he saw her he became crazy and kick her out.

Afterward, she wandered around the neighborhood, she went to the houses of her friends seeking help, but she was ignored, thrown away and threatened every time. She even went to the police station and a private clinic, but the story was the same. After going around for a while, she came back to her house.

There without saying anything was knocked out by her father. When she was finishing the story, her face was covered in tears while shaking.

"I don't understand why everyone was acting like that" at that moment she started crying again, hug her tighter once again while thinking about her story.

I understood something at that moment, for most of the people when they woke up yesterday for some reason the electric devices weren't working, but they got no clue about everything that happened. Unless they discovered that they had a power they wouldn't notice the change in the world either, I should be glad that I saw what happened and that Dante awakened his power right away.

When she calmed down again, I said.

"I think I know what happened."

"What do you mean?" She looked at me without understanding, Rose decided to jump into the conversation.

"Before you woke up yesterday, what do you remember from when you went to bed?".

Hayley looked at Rose for the first time and left my arms slightly embarrassed by it, trying to focus on something.

"Nothing, really… wait while I was sleeping there was an explosion somewhere". She focused her eyes on Rose.

"It wasn't an explosion."

After that, I explained how we were stargazing that night when the comet became multiple meteors that fell on the earth, and how after that we all fainted because of what seemed to be a shockwave.

"You are telling me that a meteor fell on the planet?" She was a little skeptical after hearing the story.

"Meteors."

I corrected her.

"Ok… but even if that is true, what has to do with what happened to me."

"To be honest from this onwards it's just theories and the crazy kind… but somehow the shock waves had different effects on everyone".

She just looked at me increasingly confused.

"Some people got abilities."

Her confusion face changed and looked at me displeased.

"This is not funny Spence."

She said with a stern voice, she looked at Rose for support.

"He is not joking."

She said.

"Dante, talk with her."

Hayley again gave me a strange look, but her face changed quickly and looked at Dante.

I noticed that a connection was made between Dante and Hayley. It was like a fine thread made of smoke.

"I know, maybe I'm still dreaming" she was shocked.

Using the most serious tone I could I told her what she didn't want to hear.

"This is not a dream Hayley. Unfortunately, this is a new reality."

My words made her understand that it was not a joke. She became, even more, confused and paled after what I told her.

"Then you think I have some kind of superpower?"

"Not necessarily, besides powers, there are simpler abilities, for example, Hope has an eidetic memory, and Rose cannot lie."

"Wait, is that true?". Hayley asked Rose.

"It's been horrible, I keep saying embarrassing things all the time because it's like a have no filter, for what I should and should not say."

"Exactly, also I'm pretty sure that G has something too, during the day if he is not moving around he starts feeling awful. Dante can use telepathy as you already know, and in my case, my mind became clearer when I think about something, and since this morning my eyesight has improved greatly".

"You got a power? Why you didn't tell us?" Rose asked.

"I noticed when I was working on the kits with Hope, and after I noticed it kind of awakened more. Remember our conversation about how to discover them? When I was looking for something I just started seeing everything very detailed".

Hayley again asked what was on her mind

"You think that I have an ability that pushes people around me away?"

"Not exactly, in the morning we saw the effects, Dante, Rose and I are immune to whatever it is, but when G saw you he had a panic attack, and Hope also got scared, but it was not as bad as with G."

She looked at me surprised.

"For some reason after the meteor shower, you became frightening to most of the people, or at least to the people you visited yesterday. For now, we need to find a way to control it if possible also you shouldn't go around alone, we don't know what will happen if someone attacks you again, also is possible that someone knows about you and the people I saw last night were actually looking for you."

"What do you mean with looking for me?"

She was a little shocked by this revelation, but this one wasn't on the same level as the other things she heard today.

"It's a lot to take on, for now, I'll let you think about it, Dante is going to stay with you for now, if you need anything you can talk to him, and he will call us."

I was prepared to leave before I remembered the new highlight in her hair.

Hayley started checking her hair

"Spence her hair is the same color as always."

Rose told me.

"Mmmm weird, I can see them clearly, maybe it has something to do with my vision enhance or something like that, anyway, get some rest."

Since I saw a lot of new colors and things I decided to think about it later, for now, I need to understand my power better.

"I'll bring you something to eat."

After Rose said that I remembered that Hayley has not eaten anything for 2 days.

We both left her room.

"And?" I asked Rose.

"And what?" She looked back at me while without understanding my question

I just smiled.

"Is she dangerous, evil or threatening in any way to the group?".

This time she understood what I was talking about.

"No, at least for now, and if she is… she hides it really well."

"Then she stays with us for now."
